The Forge Build Ultimate Guide: Best One-Shot Weapon & AFK Armor Recipes

Are you tired of hitting an enemy ten times just to see their health bar barely move? In The Forge, efficiency is everything. If you aren't one-shotting mobs or taking zero damage, you are likely using the wrong recipes.

The Forge Build Ultimate Guide: Best One-Shot Weapon & AFK Armor Recipes

The game doesn't explain the hidden passives of specific ores very well. But after extensive testing (and a lot of wasted materials), we've found the absolute meta builds. Today, I'm going to break down the exact recipes you need to turn your character into a walking nuke. Whether you want to slice through bosses with a Katana or go AFK while your armor does the killing, this guide has you covered.

The Weapon Build: Why the Katana is King

You might be tempted to craft the Colossal Sword because, well, it's huge. But here is a pro tip: Don't do it.

Why? Because the resource cost for a Colossal Sword is absurd—we're talking around 25 Dark Ores and 25 Demon Eyes. That is hours of grinding for a weapon that is slower than a turtle. Instead, the Katana is the current best-in-slot weapon. It's faster, cheaper, and with the right ores, it hits just as hard.

The God-Tier Katana Recipe

If you want to one-tap enemies, this is the specific combination of ores you need to put into the forge. This build focuses on stacking Critical Hits, Burning, and AOE Explosions.

  • 4x Demonite (Raw Power)
  • 3x Magma Eye (The MVP for AOE)
  • 3x Eye Ore (Damage Boost)
  • 3x Fire Eye (Burn Damage)

What does this actually do?

This isn't just about raw attack numbers.

1. Magma Eye gives you a 35% chance to trigger an AOE explosion on hit. This means when you hit one enemy, you blow up the guy standing next to him too.

2. Fire Eye adds a 20% chance to burn the enemy for 2 seconds.

3. Eye Ore provides a flat +15% damage boost.

The Budget Mid-Game Recipe

If you haven't reached the end-game yet and can't afford Demonite, don't worry. Use this recipe instead:

  • 3x Eye Ore
  • 3x Magma Eye
  • 3x Fire Eye
  • 3x Riverite

Note: Riverite is excellent here because it adds a 20% Critical Strike chance, which helps early game damage significantly.

The Armor Build: How to Kill Enemies by Standing Still

Most players think armor is just for survival. They are wrong. In The Forge, armor is a weapon.

If you build this correctly, you can literally stand next to an enemy, go make a sandwich, and come back to find the enemy dead. This is possible through Thorns and Radioactive passives.

The Invincible Chestplate Recipe

This is expensive, but it makes you nearly immortal.

  • 20x Dark Ore
  • 8x Demonite
  • 6x Obsidian

Why is this broken?

  • Obsidian gives you a massive dodge chance (around 50%). Half the time, enemies can't even touch you.
  • Dark Ore & Demonite combo creates a Radioactive aura. When enemies stand near you or hit you, they take damage automatically.
  • It also provides a 40% chance to burn the enemy when you take damage.

The AFK Strategy:

If you equip this armor, you can stand in a farming spot. When skeletons or knights run up to hit you, the radioactive aura drains their health, and the recoil burn finishes them off. You take zero damage; they die instantly.

Where to Farm & The Achievement Hack

Knowing the recipe is half the battle; getting the ores is the hard part.

1. The Volcanic Depths

You need to make your way to the Volcanic Depths immediately. This is the only place to reliably farm Volcanic Rocks, which drop the essential Magma Eyes, Demonite, and Dark Ores. It will take time—Demonite and Dark Ore drops are rare—but trust me, the payoff of one-shotting everything is worth the grind.

2. Don't Ignore Achievements

Head to your Achievements tab right now. Many players miss this.

  • By completing basic tasks, you can upgrade your Critical Chance Boost.
  • You can get this up to almost 35%.

What this means for you: Combined with the Katana's speed, you will be landing critical hits almost every other swing.

The Weapon Build: The 5.22x Multiplier Beast

First, let's talk about offense. You want weapons like the Rapier, Chaos Blades, Iron Hand Gauntlet, or the Taji Katana. To get these with the best stats, you need a specific combination of ores.

The God Roll Recipe

Do not change the ratio. Put exactly these ores into your forge:

  • 4x Dark Eye Ores
  • 3x Magmaite Ores
  • 3x Eye Ores

Why is this the best? (The Data)

This specific combination grants you a 5.22x Damage Multiplier. In The Forge, multipliers are king. The higher your multiplier, the more raw damage you output.

What you will get (Probabilities):

  • 47% Chance: Gauntlets
  • 42% Chance: Katanas (High priority!)
  • 11% Chance: Straight Swords

The Stats & Trade-offs:

When you craft this, you aren't just getting raw damage. You are getting:

  • +15% Physical Damage
  • 35% Chance for a 50% Explosion (Massive AOE)
  • -10% HP

Note: Yes, you lose some health. But with a 5.22x multiplier and explosion passive, enemies will die before they can touch you.

The Armor Build: Dark Knight Radiation Set

For armor, we are focusing exclusively on the Dark Knight set (Helmet, Leggings, and Chestplate).

Warning: Do not craft the basic versions. They are significantly worse. You need the advanced recipes below to unlock the Radiation and Weapon Damage buffs.

1. Dark Knight Helmet Recipe

  • Materials: 8 Mithril, 8 Obsidian, 7 Fire Eyes, 3 Uranium.
  • The Buffs: You get +45% HP and a huge +12.92% Weapon Damage.
  • The Secret Weapon: It provides 0.85% Max HP Radiation. This means enemies take damage just by standing near you.

2. Dark Knight Leggings Recipe

  • Materials: 9 Mithril, 9 Obsidian, 9 Fire Eyes, 3 Uranium.
  • The Buffs: Another +45% HP and +15% Weapon Damage.
  • Radiation: 0.5% Max HP Radiation.

3. Dark Knight Chestplate Recipe

  • Materials: 12 Mithril, 12 Obsidian, 11 Eyes, 4 Uranium.
  • The Buffs:+45% HP and +13.79% Weapon Damage.
  • Radiation: 0.56% Max HP Radiation.

What this means for you:

By stacking these three pieces, you are gaining nearly +42% extra Weapon Damage from your armor alone, plus a constant radiation aura that melts enemies.

Pro Tip: Customizing Your Armor Color

If you care about Fashion-Forge, here is a hidden mechanic.

If you want your helmet or armor to be a specific color, you need to make sure one specific ore has a higher quantity than the others in the mix. The game dominates the color palette based on the majority ore. Adjust the numbers slightly (without breaking the recipe ratio too much) to get the look you want.

Free Rerolls: The Codes

I promised you guys codes, and I don't want to waste your time. Use these immediately before they expire to get free rerolls on your stats.

Note: Keep an eye out for weekend-specific codes which often drop 10 Rerolls.

FAQ: Common Questions

Q: I can't find Uranium or Dark Ore, what should I use?

A: If you are struggling to find the top-tier ores, fill the gaps with Mithril or Riverite. They are easier to find and provide decent stats until you can farm the Volcanic Depths efficiently.

Q: Is the Colossal Sword ever worth it?

A: Only if you have infinite resources and just want it for the cool factor. For actual gameplay efficiency and DPS (Damage Per Second), the Katana build listed above is superior and saves you dozens of hours of farming.

Q: Does the armor damage stack with my weapon damage?

A: Yes! The Radioactive damage from armor is passive. You can still swing your sword while the armor burns enemies, effectively doubling your damage output.

Q: Why does the weapon recipe reduce my HP (-10%)?

A: This is a Glass Cannon build. The game balances the insane 5.22x damage multiplier and explosion chance by lowering your health slightly. In high-level play, killing the enemy instantly is better than having 10% more health.

Q: Can I swap Uranium for something else in the armor?

A: No. Uranium is the key ingredient that gives the Radiation passive. If you remove it, you lose the ability to deal passive damage to enemies around you.

Q: What is the best weapon to aim for with the recipe?

A: While the Gauntlets have the highest drop rate (47%), the Taji Katana (42% chance) is generally preferred for its speed and moveset combined with the explosion passive.

Final Thoughts

You now have the blueprint for the most broken builds in The Forge.

Here is the reality check: You still need to put in the work. These ores won't mine themselves. But now, instead of guessing and wasting precious Demonite on bad recipes, you have a clear goal.

Head to the Volcanic Depths, farm those Magma Eyes, and craft that Katana. Once you see that first One-Hit kill, you'll never go back to the old way of playing. Good luck, and happy forging
