WARDOGS Beginner Guide: Everything You Need To Know
WARDOGS drops new players straight into a large-scale wartime battlefield with only a basic wallet, a generic rifle, and zero in-game tutorials. If you've just launched the game for the first time, you'll likely feel overwhelmed by progression systems, zone rules, team mechanics, and gear costs. Most new players lose all their cash in their first few matches simply because they don't understand core game loops and beginner discounts.

In this post, we break down every essential mechanic from starter progression and class leveling to loadout building, fast zone transportation, and profitable combat. We rely on our closed alpha and closed beta gameplay experience to deliver actionable tips that keep you from going broke and help you contribute to your team in every match.

Core Game Progression & Leveling System
Before jumping into a match, you need to understand how progression works in WARDOGS, because every level unlocks critical gear and gameplay advantages. New players start with $10,000 starting cash and a locked progression tree tied to two core leveling systems.
Overall Account Level & Class-Specific Level
Your main WARDOGS account level is a cumulative total of all your individual class levels. This means if you reach level 5 in Assault and level 5 in Medic, your overall account level will hit 10. Once your overall level rises, you unlock new armor, backpacks, vehicles, and weapons, including the tank unlocked at level 35.
There are six playable classes in the game, and each levels up only when you complete class-specific actions in matches. We've summarized each class's core gameplay and leveling methods in the table below.
| Class | Core Leveling Actions | Unlocking Value for Beginners |
|---|---|---|
| Assault | Engage and eliminate enemy players with assault rifles | Unlocks advanced AR attachments and combat perks |
| Medic | Heal and revive teammates during matches | Grants consistent cash rewards for support plays |
| Recon | Snipe enemies and spot enemy targets/vehicles/FOBs | Skips weak starter weapons to unlock SKS early |
| Support | Build structures, place FOBs, and supply team resources | Controls map objectives and hot zone movement |
| Driver | Pilot ground vehicles to transport teammates and supplies | Provides fast ground rotation for the team |
| Pilot | Operate helicopters for aerial transport and support | Fastest in-game transportation method |

Gear Unlock Ruler
If you unlock a new item via leveling, you cannot use it immediately. You first need to pay a large one-time fee to unlock permanent purchase access, then pay a smaller recurring fee to buy the gear for individual matches. This two-step unlock system is why new players should prioritize leveling early.
Customization & Black Market
For early-game players, customization options are extremely limited. The full skin collection system will launch with the official game release, so you won't miss exclusive items as a beginner.
The Black Market is a late-game system that converts in-game dollars to gold, allowing players to purchase cosmetic skins. It is not fully functional in beta versions and is not a priority for new users. All beginners can claim 5 free bandages daily from this menu for free healing resources.

Future updates will add investment systems and mission rewards to this section, but these mechanics do not affect your first dozens of matches.
Server & Team Selection
Poor server and team choices are one of the biggest reasons new players have bad match experiences. Based on our beta testing experience, we've summarized clear selection rules for beginners.

How to Pick the Best Server?
- Avoid full or empty servers: Do not join 100-player full servers with long 10+ person queues, and skip 0/100 empty servers that will never fill
- Optimal server range: Choose servers with 80–90 active players for fast queue times and stable match start
- Sort by player count: Use the server sort function to filter active lobbies and skip dead servers instantly
Best Team for Beginners
Throughout the closed alpha and beta cycles, team performance has remained consistent. Green and Red teams have far higher win rates, while the Blue team rarely secures objectives and wins. If you want to avoid constant losses in your early matches, always join Green or Red team first.
Public Squads
If you queue solo, we highly recommend joining a public squad immediately after spawning.
When you join a squad, you gain three huge advantages over solo players: visible teammates on the map, exclusive squad chat, and a much higher revive rate from allies.Teammates in squads will actively support your fights and heal you, while random solo players will ignore downed teammates.
Forward Operating Base Key Facilities
Your team's base contains three core functional areas that every beginner must know. These facilities determine your loadout, transportation, and spawn mechanics.
- Equipment Vendor: Purchase all weapons, ammo, armor, medical supplies, and tactical gear
- Vehicle Vendor: Buy ground vehicles and helicopters for map rotation
- Deployment Board: The most important base facility. Once your team hits 20 match score, a spawn vehicle unlocks. If a teammate drives this vehicle to the combat zone, you can spawn directly into the vehicle via the board and skip all travel time
Optimal Beginner Loadout
All players below level 19 get a new recruit 50% discount on all items, including weapons, vehicles, and supplies. This discount expires at level 9, so you must take full advantage of cheap gear in your early matches.
When you die without being revived, you lose all equipped gear, but proper loadout building ensures you still turn a consistent profit.
Recommended Starter Loadout
| Gear Category | Specific Pick | Reason & Operational Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Weapon | T21 Rifle / Burst Rifle | Only accessible full-auto weapons for low levels; LMGs, marksman rifles, and bows require high class levels |
| Ammo Setup | 2 Magazines + Loose Ammo | Loose ammo stacks to 80 rounds (vs 20 per mag), more efficient for long fights; 2 mags avoid excess gear waste |
| Tactical Item | Binoculars | Levels Recon class fast; spotting enemies/vehicles earns passive cash rewards |
| Medical Gear | Emergency Resuscitator + Full Bandages | Resuscitator cuts revive time drastically and grants $900 per teammate revive; bandages support self/ally healing |
| Defensive Gear | Basic Vest + Large Backpack | Discounted early, increases loot/ammo capacity and basic survivability |
| Lethal Gear | 2–3 Grenades | Extremely powerful in close-quarters combat; flexible for pushing enemies or defending positions |
Gear Mistakes to Avoid
If you equip a pistol as a secondary weapon in early matches, you will waste cash for no practical benefit. Low-level pistols deal minimal damage and cannot replace your primary rifle in combat.
Additionally, skip parachutes unless you plan to helicopter jump—save cash for medical supplies and ammo instead.
Normal Zone vs Hot Zone
Zones are the core of WARDOGS' match loop, and staying in zones is the easiest way to earn passive cash. Normal zones grant $160 every few seconds, while hot zones double this income and amplify all combat/ support reward profits.
This means if you stay in the hot zone consistently, you can earn match profits even without getting kills.
How to Win Matches?
Match victory depends on zone occupation numbers. The team with more active players in the combat zone gains match progress. Hot zone players count as two players instead of one, making hot zone control the top priority for winning matches.
Tower Objective & Hot Zone Manipulation
The map features five functional towers, all with identical control rooms on the second floor. Each tower contains a unique digit code. If your team collects all five digits, you can manually move the hot zone to any tower of your choice.
If you pull the hot zone to your team's FOB, you gain massive defensive advantages and unlimited high-profit passive income. Most players ignore this core objective, so mastering it lets your team dominate matches easily.
Drill Objective
If you play Support class, you can build drills inside your team FOB with 6000 fuel and a cooldown timer. Functional drills will also pull the hot zone to your base. In our gameplay experience, building drills is far easier than collecting five tower codes for beginner teams.
Transportation
Your base is extremely far from the active combat zone, and ground vehicles take minutes to travel the full distance. Helicopters are faster but require pilot skills. The absolute best method for beginners is the deployment board spawn trick.
Once your team unlocks the spawn vehicle, wait for a teammate to drive it to the zone. You can then spawn directly into the vehicle via the deployment board, skipping all travel time and joining combat instantly.
Combat & Healing & Looting
Core Combat Rules
- Recoil control: The game has PUBG-level vertical recoil. If you spray fire at enemies, you must pull your mouse downward to maintain accuracy
- Peeking strategy: ADS first before rounding corners; the game has slow aim-down-sight speed, so pre-aiming avoids sudden death
- Long-range combat: Tap shoot for distant enemies instead of full auto spray, as low-level weapons have no attachments for long-range stability
- Movement cover: Stay in low terrain to avoid snipers in map towers; bush camping is extremely effective for both new and veteran players
Spotting for Passive Profit
The binoculars you equip can spot enemies, vehicles, and enemy FOBs. Whenever a target you spot is eliminated or destroyed, you earn cash rewards. This is a zero-risk way to level Recon and earn money without engaging in combat.
Healing & Revive Mechanics
If you get downed in combat, you can set a cash bribe to encourage teammates to revive you. Higher bribes drastically increase your revive chance. If no teammate helps, you will respawn at base and lose all gear.
When healing, ally heals are better than self-heals: you save your bandages, and your teammate earns cash for supporting you. If you are alone, use bandages immediately after taking damage to avoid being finished by enemies.
Looting Enemy Players
Eliminated enemies drop backpacks with random gear, ammo, and medical supplies. Looting is a great way to refill resources for free and collect high-tier armor/weapons you cannot unlock early. A single successful combat engagement can net you a $16,000+ match profit.
Post-Match Progression & Rewards
After every match, the scoreboard displays your total cash earned, cash refunded, net profit, and class level progression. The scoreboard sorts players by total earnings, and top earners are usually helicopter pilots or support players controlling zone objectives.
Every kill, assist, revive, and spot contributes to your class XP, letting you unlock new gear faster for future matches.
FAQs
Q1: Why do I keep losing money in WARDOGS early matches?
A: You are likely overbuying unnecessary gear or dying repeatedly without earning kills/zone profit. Stick to our discounted starter loadout, stay in hot zones for passive cash, and avoid risky solo fights to maintain positive profits.
Q2: What is the fastest way to level up classes as a beginner?
A: Prioritize Recon via enemy spotting and Medic via teammate revives. These two playstyles have zero combat risk and generate consistent XP and cash at the same time.
Q3: Is the Blue team ever worth joining?
A: Blue team has significantly lower win rates in beta and alpha builds. We recommend avoiding it entirely for consistent match wins and objective control.
Q4: Are helicopters worth buying at low levels?
A: Yes. Level 1–9 players get 50% off helicopters, making them extremely cheap for fast map rotation and team support. It is the best time to practice piloting skills.
Finally
WARDOGS' early-game difficulty mainly comes from unfamiliar mechanics rather than hard combat skill requirements.
As a new player, your core priorities are leveraging the level 9 discount for cheap efficient loadouts, picking active stable servers and strong teams, joining squads for team support, and controlling hot zones/tower objectives for passive profit.
Mastering basic recoil control, spotting mechanics, and FOB objective manipulation lets you earn steady cash and level up quickly in every match. Avoid overcomplicated gear builds and risky solo plays, and you will never go broke while steadily improving your gameplay and unlocking endgame content.
