The Ornithopter is basically your golden ticket to the skies in Dune: Awakening. The moment you lift off, grinding through sandworms and storm warnings suddenly feels a lot less brutal. Yes, building one is a bit of a marathon, but follow this guide and even solo scavengers can get it done without ripping their hair out. We toss in at least a couple shortcuts so you can collect loot without losing your mind.

Why You Crave This Flying Gear The first time you soar over a spice blow, the true value of the Ornithopter sinks in. Speed becomes freedom, and freedom saves your life more often than not. Crafting the machine, unfortunately, demands a mountain of parts and a sturdy stomach for resource runs.
↖ Why This Bird Matters
The Ornithopter is the earliest flight tech you can call your own. A single launch turns a three-hour trek into a ten-minute joy ride. enemies on the ground look tiny, and that feeling is priceless.
↖ Resources Checklist
How much raw material are we talking here?
- Aluminum Bars: 241 (roughly 1,700 Ore to smelt into sheet metal)
- Water: around 57,410 liters
- Cobalt Paste: 82 units (about 246 Erythrite Crystals crushed down)
- Advanced Servos: 46
- Particle Condensers: 22
- Complex Machines: 8
- Diamond Dust: 14
- Carbide Scrap: 7
- Industrial Pumps: 8 units
Most players forget that extra Electronics and smelters eat through the stash, so keep the toolbench humming.

Additional Crafters List The Medium Ore Refiner and your Vehicle Fabricator don-t build themselves.
Score these extras:
- 60 Cobalt Paste
- 50 Complex Machinery
- 165 Steel Ingots
- 12,750 Water

↖ Farming Tips for Each Resource
Water
Blood Bags are not just first-aid. Slice an enemy open and you can sponge excess moisture right out.
If you want to quit scraping for drops, slap a Fremen Death Distiller near your grinder. One corpse takes an hour to process but spits out enough water to fill a truck.

Aluminum
Hop in a Cutteray buggy and bounce over the Eastern Shield Wall. Once the dust settles, scan the shoulders of the road until the shiny flecks catch your eye.
Put the onboard mining arms to work. The job takes only a minute, and your cargo hold fills faster than you might think.
Short on wheels? Fine, double the storage on your sandbike and shuttle back-and-forth until it feels like a freight run.

Cobalt Paste
Pinkish-red Erythrite Crystals cling to the rock faces down in the Hagar Rift. Linger long enough, and they start to glow like ember.
Any ride with a full tank and extra cargo space cuts travel time in half.

↖ Advanced Servos and Particle Condensers
Test Stations-stacked gray boxes dotted across the map-spit out random tech every 45 minutes. Circle the locations on your HUD and farm the loop.
Toss a few quick quests, and the loot pile feels less like luck and more like paydirt.
↖ Diamond Dust and Carbide Scrap
The Mysa Tarill region plays host to crates wedged in cliff ledges and between crumbling buildings. Keep your eyes up as much as down.
If the RNG gods hold out on you, slide over to the Crossroads Trading Post and spend a bit of Solaris currency.
↖ Complex Machines
Shattered enemy camps sometimes hide Complex Machines in open toolboxes. Skip the lazy guards and move toward the rumble of running gears.
Areas with idling drill rigs or flashing conveyor belts are far more forgiving than quiet post piles.
↖ Industrial Pumps
Head to Sentinel City on the Eastern Shield Wall if you want to farm Industrial Pumps. Scout the area for hidden chests, but try to dodge long fights with the bad guys.
If chest-hunting feels like too much work, swing by the Crossroads Trading Post and buy the pumps outright.
↖ Crafting Your Ornithopter
Time to turn your vehicle dreams into metal wings. Check your supply box and make sure you have spare scrap, alloy, and a pinch of explosive powder lying around. Fire up the Vehicle Fabricator and give the command to build the Ornithopter itself.
Once the craft is hovering in the air-port, think about slapping extra storage on its belly. Those big, open bays can swallow another stack or two of whatever you pluck off the desert floor, and that added space slashes the number of return trips you have to waste.
↖ Post-Ornithopter Progression
With this flying rig, you finally shrug off the sandworm treadmill and scour the map at cruising speed. Zip straight to that high-capped Aluminum cliff that always teased your hover-pod, load up at light speed, and be back before the worm shakes off its nap. One big haul pays for the craft itself; farm a few loads and the real fun starts.
Keep an eye on those blinking Tier 5 and Tier 6 icons in the blueprints menu. Each jump up the tech ladder burns through resources like a spice-drunk siphon, so stockpile before you grind.
↖ Quick Summary
Putting together an Ornithopter in Dune: Awakening is all about planning and juggling your resources. Boost your efficiency by farming water and gathering aluminum at the same time, and always roll with a vehicle that has extra storage so you arent making endless trips. With this approach, you wont need a crew to get the job done.
