AION 2 Alts Accounts Guide: How Many Secondary Characters You Actually Need

Forget what Lost Ark taught you. AION 2 punishes alt spam hard.

Two to three alts is the sweet spot. Beyond that, account-wide caps eat your rewards and you're just burning hours for nothing.

AION 2 Alts Accounts Guide: How Many Secondary Characters You Actually Need

Here's the breakdown, no fluff.

The Real Number: 2-3 Alts

Player TypeAltsWhy
Casual 0-1 Small extra value, low effort
Efficient main-focused2 Best reward-to-time ratio
Progression-focused3 Practical ceiling
Grinder (4+) 4+ Reward caps kill efficiency
Lost Ark habit (6-7) 6-7 Don't. Just don't.

If you can't maintain one alt properly, don't create five. Focused beats bloated every time.

Pet & Mount Farming: Alt Loophole Closed

Used to farm pet materials on alts? That's dead now.

Fragments and crystals from daily-style dungeons are account-limited, not character-limited. Feels like a daily grind, hits like a weekly cap.

SystemOld Alt ValueNow
Pet fragments High Gone
Pet crystals High Restricted
Daily pet rewards Farmable Account-capped

Don't roll alts for pets. Waste of a character slot.

Party Dungeons: Still Your #1 Alt Reason

Five-man dungeons remain the best alt payoff. But two landmines wait for you.

Landmine 1: Bound Kinah

A chunk of dungeon Kinah is bound — can't warehouse it straight to your main.

Workaround:

1. Send main's gear to server warehouse

2. Alt pulls the gear

3. Alt spends bound Kinah upgrading it

4. Gear goes back to warehouse

5. Main retrieves the upgraded item

Ugly process. Works every time.

Landmine 2: The 224-Run Wall

Account-wide, not per-character.

RunsKinah EfficiencyAction
1-200 Full value Farm hard
~200-224 Diminishing Prioritize main/strong alts
224+ Sharp drop Stop farming for Kinah

Seven alts won't save you here. The wall is account-wide. Two alts lets you spend extra dungeon energy without slamming into it.

Essential Trials: Cleanest Solo Alt Grind

No party needed. Rewards feed straight into your main's economy.

RewardUse
Enhancement Stones Gear upgrades
Silentium Sell for Kinah
Manastone Chests Superior Manastones
Tradable crystals Marketplace gold

Hard mode needs roughly 2,000 gear score. Undergeared alt? Skip it, don't waste time. Alt clears hard mode? Run it every week — no excuses.

Abyss Points: The Useless Currency That Isn't

Abyss Points don't transfer to your main. Doesn't matter.

You're farming them to buy cheap Abyss gear, extract it for guaranteed skins, and feed the account-wide closet system.

The loop:

1. Farm Abyss Points on alt

2. Buy the cheapest Abyss gear (not BiS — irrelevant here)

3. Extract for guaranteed skin

4. Duplicates fuel combinations

5. Closet progress applies account-wide

Equalized battlefield (10v10) is the best entry point — gear gaps matter less, undergeared alts can still farm.

Don't buy expensive Abyss gear on alts. You're farming skins, not stats.

Weekly Priority Order

PriorityActivity
1 Party dungeons (within the 224-run window)
2 Essential Trials
3 Abyss corridors
4 Battlefield
5 Cheap Abyss gear → skin extraction
6 Extra dungeon spam (non-Kinah drops only)

Rewards tanking? Drop dungeon spam immediately. Move to Trials or Abyss content.

Alt Plan by Available Time

Time/DaySetup
1 hr Main only, maybe 1 alt for Trials
2 hrs Main + 1-2 alts
3-4 hrs Main + 2-3 alts, add Abyss
5+ hrs Main + 3 alts, full rotation

More time doesn't mean more alts past 3. It means running your existing alts better.

Launch Sequence (2026)

PhaseMove
First few days Main only
Core systems unlock Roll alt #1
Dungeon routine stable Roll alt #2
Main feels solid Roll alt #3 (optional)
Chores feel heavy Stop. Don't add more

Day-one seven-alt rosters are a rookie mistake. Your main needs the attention first.

Mistakes That Waste Your Time

MistakeFix
Rolling alts before main is stable Build main first
Farming past 224 runs for Kinah Stop, switch content
Ignoring bound Kinah Use it on gear via warehouse trick
Buying pricey Abyss gear on alts Buy cheap, extract, repeat
Skipping Essential Trials Add to weekly routine, no excuses
Treating alts as mandatory 1-3 is the efficient range, full stop

FAQ

How many alts do I actually need in AION 2?

Two to three. One alt is fine for casual play. Two hits the best reward-to-time ratio. Three is the ceiling for serious weekly optimization. Beyond that, the 224-run account cap and bound Kinah restrictions make extra alts a waste.

Can I move Kinah from my alt to my main?

Not directly — a large portion is bound. Workaround: warehouse your main's gear, upgrade it on the alt with bound Kinah, then warehouse it back to your main.

Are alts still good for pet/mount progression?

No. That loophole is closed. Fragment and crystal drops are account-capped, not character-capped. Don't roll alts for this.

Why bother farming Abyss Points if they don't transfer?

Because you use them to buy cheap Abyss gear, extract for guaranteed skins, and build account-wide closet progress. The currency stays on the alt — the value moves account-wide.

When should I stop running dungeons on alts?

The moment Kinah rewards drop noticeably — typically around 224 account-wide runs. After that, pivot to Essential Trials or Abyss content instead.

Bottom Line

Build your main first. Add alt #1 for dungeons and Essential Trials. Add alt #2 for Abyss farming and extra dungeon energy. Add alt #3 only if you've got the time and want the extra optimization.

Two to three alts. That's it. Anything more just burns your week for diminishing returns.
