ARC Raiders Assessors Guide: Easy Solo Loot Strategy With or Without Smoke Grenades

ARC Raiders Assessors Guide: Easy Solo Loot Strategy With or Without Smoke Grenades

Assessors look chaotic at first, but in practice they are much easier once we stop trying to brute-force them. The safest way to loot them is to treat each breach like a stealth puzzle: open one side, break aggro, loot during a safe window, then reset before touching the next side. That one adjustment alone fixes most failed runs.

Why Most Players Struggle With Assessors

The main problem is not damage or gear. It is tempo.

We usually see failed runs for three reasons:

  • players rush all three sides too quickly,
  • they stay exposed after the breach opens,
  • or they panic once ARCs start searching.

From experience, the players who clear Assessors consistently are not the fastest. They are the most patient. If you slow the encounter down, Assessors become much more manageable.

Best Ways to Loot Assessors

Here is the simplest comparison of the three practical methods.

MethodWhat You NeedDifficultyBest For
Full smoke Smoke grenades + Photoelectric Cloak Easy Safe solo farming
Small smoke Small smoke grenades + Cloak Medium Early progression
No-smoke stealth Cloak + nearby bush/cover Medium-High Budget runs or backup plan

The key takeaway: smoke helps, but it is not required.

The Easiest Method: Smoke + Cloak

If you already have proper smoke grenades, this is the most reliable setup.

How we do it

  • Throw smoke just before starting the breach.
  • Finish the breach inside the smoke.
  • Loot quickly.
  • Use Photoelectric Cloak and move off before ARCs fully lock onto you.

Why it works

Smoke buys a short safety window, but the real value is what happens after. It gives us enough time to loot without turning the Assessor into a full combat event.

If you find yourself dying after the breach is already open, this method usually fixes that.

No Full Smoke? Small Smoke Still Works

A lot of players skip Assessors because they do not have the smoke grenade blueprint yet. That is unnecessary.

Simple timing

With small smoke grenades, we can still make it work:

1. Throw one right before breaching.

2. Start the breach.

3. Stop briefly partway through.

4. Throw another small smoke.

5. Finish the breach.

6. Throw a third smoke before looting if needed.

Why this matters

The breach progress stays, so we do not have to force the entire interaction in one risky window. That makes small smokes surprisingly usable, even with their short duration.

A practical rule: plan around three small smokes per side.

Yes, You Can Do It Without Smoke

This is the trick many players overlook. If you have Photoelectric Cloak, you can often loot an Assessor without using smoke at all.

The basic loop

  • Start the breach.
  • Pop cloak immediately.
  • Move into a nearby bush or solid cover.
  • Stay still and let ARCs search.
  • Wait for them to lose interest, then go back.

ARC behavior matters

If the ARCs are searching but do not have your exact position, you are usually fine as long as you stay hidden.

ARC StateWhat It MeansWhat To Do
Red alert They know where you are Cloak and break line of sight
Yellow searching They are looking, not locked on Stay hidden and do not move
Disengaging Pressure is fading Reposition and continue

In my experience, this works best on Buried City and Dam Battlegrounds, where bushes and cover are easier to use. On Spaceport and some parts of Bluegate, it is noticeably less forgiving.

The Biggest Solo Mistake: Looting Too Fast

This is where most runs fall apart.

Every time we breach another side too quickly, we pull more local ARC pressure into the area. If we chain all three faces without resetting, the fight snowballs.

Better solo rhythm

  • breach one side,
  • loot it,
  • back off,
  • let ARCs disengage,
  • then return for the next side.

This is slower, but it is also far more reliable. Over a full evening of runs, this usually gives better loot than trying to speed-clear and dying halfway through.

Where to Farm the Smoke Grenade Blueprint

If you want the full smoke setup, focus on residential containers.

Best farming areas

LocationWhy It's Good
Buried City Strong residential loot routes
Bluegate Village High concentration of residential containers
Business Center Lobby / Atrium Efficient blueprint pathing
Dam Battlegrounds Apartments Solid backup route

From testing and community farming patterns, day raids are usually better for this. The loot pool tends to be less diluted than night raids or boosted events, which improves your odds of seeing the smoke grenade blueprint.

Resource Farming for Smoke and Cloak Repairs

Once we unlock the smoke grenade, the next bottleneck is crafting and maintenance.

The two materials that matter most are:

  • Canisters for smoke grenades
  • Speaker Components for Photoelectric Cloak upkeep

Good farming spots

AreaMain Resources
Buried City – Space Travel / Research Canisters, speaker components
Spaceport – Departure / Arrival Canisters, electronics
Bluegate – Gate Control Room Speaker components
Dam Battlegrounds – Research / Admin Mixed utility materials

If you plan to farm Assessors regularly, this resource loop is worth learning early. Without it, the strategy works for a few runs, then your inventory starts fighting you.

Smart Match Flow: Why Late Assessors Are Better

Another small shift that helps a lot: stop hard-committing to the first Assessor that lands.

Early match Assessors are often the most crowded. Late match is usually cleaner because:

  • some players have already extracted,
  • some are dead,
  • and fewer people are contesting the same loot.

That means if you survive the first part of the match and keep your cloak healthy, later Assessors often become much easier to clear solo.

FAQ

How many small smoke grenades should I bring?

For safety, assume three per Assessor side if you are relying on the small-smoke method.

Can I really loot Assessors without smoke grenades?

Yes. If you use Photoelectric Cloak well and play around bushes or cover, no-smoke clears are very realistic.

What is the safest map for this strategy?

Buried City is usually the easiest because the cover and route flexibility are strong. Dam Battlegrounds is also good. Open areas on Spaceport are harder.

Where does the smoke grenade blueprint drop?

It comes from residential containers, so route your farming around areas with dense residential loot.

Why do players fail Assessors so often?

Because they rush. Most failed attempts come from trying to breach and loot too many sides without letting ARC pressure reset.

Final Thoughts

Assessors get much easier once we stop treating them like a race. Whether we use full smoke, small smoke, or no smoke at all, the winning formula stays the same: breach one side, create a safe loot window, reset aggro, then repeat. That approach is cheaper, safer, and far more consistent for solo farming.
