Anime Expeditions Best Equipment Guide: Optimal Gear for Every Units

After hundreds of runs, one thing is clear: wrong gear wastes good units. Most equipment looks fine on paper — the difference shows up when you match items to each unit's actual kit. Crit units need crit. Support units need range. Passive-heavy units need SPA reduction, not raw damage.

Anime Expeditions Best Equipment Guide: Optimal Gear for Every Units

This guide covers every current unit: exact build, why it works, and where to farm it. No filler.

Core Gear Logic: Match Stats to Kits

Before crafting anything, know what each stat actually does for your unit:

StatBest ForWhy
Damage DPS, summons, DoT units Scales attacks AND most passives
SPA Reduction Attack-triggered passives More attacks = more procs
Range Supports, active-ability units Bigger coverage, better uptime
Crit Chance/Damage Crit-scaling kits Keeps crit passives consistent
Cooldown Reduction Strong actives More ability casts per run
Elemental Damage Magical/Physical specialists Direct main-damage boost

Rule of thumb: Reaper Released wants crit. Salmon Sorcerer wants range. Don't slap damage on everything.

Best Equipment for Mythic Units

Puppet — Range & Control Build

Build: Bamboo Bottle + Magic Orb + Calamity's Eye

  • Bamboo Bottle — range + active cooldown reduction
  • Magic Orb — range + damage
  • Calamity's Eye — improves Puppet creation (doll HP scaling)

Complete Control rewinds every enemy in range. Range isn't comfort here — it's your control ceiling.

DPS alternative: Three Swords from Hell + Shinigami Sword. Only swap if waves are already under control.

Cursed Student — Bleed Stacking

Build: Cursed Finger + Cursed Equipment + Promise Ring

  • Cursed Finger — bleed damage scales per stack, up to +20%. Cursed Student applies bleed every attack, so this is always active.
  • Cursed Equipment — up to 10% SPA reduction = faster stacks, more spirit bats.
  • Promise Ring — spirit bats hit for 25% of current damage, so every damage upgrade double-dips.

Salmon Sorcerer — Pure Support

Build: Pirate Slingshot + Cursed Equipment + Technique Amplifier

Slingshot gives up to 15% range. Technique Amplifier can push the Crumble Away slow to 65%.

Don't chase damage on this unit. In hard content, one delayed wave saves the run — that's Salmon Sorcerer's whole job.

Flame Emperor — Burn Spread

Build: Magic Book + Staff of Chaos + Emperor's Attire

  • Magic Book — up to 20% magical damage
  • Staff of Chaos — magical damage + 5% SPA reduction = more burn ticks
  • Emperor's Attire — Wild Fire spreads burn to the 5 nearest unburned enemies. This turns him into real AoE pressure.

Newer account? Swap Staff of Chaos for Elf Suitcase if range is the problem.

String Demon — Cocoon Uptime

Build: Cursed Equipment + Staff of Chaos + Webbed Fruit

Webbed Fruit cocoons enemies every 5 attacks — stun for 10 hits or 5 seconds, plus burst on break.

Stack SPA reduction. Faster attacks = more cocoons = more control. Damage is secondary.

Hollow — Physical Burn Convert

Build: Warrior's Axe + Katana + Hell's Flower

  • Warrior's Axe10% physical damage + 5% SPA
  • Katana — physical + general damage
  • Hell's Flower — when burn expires in range, it converts into a flame hit at 85% of Hollow's current damage. Scale damage, and the conversion scales with it.

Lady Giant — Uptime & Walls

Build: Bamboo Bottle + Warrior's Axe + Boulder

Her giant form lasts 25 seconds — Bamboo Bottle gets it back faster. Boulder cuts Stonewall from 15s to 12s. Small on paper, big over a full run.

If enemies leak on heavy waves, this beats a pure DPS setup every time.

Elf Mage — Spell Follow-ups

Build: Magic Book + Shinigami Sword + Elven Battle Staff

Elven Battle Staff upgrades Arcane Spells into follow-up attacks that scale at 3, 5, and 7 charges. Shinigami Sword adds crit + enemy-count damage scaling. Best in long fights with packed lanes.

Reaper Released — Crit Loop

Build: Enhanced Katana + Shinigami Sword + Spirit of the Moon Blade

  • Enhanced Katana10% crit chance, 5% crit damage
  • Shinigami Sword — another 10% crit chance + damage
  • Spirit of the Moon Blade — Adaptation grants permanent +10% damage and +10% crit chance per new enemy type hit

The loop: crit → Critical Tempo cuts SPA → more attacks → more crits. This is why generic damage gear is a trap on Reaper.

Best Equipment for Exclusive Units

Two slots only — every roll matters more.

True Saint

Build: Enhanced Katana + Shinigami Sword

No exclusive gear yet. The whole kit runs on crits and marks — stack crit chance for consistency, period.

Crimson

Build: Cursed Finger + Magic Book

Bleed every attack = Cursed Finger is free value. Magic Book covers the magical scaling. If Crimson feels weak, check your rolls before blaming the build — a low-roll Magic Book is night and day.

Toy Maker

Build: Kunai + Cursed Equipment

Toy Maker doesn't attack — it summons. Damage scales toy HP and explosions; SPA speeds up summon cycles and reaches the every-5th-cycle mutated toy faster.

Alternative: Three Swords from Hell + Shinigami Sword if placed at the map start where enemies stay in range constantly.

Best Equipment for Secret Units

Shadow — Magical Team Anchor

Build: Magic Book + Bamboo Bottle + Hex Blade

Shadow Realm rewinds enemies and buffs magical units by 25% for 30 seconds — Bamboo Bottle means more casts. Hex Blade drops Wing Spirit's interval from 8s to 5s and boosts its damage from 50% to 75%.

Solo DPS variant: swap Bamboo Bottle for Shinigami Sword. But in magical comps (Flame Emperor, Elf Mage), the utility build wins every time.

Eighth Sword — Max Damage, No Compromise

Build: Three Swords from Hell + Shinigami Sword + Hair Bells

  • Three Swords from Hell — up to 15% general damage
  • Shinigami Sword — up to +15% damage from enemies in range
  • Hair Bells — Demonic Presence ticks 15% current damage/sec over a wider area; Savage Rebound hits for 125% current damage

Everything in this kit scales off current damage. Stack it. Chase high rolls if this is your carry.

How to Farm Equipment

Standard Gear

Craft everything at the Armory (Expedition Zone). Standard cost: 5 Equipment Scrap + 10 Colored Sprites.

Bonus drop sources:

  • Magic Book — King's Tomb Act 5
  • Warrior's Axe — Fairy King Forest Act 5
  • Shinigami Sword — Spirit City Raid

Exclusive Equipment

All exclusives: 5% drop rate, 20-completion pity. Worst case, you know your grind ceiling.

EquipmentSource
Promise Ring / Technique Amplifier School Grounds Mastery
Hell's Flower Flower Forest Mastery
Emperor's Attire / Webbed Fruit Rose Kingdom Mastery
Boulder / Calamity's Eye Fairy King Forest Mastery
Elven Battle Staff King's Tomb Mastery
Hair Bells / Spirit of the Moon Blade Spirit City Raid Act 1

Hex Blade (Crafted Only)

5 Blue + 5 Green + 5 Red Sprites + 10,000 Gold. Worth it if Shadow anchors your magical comp.

Reroll Priorities & Locking

Right item + bad rolls = mediocre unit. Rolls are part of the build, not a bonus.

Unit TypeRoll Priority
Support Range > SPA > cooldown
Magical DPS Magical damage > damage > SPA
Physical DPS Physical damage > damage > SPA
Crit units Crit chance > crit damage
Summon units Damage > SPA
DoT units Element bonus > damage > SPA

Lock before you reroll. High crit chance on Reaper? Lock it. High range on Salmon Sorcerer? Lock it. One bad reroll turns a great item into crafting-table sadness.

Quick Troubleshooting

ProblemFix
Enemies leak / too fast More support, slows, range
Bosses survive too long More damage
Actives rarely ready Bamboo Bottle / cooldown gear
Passives not triggering Add SPA reduction
Crit passive inconsistent Stack crit chance first

FAQ

What's the best all-around equipment in Anime Expeditions?

No single winner, but Shinigami Sword, Magic Book, Cursed Equipment, Bamboo Bottle, and Three Swords from Hell fit the most builds. Craft these first for maximum flexibility.

What should beginners craft first?

In order: Magic Book → Cursed Equipment → Shinigami Sword → Warrior's Axe → Bamboo Bottle. This covers magical, physical, support, and SPA-based units before you touch exclusive farming.

Is SPA reduction better than damage?

Depends on the kit. String Demon and Toy Maker want SPA — their passives trigger per attack cycle. Pure damage carriers like Eighth Sword want raw damage. Match the mechanic, not the biggest number.

Where does exclusive equipment drop?

Mastery stages at 5% drop rate with 20-completion pity. Hair Bells and Spirit of the Moon Blade come from Spirit City Raid Act 1. Hex Blade is craft-only.

Do high rolls actually matter?

Massively. A high-roll item often outperforms a better item with weak rolls. For endgame, treat rerolling as mandatory — and always lock strong stats first.

Summary

The rule that wins runs: build for the mechanic, not the damage number. Puppet, Salmon Sorcerer, Shadow, and Lady Giant scale off range and cooldowns. Flame Emperor, Cursed Student, Reaper Released, and Eighth Sword scale off their natural damage identity.

If a unit underperforms, check in order:

1. Does the gear match the role?

2. Are the rolls high enough?

3. Is placement letting passives actually trigger?

Fix those three and your team stops feeling random. Good gear doesn't just add stats — it unlocks what the unit was built to do.
