PoE 3.26 Harbingers Farming Guide: Best Atlas Tree Strategy

PoE 3.26 Harbingers Farming Guide: Best Atlas Tree Strategy

In PoE 3.26, Even as the season rolls on and players try out new builds, farming Harbingers is still one of the safest ways to keep your pockets jingling. That's because these sea-dwelling bosses hand over crafting goodies—like fracturing orbs—that people seem to want no matter what else is trending. Today we'll break down the ideal Atlas setup, recommend which scarabs make the biggest impact, and lay out a quick route so you can turn maps into steady currency.

How Does It Work?

About the Start

1. Focus on Pack Size:

Harbingers are not affected by item quantity. Instead, prioritize increasing pack size to spawn more monsters and generate more shards. Aim for maps with at least 30% pack size, preferably 40% or higher.

2. Target Valuable Shards:

Focus on collecting high-value shards like:

  • Fracturing Orb Shards: Extremely profitable (approx. 40 Divines per orb).
  • Ancient Orb Shards: Stable profit (approx. 8 Chaos per orb).
  • Exalted Shards: Another lucrative option.

Block low-value shards like transmutation and alteration shards to save time.

3. Fracturing Orbs Are Key:

Fracturing shards drop frequently during farming sessions and make up a significant portion of your profits. There's also a rare chance to drop Mirror Shards, which can be a huge bonus.

Scarab Setup

Using the right scarabs is crucial for maximizing your returns.

Scarab Type Effect
Harbinger Scarab Spawns additional Harbingers in your maps.
Harbinger Scarab (Obelisks) Duplicates currency shard drops from Harbingers, increasing overall profits.
Harbinger Scarab (Regency) Provides a 50% chance for Harbingers to be replaced by powerful bosses (up to 75% with tree).
Additional Option Use another Harbinger Scarab or Scarab of Bones for extra pack size.

Note: If you're running a map device with limited slots, prioritize Obelisks and Regency scarabs. Activate the Harbinger map device mod (3 Chaos) to spawn three additional Harbingers per map.

Run T17 Maps

Start by running at least Tier 17 maps whenever you can. The extra monster density and spawn bonuses that kick in at this level really pump up the pack size, and more packs mean more Harbingers and more loot.

If that stash of high-tier maps runs dry, don't panic—Tier 16 maps with high pack-size rolls still keep the strategy afloat. Both options reward you handsomely while letting you focus on the boss fight itself instead of hunting down scarce drop locations.

Atlas Tree

The Atlas Tree is key to farming Harbingers efficiently.

Harbinger Nodes:

  • Guaranteed Harbinger Spawn: Ensures a Harbinger appears in every map.
  • Cooldown Reduction: Reduces Harbinger summon cooldowns for faster encounters.
  • Currency Shard Conversion: Increases the chance of dropping full currency items instead of shards.
  • Powerful Harbinger Orbs: Boosts the chance of spawning stronger Harbingers with better rewards.

Beyond Nodes

Combine Harbingers with Beyond for even more monsters and loot:

  • Pale Clarion: Increases the chance of spawning Beyond demons and improves their currency drop rate.
  • Endless Tide: Prevents Beyond monsters from stopping after killing the map boss. This ensures a steady flow of monsters until the map ends.
  • Fiendish Opulence: Increases the quantity of tainted currency dropped by Beyond demons.

Scarabs and Modifiers

  • Scarabs Nodes: Take nodes like Remarkable Relics and Amplified Artifacts to increase Ambush Scarab drops. These scarabs can be sold or used for additional profit.
  • Explicit Modifiers: Allocate nodes that enhance pack size and monster density for better loot.

How to Choose?

When farming Harbingers, it's generally better to run maps influenced by Exarch rather than Eater of Worlds:

  • Exarch Influence: Provides a steady flow of currency, chaos orbs, and additional rewards.
  • Eater Influence: Focuses on quantity but relies on finding Divine Altars, which can be inconsistent.

How to Make Farming Cheaper?

If you're looking to save currency while farming Harbingers, here's how you can adjust your setup:

1. Replace Regency Scarabs

Regency Scarabs are usually the most expensive option, costing around 8 Chaos Orbs (chaos). Instead of using Regency, opt for another Harbinger Scarab.

  • Pros: More Harbingers spawn, and you'll pay significantly less.
  • Cons: Fewer bosses will appear, but this trade-off can be worth it if you're on a tight budget.

2. Keep War Hordes Scarabs

War Hordes Scarabs are essential because they double shard drops, which is a major source of profit. Avoid replacing them, as doing so could cut your earnings in half.

3. Alternative Setups

If you're trying to minimize expenses, consider this setup: 3 Normal Harbinger ScarabsObelisks and War Hordes Scarabs. This combination balances cost and efficiency.

4. Skip Obelisks (Optional)

Some players dislike using Obelisks. In that case: Use triple Harbinger Scarabs with Regency and War Hordes instead. However, Obelisks are relatively cheap and can boost your profits by stacking more Harbingers in maps.

Setup Option Cost Efficiency Profit Potential Recommended?
Triple Harbinger Scarabs + Obelisks + War Hordes High High Yes
Triple Harbinger Scarabs + Regency + War Hordes Medium Medium Optional
No Obelisks + Triple Harbinger Scarabs Low Low No

What Else?

Here are additional tips to enhance your farming experience:

Currency Drops

  • Harbingers provide a steady stream of fracturing shards, which are highly valuable.
  • Tainted currency from Beyond monsters can also drop during your runs, such as: Tainted Orb of Fusing (~20 Chaos Orbs) & Tainted Exalted Orb (~20 Chaos Orbs).
  • Collect these items in bulk and sell them for significant profit after a farming session.

Experience Gains

Because Harbingers summon waves of minions, they quickly rack up kill counts that push your experience bar forward. Whether you’re in a group or running solo, their mobs are a dependable XP fountain during a session.

Gold Drops

Harbingers aren't exactly generous when it comes to raw coin, yet the shards and uniques they leave behind more than make up for that shortfall. If you entered the encounter hoping for a stash of quick currency, you might be better off looking elsewhere.

All in all, farming Harbingers in PoE 3.26 remains a smooth and rewarding tactic for gaining both loot and levels, even if you’re working with modest gear or a relaxed budget. Adapt the methods above and you’ll find a rhythm that fits your playstyle nicely.
