The KOWAKUJO Easter Egg is long, but it is not messy once you run it in the right order. The main rule is simple: unlock Pack-a-Punch, build the cat grenade, get the Cat Wonder Weapon, collect five evidence sets, solve the murder case, then kill the dragon.

↖ Best Loadout for KOWAKUJO Easter Egg
Bring range, utility, and one panic button. The boss has moving weak spots, so sloppy weapons hurt.
| Slot | Best Pick | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Primary | AR / LMG / Marksman Rifle | Stable ranged boss damage |
| Tactical | Decoys | Required for Nobleman step |
| Lethal | Molotovs / Explosives | Needed for lava statue |
| Key Perks | PhD Flopper, Death Perception, Juggernog | Required or high-value |
| Ammo Mod | Brain Rot | Required for Pestle step |
| Useful GobbleGum | Fire Sale / survival gums | Speeds up Mystery Box step |
Go into the final boss with:
- Pack-a-Punch Tier 2+
- Purple rarity or better
- Full armor
- Upgraded Maneki-Neko grenades
- A ranged weapon you can actually control
↖ Step 1: Unlock Pack-a-Punch
Open both sides of the map and complete the two ward captures.
| Ward | Location | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Ward 1 | Kitchens side | Interact with banner, defend circle |
| Ward 2 | Training Area side | Interact with banner, defend circle |
After both wards:
1. Go to the Central Courtyard gate.
2. Remove the glyphs.
3. Enter Tenshu Entrance.
4. Push into the War Room.
5. Kill the special Oni.
6. Pick up Shogun Hango.
7. Place it in the golden circle door.
8. Go upstairs to the World Seed.
9. Kill purple-aura zombies nearby.
10. Fill the seed to spawn Pack-a-Punch.
Pick up every special drop. Several are needed later.
↖ Step 2: Build the Maneki-Neko Grenade
You need three parts. Spawns vary.
| Part | Possible Locations |
|---|---|
| Bell / Furin | Staging beam, Stables, Training Area wall-buy |
| Cat Figurine | Gatehouse box, Kitchen barrels, Kitchen table/barrel |
| Human Figure | Storage Rooms near PhD, hallway table, Workshop barrel |
Take all three to the bench near Vulture perk and craft the Maneki-Neko tactical grenade.
If you run out, rebuy it from the same bench with salvage.
↖ Step 3: Get the Cat Wonder Weapon
This is the first major wall. Do it cleanly.
↖ Drop the Cage into Lava
1. Buy PhD Flopper.
2. Go to Tenshu Entrance.
3. PhD flop near the hanging cage.
4. Pick up the cage.
5. Throw it into active lava.
6. Flip to the next round.
Good lava spots:
| Lava Spot | Use |
|---|---|
| Training Area | Easiest route |
| Wisp Tea side | Reliable if active |
| Stables | Also used later |
↖ Spawn and Follow Paw Prints
Kill zombies in doorway spots until paw prints appear.
| Check Order | Doorway |
|---|---|
| 1 | Stables ↔ Training Area |
| 2 | Stables ↔ Staging Area |
| 3 | Flower Garden ↔ Staging Area |
| 4 | Flower Garden ↔ Kitchens |
| 5 | Kitchens ↔ Central Courtyard |
If prints do not spawn, move on. Do not waste a full round in one doorway.
Once prints appear:
1. Look where the prints face.
2. Kill zombies about 5 meters ahead.
3. Follow the next prints.
4. Repeat until prints form a circle.
5. Throw a Maneki-Neko grenade into the circle.
6. Kill the spawned Abomination.
Use Pack-a-Punch or upgraded rarity here. Underpowered guns make this step drag.
↖ Sneak Up on the Cat
Next round, buy Death Perception. Find the sleeping cat near glowing floorboards.
| Cat Spawn | Area |
|---|---|
| Kitchen spot 1 | Kitchen path |
| Kitchen spot 2 | Toward Flower Garden |
| Training Area | Corner near floorboards |
Rules:
- Crouch-walk only
- Avoid glowing floorboards
- Do not sprint
- Do not shoot
- Do not use field upgrades nearby
If you scare it, retry next round.
Pick up the cat and bring it to the World Seed. Wait for the pulses, then melee the seed between shockwaves until it breaks.
Pick up the Cat Wonder Weapon.
↖ Step 4: Shoot All 11 Lanterns
Use the Cat Wonder Weapon. You must shoot all 11 lanterns quickly.
| Order | Area |
|---|---|
| 1 | Spawn |
| 2 | Flower Garden entrance |
| 3 | Middle map |
| 4 | Central path right side |
| 5 | Stables |
| 6 | Training lava side |
| 7 | Tea Garden |
| 8 | Central map |
| 9 | Tenshu Entrance |
| 10 | Central Courtyard |
| 11 | Kitchens |
After the audio cue, go to the War Room and interact with the ghost body.
↖ Step 5: Fox Mask and Mask Puzzle
After the War Room sequence:
1. Go to the rooftop.
2. Use the kite fast travel.
3. Hold right during flight.
4. Spam interact to grab the Fox Mask.
5. Place it on the wall near Storage Rooms / PhD side.
↖ Mask Simon Says
The wall flashes mask sequences. Kill matching masked zombies in order.
| Round | Sequence Length |
|---|---|
| 1 | 3 masks |
| 2 | 4 masks |
| 3 | 5 masks |
Wrong kill means failure. Retry next round.
Best method: hold one zombie, write the order, then shoot only the marked types.
↖ Shoot the Flying Mask
After the mask glows, interact. Then shoot it in three spots.
| Order | Location | Item |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Workshop shelf | Teeshi's Pipe |
| 2 | Collapsed Study beam | Takio's Case |
| 3 | Onsen / Elemental Pop window | Mitsumame Comb |
Place all three in the Meditation Room to reveal Painting 1.
↖ Step 6: Coin Purse and Accomplice Evidence
Find the Mystery Box platform with the small tag.
Options:
- Move the Mystery Box manually.
- Use Fire Sale.
- Use any box-spawn support if your build allows it.
At the correct box:
1. Throw Maneki-Neko on the Mystery Box.
2. Spin the box.
3. Pick up the Coin Purse.
4. Go to spawn near Rampage Inducer.
5. Interact with the ghost purse.
Now the named zombie evidence opens.
↖ Step 7: Kill the Three Named Zombies
You need Gardener, Merchant, and Nobleman evidence.
↖ Gardener Evidence
Get a bucket.
| Bucket Spawn | Area |
|---|---|
| Onsen roof | Rooftop |
| Cat Café | Tea Garden |
| Gatehouse | Behind Speed Cola |
| Stables | Near Death Perception |
Fill it at Tea Garden puddle or Onsen pool.
Carry water to Flower Garden and water three weeds.
Do not sprint, jump, or take hits. You lose water.
The Gardener spawns immune. Break glowing flower pots first, then kill him.
Pick up:
- Gardening Shears
- Gardener Note
Place them on the evidence wall.
↖ Merchant Evidence
In Kitchens:
1. Melee the fruit basket.
2. Jump on the fruit three times.
3. Pick up Plum Pit.
4. Melee the shelf near Arsenal to drop another fruit.
5. Leave the area for 60–90 seconds.
6. Return and find a zombie eating fruit.
7. Lead it to the Staging Area window.
8. Kill it there.
The Merchant spawns. Kill him while he eats.
Pick up:
- Abacus
- Sales Log Note
Place them on the wall.
↖ Nobleman Evidence
Bring Decoys.
In Training Area, throw decoys at the three upper shuttered windows.
When blue grenades are thrown out:
1. Watch which window the Nobleman appears in.
2. Throw grenades back at that window.
3. Repeat until he dies.
Pick up:
- Nobleman's Hat
- Nobleman Note
Place them on the wall to reveal Painting 2.
↖ Step 8: Poison Evidence
You need Monkshood, Plum Pit, and Puffer Fish.
↖ Monkshood Flower
1. Pick up Poison Compendium in the War Room.
2. Grab Monkshood Flower in Flower Garden near the crack.
3. Place it in the pot near Tenshu Entrance.
↖ Volcanic Ash
1. Use charged Cat Wonder Weapon shot in Training Area to drop Empty Pouch.
2. Wait for a volcanic fissure.
3. Stand in the ash cloud until low health.
4. Receive Volcanic Ash.
5. Add it to the flower pot.
With Juggernog, expect around half HP before it triggers.
↖ Cherry Blossom Charge
Find a glowing cherry tree. Melee it if needed.
Stand under it until your HUD glows. Run to the flower pot and circle it until the tornado effect appears.
Pick up the powered Monkshood Flower.
↖ Puffer Fish and Scroll Puzzle
Go to the 3x3 scroll grid in Storage Rooms.
Goal: push all scrolls inward.
| Input | Effect |
|---|---|
| Hit a scroll | Toggles itself |
| Adjacent scrolls | Also toggle |
| Win state | All scrolls pushed in |
Reward:
- Pestle
- Death Records Note
Take the Pestle to Kitchens. Use a Brain Rot weapon to kill zombies near the pot until the soul box ends.
Interact with the ghost Pestle, then pick up Puffer Fish nearby.
Place poison evidence to reveal Painting 3.
↖ Step 9: Sake Cup and Location Evidence
Collect two ceramic shards.
| Shard | Location |
|---|---|
| Shard 1 | War Room near blood puddle |
| Shard 2 | From Painting 3 area |
Repair the Sake Cup at the Tea Garden table. Go next round, interact with the glowing cup, then pick it up.
Place and defend the cup at three locations.
| Order | Location | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | War Room map / painting area | Horse Statueette |
| 2 | Collapsed Study | Calligraphy Brush |
| 3 | Cat Café / Tea Garden | Tea Whisk |
The third step spawns a Hellhound that steals the cup. Chase it, kill it, grab the Tea Whisk.
Place all three items to reveal Painting 4.
↖ Step 10: Lava Statue, Clock Puzzle, and Crest Medallion
↖ Lava Statue
Go to Stables when the lava hardens.
Throw a Molotov or explosive at the glowing item in the cooled lava. Pick up the dropped statue part.
↖ Clock Puzzle
After Painting 4, interact with the clock in lower Storage Rooms. Note the four numbers.
Example: 5-3-6-4
Next round triggers an assault wave. Kill flag zombies. After the wave, flags appear in Staging Area.
Each flag's value equals its icon count.
| Flag | Value |
|---|---|
| 1 icon | 1 |
| 2 icons | 2 |
| 3 icons | 3 |
| 4 icons | 4 |
| 5 icons | 5 |
| 6 icons | 6 |
Now check four numbered symbol spots.
| Symbol Area | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Spawn | Position marker |
| Flower Garden near Wisp Tea | Position marker |
| Central Courtyard | Position marker |
| Stables rooftop | Position marker |
The clock sequence tells you what total to place at positions 1, 2, 3, 4.
If your clock is 5-3-6-4:
| Position | Needed Total |
|---|---|
| 1 | 5 |
| 2 | 3 |
| 3 | 6 |
| 4 | 4 |
Use one flag or combine flags.
| Needed | Possible Combo |
|---|---|
| 3 | 1 + 2 |
| 4 | 4 or 1 + 3 |
| 5 | 5 or 2 + 3 |
| 6 | 6 or 1 + 5 / 2 + 4 |
Correct placement gives a voice line. Return to the clock and pick up the Crest Medallion.
Place it to reveal Painting 5.
↖ Step 11: Solve the Murder Mystery
Now place the correct evidence under each painting.
| Painting | Correct Item |
|---|---|
| Painting 1 | Comb |
| Painting 2 | Accomplice item |
| Painting 3 | Poison / murder weapon |
| Painting 4 | Location item |
| Painting 5 | Crest Medallion |
↖ Painting 2: Accomplice
Activate Oni traps and get 15–20 trap kills during one activation. Then interact with the hidden ghost.
Use subtitles. The ghost names the accomplice.
| Ghost Says | Place |
|---|---|
| Merchant | Abacus |
| Courtier / Nobleman | Nobleman's Hat |
| Gardener | Gardening Shears |
↖ Painting 3: Poison
Read the doctor note and toxin note.
| Clue | Place |
|---|---|
| Noxious food / emesis | Puffer Fish |
| Noxious plant | Monkshood or Plum Pit depending on note logic |
| Paralysis | Monkshood Flower |
Double-check this. Most failed submissions come from Painting 3.
↖ Painting 4: Background
Look at the background image in Painting 4.
| Background | Place |
|---|---|
| Fish | Tea Whisk |
| Mountains | Horse Statueette |
| Bird | Calligraphy Brush |
↖ Zodiac Dial
1. Check the poison used for Painting 3.
2. Read its time-to-kill on the toxin note.
3. Read the doctor note's animal at time of death.
4. On the zodiac dial, find that animal.
5. Move counterclockwise by the poison hour value.
Example:
| Animal | Poison Time | Set Dial To |
|---|---|---|
| Boar / Pig | 1 hour | One slot counterclockwise |
| Horse | 2 hours | Two slots counterclockwise |
| Rat | 3 hours | Three slots counterclockwise |
Light both incense sticks to submit.
Correct result: orange orb flies to the World Seed.
Wrong result: elite enemy spawns. Retry next round.
↖ Step 12: Oni Mini-Boss
Interact with the World Seed and purify the sword.
You fight a stronger Oni.
| Threat | Answer |
|---|---|
| Mask projectiles | Keep moving wide |
| Heavy melee | Do not corner yourself |
| Add pressure | Use Maneki-Neko grenades |
| Burst windows | Shoot after dodging pulses |
Kill it. You return near Pack-a-Punch. The dragon unlocks the final boss route.
Do not enter yet. Prep first.
↖ Step 13: Upgrade Maneki-Neko Grenades
Upgraded Maneki-Neko grenades create a protective bubble. They are excellent in the dragon fight.
| Part | How to Get It |
|---|---|
| White powder | Activate Central Courtyard trap, shoot blue targets with Combat Bow |
| Cooker part | Under cooker in Kitchens |
| Matches | Shelf near Double Tap |
Take all parts to the original Maneki-Neko bench.
↖ Step 14: Final Dragon Boss Fight
Use the kite route when ready. You cannot return.
↖ Core Mechanic
1. Kill flag-carrying Oni.
2. Grab the flag.
3. Plant it in the capture zone.
4. Stand inside until charged.
5. Use the blue zone for protection.
6. Shoot the dragon's glowing weak spots.
↖ Boss Phases
| Phase | Flags Needed | Weak Spots | Main Danger |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | 1 | Eyes / head | Lava strips |
| Phase 2 | 2 | Body | Tornadoes, lava blasts |
| Phase 3 | 3 | Wings | Fireballs, arena denial |
↖ Fight Rules That Matter
- Stay mobile unless inside the blue zone.
- Shoot only weak spots when possible.
- Use upgraded cat grenades during captures.
- Grab Max Ammo and Max Armor between phases.
- When the arena burns, rotate behind cover or to safe edges.
- In solo, capture first, damage second.
Once the dragon's health is gone, the KOWAKUJO Easter Egg is complete.
↖ FAQ
↖ Can you complete the KOWAKUJO Easter Egg solo?
Yes. Solo is slower but reliable. Hold one zombie for puzzles, use Death Perception for the cat step, and enter boss with upgraded Maneki-Neko grenades.
↖ Why are paw prints not spawning?
You are likely at the wrong doorway, killing too far from the threshold, or missing the Maneki-Neko grenade. Check all five doorways and flip the round if needed.
↖ What is the best weapon for the final dragon boss?
Use a stable ranged weapon: AR, LMG, or marksman rifle. The boss has moving weak spots, so low recoil matters more than raw fire rate.
↖ What happens if the murder mystery answer is wrong?
An elite enemy spawns and the room locks the attempt until next round. Recheck Painting 2 accomplice, Painting 3 poison, Painting 4 background, and the zodiac dial.
↖ Are upgraded Maneki-Neko grenades required?
No, but they are one of the best safety tools in the fight. The protective bubble makes flag captures and armor recovery much safer.
↖ Summary
The clean KOWAKUJO route is:
1. Unlock Pack-a-Punch
2. Build Maneki-Neko grenades
3. Get the Cat Wonder Weapon
4. Shoot 11 lanterns
5. Finish mask evidence
6. Get Coin Purse
7. Kill Gardener, Merchant, Nobleman
8. Finish poison evidence
9. Repair Sake Cup
10. Solve clock and flags
11. Complete murder deduction
12. Upgrade Maneki-Neko grenades
13. Beat Oni mini-boss
14. Kill the dragon
Most failed runs come from three mistakes: scaring the cat, killing the wrong masked zombie, or misreading the murder puzzle. Slow down on those steps. Everything else is execution.
