MLB The Show 26 Mural Series Tier List: Best Cards to Use, Buy, Grind, and Avoid

The MLB The Show 26 Mural Series drop has a few real winners and a lot of collection filler. If you are trying to build a competitive Diamond Dynasty squad, focus on cards that actually play: switch hitters, extreme-pull bats, catcher eligibility, outlier bullpen arms, and proven swings.

MLB The Show 26 Mural Series Tier List: Best Cards to Use, Buy, Grind, and Avoid

MLB The Show 26 Mural Series Tier List

TierCardsQuick Read
S TierCarlos Santana, José Ramírez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Colin Moran Best cards in the drop
A TierManny Machado, David Ortiz, CC Sabathia, George Springer, Hunter Goodman, Roy Halladay Strong, usable, not perfect
B TierBrian Woo, Bob Gibson, Mike Moustakas, Troy Glaus, Dansby Swanson, Vladimir Guerrero Sr., José Bautista, Grady Sizemore Budget / theme / temporary options
C TierDuke Snider, Johnny Damon, Tony Gwynn, Ozzie Smith, Jeff Conine, Ryan Braun, Robb Nen-style RP, Alejandro Kirk Niche or platoon use
D TierBruce Sutter, Rod Carew, Brooks Robinson Collection-first cards

S Tier Mural Series Cards

These are the cards worth building around.

CardBest RoleWhy He MattersConcern
Carlos Santana C / 1B / 3B Switch bat, catcher eligibility, lineup flexibility Overpriced around 400K
José Ramírez 3B / INF Switch hitter, elite collection reward Expensive collection path
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B Best free first baseman Swing preference
Colin Moran RPOutlier sinker, high-end bullpen arm Will become common

Carlos Santana

Best card in the drop. Bad price.

Santana is elite because he plays catcher, first base, and third base while switch hitting. That combination is rare. At catcher, he may be the best option in the game.

The problem is the market. Around 400K stubs, you are paying early-hype tax. His quirks are not crazy enough, and his contact vs righties is not perfect for that price.

Buy range: closer to 220K.

Use now: only if your bankroll is huge.

José Ramírez

J-Ram is an easy S tier.

Switch hitter. Great power. Good contact. Better defense than people expect. His swing has been trusted for years.

Compared with Chipper Jones, J-Ram likely has more power and better defensive stats. Chipper likely wins on contact. Pick the swing you hit better with.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Best free bat in the Mural Series.

For a program reward, Vlad Jr. is excellent. If you need a first baseman and do not want to spend stubs, grind him first.

The only question is swing comfort. If you like Vlad Jr. cards, he plays above the price because the price is zero.

Colin Moran

Best Mural Series reliever.

The reason is simple: Outlier sinker. That pitch is still one of the nastiest weapons in Diamond Dynasty.

His lower version already played well. This diamond version gives more players a reason to finally use him.

A Tier Mural Series Cards

Strong cards. Not automatic god-squad locks.

CardBest UseVerdict
Manny Machado 3B / events / mini seasons Great swing + extreme pull
David Ortiz 1B / DH Big lefty power, crowded position
CC Sabathia SP Usable lefty starter
George Springer OF Solid Mini Seasons reward
Hunter Goodman C / bench bat Budget power bat
Roy Halladay SP Better on HOF/Legend

Manny Machado

Machado is better than the attributes suggest because he has an extreme-pull swing profile. That matters. Extreme-pull hitters reward good timing and punish inside mistakes.

If you liked early-year Machado cards, this one will feel good immediately.

David Ortiz

Ortiz is fine. Big lefty bat. Familiar swing. Good power.

But first base is stacked. If you already have Vlad Jr., Santana, V-Mart, or another premium bat, Ortiz is not a major upgrade.

CC Sabathia

This CC is usable. Better velocity. Better H/9. Lefty starters always have value.

He is not a top-end rotation monster, but he is safe enough for most players.

George Springer

Springer is a good reward card, but 92 overall feels light. Good righty swing. Good quirks. Fine in right field.

The issue is outfield depth. There are too many switch hitters and elite outfield bats.

Hunter Goodman

Goodman is one of the best budget bats in the drop.

He has:

  • Great righty swing
  • Around 100 power
  • Strong quirks
  • Catcher value

The contact is low. On All-Star, he rakes. On Hall of Fame, parallel him first. On Legend, he is risky.

Roy Halladay

Doc is better on higher difficulties because control matters more there. On All-Star, he is easier to read.

Good pitch mix. Not enough overpowering velocity.

B Tier Mural Series Cards

Usable, but not cards we force into a competitive lineup.

CardRoleMain Issue
Brian Woo Budget SP Nothing elite
Bob Gibson SP No Outlier
Mike Moustakas Corner bat Overpriced early
Troy Glaus 3B Position is crowded
Dansby Swanson SS Budget-only value
Vladimir Guerrero Sr. Bench bat vs LHP Not full-time value
José Bautista Power bat Swing is polarizing
Grady Sizemore OF Usable, not special

Best B-Tier Value Picks

CardWhy He Can Work
Mike Moustakas Glitchy fast swing; wait for price drop
Dansby Swanson Best shortstop from this drop by default
Brian Woo Decent budget rotation arm
Vlad Sr. Good bench/platoon bat vs lefties
José Bautista Power plays if you like the swing

Bob Gibson Warning

Bob Gibson without Outlier is not scary enough. He still throws hard, but strong hitters will time him up.

If his price is inflated because of the name, sell.

Mike Moustakas Price Note

Moose has a very fast swing, but do not pay 50K early. He is an event reward. More supply should push him down.

C Tier Mural Series Cards

These cards have narrow use cases. Most are platoon bats, theme-team cards, or collection pieces.

CardUse CaseProblem
Duke Snider Bench/platoon vs RHP Not full-time
Johnny Damon Contact OF Weak defensive fit
Tony Gwynn Contact/defense OF No power
Ozzie Smith Defensive SS No power
Jeff Conine Bench bat vs LHP Platoon-only
Ryan Braun Corner OF Swing preference
Robb Nen-style RP Bullpen depth Generic mix
Alejandro Kirk Catcher Slow, replaceable

Who Is Actually Usable?

  • Duke Snider: fine bench bat vs righties.
  • Jeff Conine: lefty-killer pinch hitter.
  • Johnny Damon: usable if you like his swing.
  • Ozzie Smith: defense-only shortstop.

The problem is simple: none of them bring enough offense for serious Ranked play.

D Tier Mural Series Cards

Avoid for competitive use.

CardWhy to Skip
Bruce Sutter Pitch mix rarely works in MLB The Show
Rod Carew Contact-only profile is not enough
Brooks Robinson Defensive 3B with weak offensive value

These are collection or theme-team cards. Do not force them into ranked lineups.

Best Mural Series Cards to Buy

Buy based on price, not hype.

CardBuy AdviceReason
Carlos Santana Buy near 220K, not 400K Elite but overpriced
Manny Machado Buy if reasonable Extreme pull + good swing
Hunter Goodman Good budget buy Power catcher value
Moustakas Wait Event reward supply should drop price
David Ortiz Only if you love the swing 1B is crowded
Bob Gibson Avoid if expensive No Outlier

Best Mural Series Cards to Grind

CardPriorityWhy
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. High Best free first baseman
George Springer Medium Solid Mini Seasons reward
Johnny Damon Market-dependent Sellable Diamond Quest reward
Ozzie Smith Market-dependent Sellable / collection card
Brian Woo Medium Budget SP
Dansby Swanson Medium Budget SS

If you grind for stubs, check the market first. If the reward price crashed, skip the grind.

Best Budget Mural Series Cards

CardBudget RoleWhy He Works
Vlad Jr. Free 1B Best no-stub bat
Hunter Goodman C / bench bat Power + swing
Dansby Swanson SS Usable fielding and bat
Brian Woo SP Cheap innings
George Springer OF Reward card with good quirks
Moustakas 3B / 1B Worth it only after price drop

For no-money teams, start with Vlad Jr. and Goodman.

Best Competitive Fits

PositionBest Mural Card
CatcherCarlos Santana
First BaseSantana / Vlad Jr. / Ortiz
Third BaseJosé Ramírez / Machado / Santana
ShortstopDansby Swanson
OutfieldSpringer / Vlad Sr. / Damon
BullpenColin Moran
RotationCC Sabathia / Roy Halladay

This drop is strongest at catcher, corner infield, and bullpen. It is weaker at shortstop and outfield.

Cards to Avoid Overpaying For

CardReason
Carlos Santana at 400K Great card, bad value
Moustakas at 50K Event reward should fall
Bob Gibson No Outlier
David Ortiz Not a huge upgrade
Ozzie Smith Defense-only
Bruce Sutter Poor in-game fit

When in doubt, wait 24–72 hours. New-card prices usually cool off.

FAQ

Who is the best Mural Series card in MLB The Show 26?

Carlos Santana is the best overall card because he switch-hits and plays catcher, first base, and third base. José Ramírez is the best collection reward and is close behind.

Is Carlos Santana worth 400K stubs?

No for most players. He is elite, but 400K is early-hype pricing. A better buy range is closer to 220K.

Is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. worth grinding?

Yes. Vlad Jr. is the best free first baseman in the Mural Series and one of the safest no-stub bats available.

What is the best budget Mural Series card?

Hunter Goodman is the best budget bat if you need catcher power. Vlad Jr. is the best free option.

Is Bob Gibson good without Outlier?

He is usable, but not scary. Without Outlier, his fastball is much easier to time. Do not overpay.

Summary

The best MLB The Show 26 Mural Series cards are Carlos Santana, José Ramírez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Colin Moran.

Buy Santana only if his price drops. Grind Vlad Jr. if you need a free first baseman. Use Colin Moran if you want a serious bullpen upgrade. Target Machado and Goodman for strong value bats.

Avoid paying hype prices for Moustakas, Bob Gibson, Ortiz, Ozzie Smith, and Bruce Sutter. The best cards in this drop fit the current meta: switch bats, extreme-pull hitters, catcher eligibility, and outlier bullpen stuff.
