COD Black Ops 7 Season 1 Maddox RFB Weapons No-Barrel Loadout & Drops Nukes

Do you remember the absolute dominance of the Maddox in Black Ops 4 seven years ago? It was the gun that defined an era. Now, with Season 1 of Black Ops 7 officially here, the legend has returned.

Usually, when developers bring back a classic, it feels watered down or balanced into mediocrity. The Maddox RFB is the exception.

After running extensive tests in Nuketown Domination and Kill Confirmed, I can confidently say: not only is it back, but it might also be better than before. Whether you are a sweat looking for a 100+ kill game or a casual player just trying to survive, this weapon is currently the best gun in the game.

COD Black Ops 7 Season 1 Maddox RFB Weapons No-Barrel Loadout & Drops Nukes

The Level 1 Anomaly

Here is something you rarely hear in modern COD: You don't need attachments to dominate with this gun.

I jumped into my very first match with a literal Level 1, naked Maddox. No grip, no sight, nothing. The result? I dropped 106 kills and called in a tactical Nuke.

What does this mean for you?

It means you can skip the painful leveling up phase where you usually get destroyed because your gun kicks like a mule.

  • Visuals: The iron sights are clean enough to work with immediately.
  • Recoil: Even without a foregrip, the beam is steady.
  • The Hack Accusations: The gun is so good that by the end of my first match, the enemy team was convinced I was wall-hacking, and my own teammates were asking if I was an AI because I wouldn't miss.

When a gun makes the lobby think you are cheating on your first try, you know the base stats are broken.

The Zero-Barrel Meta Loadout

While the base gun is a monster, we want to turn it into a laser beam that feels like the BO4 classic. After unlocking everything, here is the definitive setup. You'll notice something strange: I don't use a barrel. The range is already good enough; we want pure speed and handling.

Optic: ELO Sight

If you played BO4, you know this is non-negotiable. The iron sights are okay, but the ELO gives you that crystal-clear picture needed for snapping onto targets.

Underbarrel: EM Study 90 Grip

This is the sweet spot. It gives you horizontal recoil control (making the gun shoot straight) while boosting your sprinting movement speed. It makes you harder to hit while keeping your shots accurate.

Magazine: 50 Round Extended Mag

Here is a secret: The 50-round mag currently has no cons. No movement penalty, no reload penalty. It is free ammo.

Alternative: If you are a reload addict, the Plumage Fast Mag (40 rounds) is a solid choice, but I prefer the extra 10 bullets for multi-kills.

Rear Grip: Mobile Quickdraw Grip

This brings back that snappy feeling. It buffs your slide-to-fire speed and ADS speed. It allows you to play aggressively and win gunfights even if you get caught sprinting.

Stock: ADS Movement Stock

This increases your strafe speed (aim walking movement). In a face-to-face gunfight, this allows you to dance left and right, making the enemy miss while you melt them.

Combat Reality: Surviving the Ghost Meta

Having the best gun doesn't make you invincible. During my Nuke runs, I identified the biggest threat to your streak: The Ghost and Scout Perk combo.

Even when I earned my HARP (Advanced UAV), I found that players running Ghost were completely invisible to it.

If you rely solely on your minimap, you will die.

I had moments where I thought a lane was clear because my HARP was up, only to get shot in the back by a ghosted player. You have to use your eyes and game sense (Squad Link helps here) rather than blindly chasing red dots.

Perk Setup for Survival:

  • Scavenger: The Maddox eats ammo. You need this.
  • Gung-Ho: Essential for reloading while sprinting away from danger.
  • Looper: This allows you to earn your streaks (UAV/HARP) multiple times in one life.
  • Vigilance (Perk Greed): To counter Counter-UAVs and keep your map clear.

The Nuke Story: A Lesson in Resilience

To prove this loadout works under pressure, let me take you through the end of my Kill Confirmed match.

I was sitting on a Brutal Medal (25 kills), five away from the Nuke. Suddenly, the enemy called in a Guard Dog. If you've played BO7, you know these dogs are tanks.

The dog chased me across the entire map. I had to use the Maddox's superior movement speed to slide-cancel away, turn, dump half a mag into the dog, and keep running.

This is why we build for mobility

If I had built this gun for range (heavy barrel), that dog would have killed me. Because I built it for speed, I survived, killed the dog, flipped the spawn, and secured the final kill for the Nuke.

FAQ: Common Questions

Q: Is it actually better than the BO4 version?

A: Honestly, yes. The hit registration in BO7 feels crisper, and the no downsides on the 50-round mag makes it more forgiving than the original.

Q: Why no barrel attachment?

A: The Maddox already hits hard. Adding a barrel usually hurts your aim-down-sight (ADS) speed or movement. This gun shines when you play it like a hybrid SMG/AR. Don't ruin that agility for a tiny range buff.

Q: What if I don't have the ELO sight yet?

A: Grind through the levels. The iron sights are usable (better than most), but the ELO is what unlocks the gun's full aim-bot potential.

Final Verdict

The Maddox RFB is currently in its Honeymoon Phase. It is incredibly strong, fun to use, and statistically superior to almost every other Assault Rifle.

Developers have a habit of nerfing fun things. If you are looking to drop your first Nuke or just want to hear your teammates glaze you for dropping 100 kills, build this class tonight.

Get in there, equip the EM Study 90 and the ELO sight, and enjoy the free wins before the patch notes drop. Good luck, and I'll see you on the leaderboard
