Genesis Part 1 is a biome-based creature map. If you search randomly, you waste time. If you target the right biome, the map becomes simple.
The rule is clean:
- Ocean = water tames, pearls, island utility
- Volcano = Magmasaur, X-Anky, X-Rex, Pyromane
- Bog = Bloodstalker, bees, X-Spino, swamp predators
- Arctic = Ferox, Ovis, Kairuku, X-Yuty
- Lunar = Tek creatures, Gasbags, Astrocetus, Karkinos, light pets
We usually start Ocean or Bog, move into Arctic, then push Volcano and Lunar once gear is stable.

↖ ARK Genesis Creature Locations by Biome
| Biome | Best Creature Targets | Main Value |
|---|---|---|
| Ocean | Basilosaurus, X-Dunkleosteus, Megachelon, Paleo Arctopus | Water travel, metal, oil, ocean combat |
| Volcano | Magmasaur, X-Anky, X-Rex, Basilisk, Pyromane | Metal, eggs, combat, high-risk farming |
| Bog | Bloodstalker, X-Spino, bees, X-Raptor | Mobility, honey, swamp combat |
| Arctic | Ferox, Ovis, Kairuku, X-Yuty, X-Rhino | Mutton, polymer, support tames |
| Lunar | Tek creatures, Gasbags, Karkinos, Astrocetus, Cosmo | Electronics, hauling, Tek farming, endgame tames |
If you need a tame for survival, do Ocean first.
If you need movement, rush Bloodstalker.
If you need Tek resources, go Lunar.

↖ Ocean Biome Creature Locations
The Ocean biome is the safest early biome if you avoid deep alpha spawns. It gives starter travel, farming tames, and strong late-game aquatic options.
↖ Ocean Aquatic Creatures
| Creature | Where to Find | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| Paleo Arctopus | Ocean waters | Fast water travel, ink utility |
| X-Xiphactinus | Ocean waters | Bleed damage, aquatic combat |
| Ichthyosaurus | Ocean waters | Easy starter ocean tame |
| X-Megalodon | Ocean waters | Pack combat |
| X-Mosasaurus | Deep Ocean | Heavy aquatic combat |
| X-Dunkleosteus | Ocean resource zones | Metal, oil, stone farming |
| X-Helicoprion | Ocean waters | Knockout utility |
| X-Basilosaurus | Ocean waters | Oil, deep-water safety |
| Archelon / X-Archelon | Ocean waters | Herbivore taming food support, oxygen utility |
| Shastasaurus | Ocean spaces | Large aquatic mount |
| Megachelon | Ocean regions | Mobile ocean base |
| Parakeet Fish School | Near Megachelon zones | Required for Megachelon taming |
Best Ocean priorities:
1. Ichthyosaurus for early travel.
2. Basilosaurus for safe deep-water runs.
3. X-Dunkleosteus for underwater metal.
4. Megachelon when you want a mobile base.
If you are farming ocean metal, use X-Dunkleosteus.
If eels and jellyfish are ruining your run, use Basilosaurus.
↖ Ocean Island Creatures
Ocean islands carry a lot of non-aquatic utility creatures.
| Creature | Where to Find | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| Parrot | Ocean islands | Shoulder companion |
| Tidepool | Ocean islands | Aquatic support |
| Rex | Ocean islands | General combat |
| Acrocanthosaurus | Ocean islands | Apex carnivore |
| Bison | Ocean islands | Milk, imprint support chance |
| Megaraptor | Ocean islands | Fast solo combat |
| Gigantoraptor | Ocean islands | Egg, imprint, stat utility |
| Armored Dog Companion | Ocean islands | Companion utility |
| Ceratosaurus | Ocean islands | Speed, party utility |
| Dendotherium | Ocean islands | Team support |
| Drakeling Summer Variant | Ocean islands | Shoulder buff companion |
| Rock Elemental | Specific islands | Tanking, PvP utility |
| Jerboa | Desert islands | Weather warning |
| Morellatops | Desert islands | Water storage |
| Vulture | Desert islands | Spoiled meat utility |
| Lymantria | Desert islands | Silk farming |
| Dung Beetle | Island pockets | Fertilizer, oil |
| Achatina | Island pockets | Passive cementing paste |
Grab Dung Beetles and Achatina early if you are building long-term. They solve fertilizer and paste without constant farming.
↖ Ocean Alpha Creature Locations
Ocean alphas are not casual fights. They are worth it for XP, black pearls, and loot.
| Alpha Creature | Where to Find | Why Hunt It |
|---|---|---|
| Alpha Paleo Arctopus | Ocean waters | High-value ocean fight |
| Alpha Mosasaurus | Deep Ocean | Black pearls, XP |
| Alpha Tusoteuthis | Deep Ocean | Black pearls, XP |
| Alpha Rex | Ocean islands | XP, loot |
| Alpha Raptor / Alpha Carno variants | Ocean islands | Early alpha farming |
| Alpha seasonal variants | Ocean islands | Event-style drops |
If alphas are not spawning, clear normal creatures in the same area. Genesis alpha spawns often need spawn cycling.
↖ Volcano Biome Creature Locations
The Volcano biome is where you go for power. It is also where careless players lose kits.
↖ Volcano Creature Spawns
| Creature | Where to Find | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| X-Ankylosaurus | Volcano region | Metal farming |
| X-Trike | Volcano region | Early tank, berries |
| X-Allosaurus | Volcano region | Pack bleed damage |
| Magmasaur | Magmasaur cave / egg zone | Metal, combat, eggs |
| Araneo / cave spider-type creature | Volcano caves, islands | Knockout and cave utility |
| Basilisk | Volcano region | Fast combat, acid attacks |
| X-Rex | Volcano region | Heavy carnivore |
| Pyromane | Volcano pockets | PvP starter, combat |
| X-Rock Elemental | Volcano region | Tanking, soaking |
| X-Acrocanthosaurus | Volcano/Bog pockets | Apex combat |
↖ Best Volcano Targets
| Priority | Creature | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Magmasaur | Metal farming, eggs, combat |
| 2 | X-Anky | Reliable metal tame |
| 3 | X-Rex | Breeding and boss-style combat |
| 4 | Pyromane | Strong PvP starter |
| 5 | X-Rock Elemental | Soaking and tanking |
If you steal Magmasaur eggs, go light. Bring heat protection, movement tools, and an exit plan. Do not farm the egg cave like it is a safe cave. It is not.
↖ Bog Biome Creature Locations
The Bog biome is annoying early. It is also where one of the best Genesis tames lives: Bloodstalker.
↖ Bog Creature Spawns
| Creature | Where to Find | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| Bloodstalker | Bog trees | Map traversal |
| X-Spino | Bog waterways | Hydrated combat |
| X-Raptor | Bog region | Early combat |
| X-Parasaur | Bog region | Alarm tame |
| X-Paraceratherium | Bog region | Platform hauling |
| X-Tapejara | Bog region | Transfer tame, limited Genesis use |
| X-Acrocanthosaurus | Bog locations | Apex combat |
| X-Deinonychus-style predator | Bog-wide | Bleed damage |
| Elderclaw | Bog spots | Travel, resource utility |
| Giant Bees / Beehives | Specific Bog regions | Honey production |
↖ Why Bloodstalker Is Mandatory
Genesis restricts normal flyers. That makes Bloodstalker one of the best movement tames on the map.
It solves:
- Bad terrain
- Long biome travel
- Scouting
- Escape routes
- Taming setup movement
Bring blood packs. Bring backup gear. Expect the tame to get messy.
For honey, tame bees instead of gambling on wild hive routes. The Bog is hostile, and Bloodstalkers nearby can ruin a slow farming run.
↖ Arctic Biome Creature Locations
The Arctic biome is cold, but it is one of the best utility zones. It gives mutton, organic polymer, support tames, and strong X-creatures.
↖ Arctic Creature Spawns
| Creature | Where to Find | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| Ferox | Arctic zones, Ferox cave | Element transformation tame |
| Ovis | Arctic region | Mutton |
| Kairuku | Penguin/beaver region | Organic polymer |
| Castoroides | Beaver dam area | Cementing paste, wood |
| X-Yutyrannus | Arctic region | Courage roar, eggs |
| X-Woolly Rhino | Arctic region | Charge damage |
| X-Cryolophosaurus | Arctic locations | Knockout combat |
| X-Sabertooth | Arctic region | Hide, early combat |
| X-Otter | Arctic waters | Insulation, artifact carrying |
| X-Argentavis | Arctic zones | Utility off Genesis |
| Ice Drakeling Variant | Arctic locations | Shoulder companion |
| Procoptodon | Arctic region | Mobility |
| Ice giant / heavy Arctic threat | Deep Arctic | High-end combat challenge |
↖ Best Arctic Loop
Run the beaver + penguin + Ovis area.
You get:
- Cementing paste from dams
- Organic polymer from Kairuku
- Mutton from Ovis
- Wood from beavers
- Hide and meat as extras
This is one of the best mid-game utility routes on Genesis 1.
↖ Ferox Taming Note
Ferox requires Element. Do not show up empty-handed.
If you want Ferox, scout the Arctic locations and Ferox cave first, then return with Element and a clean taming setup.
↖ Lunar Biome Creature Locations
The Lunar biome is the endgame farming zone. It gives Tek creatures, electronics, element dust, and rare movement tames.
↖ Lunar Tek Creature Spawns
| Creature | Where to Find | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| Tek Rex | Lunar region | High-level Rex variant |
| Tek Trike | Lunar region | Tank, berries |
| Tek Stego | Lunar region | Soaking, berries |
| Tek Parasaur | Lunar region | Alarm, electronics |
| Tek Raptor | Lunar region | Early Tek farming |
| Attack Drone | Lunar region | Electronics, danger |
| Defense Unit | Lunar region | Electronics, ranged threat |
Kill Tek creatures, then harvest bodies with a Chainsaw.
Do not let your mount eat the corpse if you want better electronics and element dust.
↖ Lunar Cave and Rare Creature Spawns
| Creature | Where to Find | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| Gasbags | Lunar locations | Hauling, travel |
| Karkinos | Lunar caves | Chitin, organic polymer, carrying |
| Ravager | Lunar caves | Metal weight reduction, travel |
| Roll Rat | Lunar caves | Gems, rolling movement |
| Bulbdog | Lunar caves | Light pet |
| Shinehorn | Lunar caves | Light pet |
| Featherlight | Lunar caves | Light pet |
| Cosmo | Rare Lunar spawns | Web-swinging mobility |
| Yi Ling | Lunar cave areas | Feather/resource encounter |
| X-Sabertooth Salmon | Lunar water pockets | Niche farming |
| Astrocetus | Lunar sky regions | Endgame aerial war creature |
↖ Best Lunar Priorities
| Priority | Creature | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tek creatures | Electronics, dust, oil |
| 2 | Gasbags | Weight and movement |
| 3 | Karkinos | Chitin, polymer, utility |
| 4 | Ravager | Metal hauling |
| 5 | Astrocetus | Endgame creature |
| 6 | Cosmo | Rare mobility tame |
Lunar is worth the pain. It is the best place to farm Tek resources and some of the best non-flyer mobility options.
↖ Best Genesis 1 Creatures to Tame First
Do not chase rare tames first. Fix your biggest problem first.
| Problem | Best Creature | Biome |
|---|---|---|
| Need safe water travel | Ichthyosaurus / Basilosaurus | Ocean |
| Need map movement | Bloodstalker | Bog |
| Need metal | X-Anky / Magmasaur / Dunkleosteus | Volcano / Ocean |
| Need mutton | Ovis | Arctic |
| Need polymer | Kairuku / Karkinos | Arctic / Lunar |
| Need electronics | Tek creatures | Lunar |
| Need support | X-Yutyrannus | Arctic |
| Need hauling | Gasbags | Lunar |
| Need mobile base | Megachelon | Ocean |
| Need transformation tame | Ferox | Arctic |
↖ Best Progression Order
1. Ocean tame for safe travel.
2. Bloodstalker for mobility.
3. Arctic loop for mutton, paste, polymer.
4. Volcano tame for metal and combat.
5. Lunar Tek farming for electronics and dust.
6. Endgame tames like Ferox, Astrocetus, Megachelon.
This route avoids the usual Genesis trap: rushing hard zones before you can extract safely.
↖ Spawn Cycling Tips for Rare Genesis Creatures
Rare creatures and alphas can feel missing. Usually, the spawn pool is clogged.
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| No alpha spawning | Kill normal creatures nearby |
| Rare tame missing | Clear the spawn pocket and return |
| Bad level creature | Kill it and check later |
| Too many hostile spawns | Sweep with a strong mount |
| Cave spawn looks bugged | Leave and reset the area |
For rare targets like Cosmo, Ferox, Astrocetus, and high-level X-creatures, expect multiple sweeps. That is normal ARK.
↖ FAQ
↖ Where do Bloodstalkers spawn on Genesis Part 1?
Bloodstalkers spawn in the Bog biome, usually hanging from large trees. Bring blood packs, armor, and backup gear. The tame is dangerous but worth it because Genesis has restricted flyer movement.

Magmasaurs spawn in the Volcano biome, mainly in the cave and egg zone. Go in prepared with heat protection, fast movement, and a clear escape route.
↖ Where do Tek creatures spawn on Genesis 1?
Tek creatures spawn in the Lunar biome. Look for Tek Rexes, Tek Trikes, Tek Stegos, Tek Parasaurs, Tek Raptors, Attack Drones, and Defense Units. They are excellent for electronics and element dust.
↖ Where can we find Ferox on Genesis 1?
Ferox spawn in the Arctic biome, including Arctic spawn zones and the Ferox cave. Bring Element for taming.
↖ What are the best first tames on Genesis 1?
Best first picks are Ichthyosaurus for safe Ocean travel, Bloodstalker for mobility, Ovis for mutton, Kairuku for polymer, and X-Anky or Dunkleosteus for farming.
↖ Summary
Genesis Part 1 creature hunting is easy once you respect the biome system.
- Ocean gives water travel, Basilosaurus, Dunkleosteus, Megachelon, and island utility.
- Volcano gives Magmasaur, X-Anky, X-Rex, Basilisk, Pyromane, and X-Rock Elemental.
- Bog gives Bloodstalker, bees, X-Spino, X-Raptor, and swamp predators.
- Arctic gives Ferox, Ovis, Kairuku, X-Yuty, X-Rhino, and polymer routes.
- Lunar gives Tek creatures, Gasbags, Karkinos, Ravagers, Roll Rats, Cosmo, and Astrocetus.
