Best Methods Farm Grow a Garden Gem Chests, Sprinklers & Rare Eggs after Event Buff

What is up, Gardeners?

Let's address the elephant in the room right away: It took the developers three days to buff this trader event. While it's a bit disheartening that a large team took this long for simple tweaks, the good news is that the buffs are absolutely massive.

If you previously wrote this event off as too grindy, it's time to log back in. I've just tested the new rates, and the results are bordering on game-breaking. Below, I'm going to break down exactly what changed, and then walk you through two insane pet combos—one for free-to-play players and one for the whales—that you need to abuse right now before they get patched.

Here is the breakdown of how to dominate this event.

Best Methods Farm Grow a Garden Gem Chests, Sprinklers & Rare Eggs after Event Buff

The Update: Why You Should Care Now

First, let's look at the mechanics that were adjusted. These changes are what make the farming strategies below possible.

  • Streak Timer Overhaul: Previously, you lost your streak after just 2 hours—a nightmare for anyone with school or a job. Now, streaks last 12 hours. You only need to complete a trade once in the morning and once at night to keep it going.
  • Faster Refreshes: New trades now cycle every 10 minutes instead of 1 hour. Don't like the request? Just wait a few minutes.
  • Better Rewards & Easier Requests: The drop rates have been buffed (Pack Mule is now a 13% chance), and the item requirements are lower. For example, Streak 10 now only asks for ~120 strawberries, whereas before, it was much harder.

You can now farm Gem Chests consistently. You have a 25%+ chance to get chests per trade, meaning in less than an hour, you are guaranteed some loot.

Strategy 1: The Magpie Money Printer (F2P Friendly)

This is the most accessible method in the update. If you want to fill your inventory with Grandmaster Sprinklers and standard eggs, this is the combo.

Why the Magpie?

This pet comes from the new Gem Chest with a generous 14.5% drop rate. It's easy to hatch or cheap to trade for. Its ability grants a 7%–30% chance to give a reward when selling a Silver Fruit.

The Loadout

  • Pets: 3-4 Magpies (to hit the 30% cap) + Duplication Pets (Ruby Squid, Stegosaurus, or even Giant Ants).
  • Essential Gear: Silver Monkeys. This is the secret sauce. They give you a chance to refund the crop when selling, allowing you to sell the same batch multiple times.
  • Crops: Strawberries (or any crop you have mass seeds for).

The Workflow

  • Plant & Mutate: Plant a dense field of strawberries. Turn them Silver using Silver Fertilizer or, for maximum speed, a Cockatrice (one screech turns 700+ crops silver).
  • Harvest: Switch to your duplication team and harvest everything.
  • The Sell Loop: Go to the sell area. Equip your Magpies and Silver Monkeys. Click Sell Inventory.
  • Repeat: Because of the Silver Monkeys, you keep many crops. Sell again until empty.

The Results (15-Minute Test)

I ran this strategy for just 15 minutes. Here is the loot haul:

Grandmaster Sprinklers 11
Level Up Lollipops 9
Common & Rare Eggs 301+
Harvest Tools 1,250

Note: This combo drops gear and eggs up to Mythical rarity. It will  not  drop Divine or Prismatic eggs. For those, you need the next strategy.

Strategy 2: The Bearded Dragon (End-Game Farming)

If you are hunting for the ultra-rare items like Bug Eggs, Jungle Eggs, or Gem Eggs, the Magpie won't cut it. You need the Bearded Dragon.

The Barrier to Entry: This pet is a 1% drop from the Gem Chest. It is expensive, but with the event buff, more are entering circulation daily.

How It Works

The Bearded Dragon consumes 3 plants of Divine rarity (or higher) every 40 minutes to grant a random egg from the Egg Shop.

  • The Exploit: This ability is not marked as Unmimicable.
  • The Setup: 1 Bearded Dragon + Multiple Mimics (or Chinchillas to refresh cooldowns).
  • The Garden: You need about 100 plants of Divine, Prismatic, or Transcendence rarity planted.

The Results (6-Hour AFK Test)

I left this running overnight with a high-end setup (6 Mimics + Bearded Dragon). The distribution of rare eggs was shocking:

Bug Eggs 110
Jungle Eggs 55
Gem Eggs 19

Even if you don't have a full team of Mimics, a single Bearded Dragon combined with cooldown reducers can yield 20-30 eggs an hour. This is the best way to farm the rarest eggs in the game right now.

FAQ: Common Questions

Q: I don't have a Cockatrice. Can I still use the Magpie method?

A: Absolutely. While the Cockatrice is instant, Silver Fertilizer lasts for hours and works perfectly fine. Just make sure your strawberries are silver before harvesting.

Q: Will this get nerfed?

A: I would bet on it. The Magpie is a common drop (14%) that produces end-game loot volume. The developers likely did not anticipate players getting 40 Grandmaster Sprinklers an hour. Farm this now.

Q: Is the Rainbow Bearded Dragon worth it?

A: Honestly? Not really. I tested the Rainbow version, and the difference is negligible compared to the normal one. Save your resources and just get a normal Bearded Dragon.

Final Verdict

Grow a Garden updates often favor the early birds.

Right now, the game is in a state where a simple 10-minute loop can recover all the resources you spent during the Smithing update. Whether you are using the Magpie to restock your gear or the Bearded Dragon to hunt for Gem Eggs, the efficiency is currently off the charts. Don't wait for the next patch notes to read about what you missed. Get in there, set up your streaks, and start farming!
