Massive Scale Gathering

• Transport-Ornithopter Pilot: Carries Spice harvesters to the field and picks them up when desired.

• Sandbike Driver: Deploy Thumpers that Sand Worms away from harvesting location.
• Harvesters: Players that actively collect Spice from the field.

A threat system determines how quickly Sandworms close in on a harvesting operation. The Saboteurs compete with the Thumper distraction. If Thumpers lose to the Sandworm, players must switch over to emergency evacuation protocols lest they turn into a snack along with their equipment.

Solo Harvesting

More solitary players now have the option of directly interacting with small Spice patches. This method gathers one unit of Spice per interaction and lowers the chances of attracting Sandworms. The method is quite time-consuming, but in both the short and long term it’s definitely better than large scale operations.

Players can also increase their efficiency by using a tool called "Static Compactor" which allows the extraction of several units of Spice-Sand simultaneously. This method is a double edged sword, because while it greatly increases efficiency and slashes the time required, it tends to increase the chances of Sandworm attacks. Since this method is more dangerous, a quick escape plan turns from optional to critical.

Identifying Spice Fields

After a Spice Bloom, one can pinpoint with relative success where to find Spice fields due to certain noteworthy characteristics:

Active Spice eruptions unleash violet dust clouds that can be seen from a good distance.

Vibrant violet sand can be seen at the eruption site which tells harvesters where they can begin the extraction process.
