Perma Perks in BO2 Zombies aren't permanent. That's the trap. You grind for an hour, see the green flash, feel like a god — then lose it two rounds later because you didn't know the hidden rule. This guide skips the theory and gives you the exact unlock trigger, the exact loss trigger, and the fastest farm route for every single upgrade. Victis maps only: TranZit, Die Rise, Buried. Nothing works on Mob of the Dead or Origins.

↖ What Perma Perks Actually Are
Green flash = unlocked. That's your only confirmation. No menu, no notification, nothing else.
They carry between matches on Victis maps only. Every one has a hidden loss condition baked in — trip it, and the upgrade is gone, no warning.
| Map | Perma Perks? | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| TranZit | Yes | Fast revives, easy deaths |
| Die Rise | Yes | SVU headshot/sniper farming |
| Buried | Yes | PhD Flopper Lite |
| Mob of the Dead | No | — |
| Origins | No | — |
↖ Quick Revive
Unlock: Revive a teammate 17 times in one match. Grab a second controller if you're solo-farming.
Effect: Roughly doubles revive speed. Stack it with the actual Quick Revive perk and you're at ~4x normal speed.
Loss: Start a revive and fail to finish it. Don't tap revive unless you can complete it.
↖ Juggernog Health
Unlock: Go down before round 3, in 3 separate matches. TranZit rushes this fastest — down early, quit, repeat.
Effect:+90 health on top of base. Roughly 6 hits from normal zombies instead of 4.
Loss: Not just reaching round 15. The real rule: your max health changes after round 15. Buy Jugg before round 15 to lock this in safely.
↖ Deadshot / Headshot Damage
Unlock:5 collateral headshot multi-kills — one bullet, two-plus zombies, all headshots.
Best farm: Die Rise + SVU. Line zombies up in a hallway, shoot through heads.
Effect:Doubles headshot damage — huge for SVU, AN-94, Galil, HAMR.
Loss:25 non-headshot kills in a row. Mix in headshots if you're running explosives or trap kills.
↖ Tombstone
Unlock: Buy your 4th perk by round 6, across 3 matches. Bank points beforehand — you'll need them.
Effect: Going down only strips your most recently bought perk, not all of them. Buy order matters now.
Loss: Joining a match mid-progress past round 1, or specific perk/down conflicts in solo. Public lobbies make this risky.
↖ Steel Barricades
Unlock: Rebuild 74 boards on round 10+, without touching a Carpenter power-up.
Effect: Windows get steel boards — zombies take longer to break through.
Loss: Pass a round with zero board repairs. Make it a habit before ending every round.
↖ Steel Carpenter
Unlock: Grab Carpenter, then kill a zombie behind a barrier while it's rebuilding.
Effect: Carpenter now rebuilds with steel boards.
Loss: Grab Carpenter with no barrier zombies nearby to kill. Leave it if the timing's wrong.
↖ Red Insta-Kill
Unlock: Let 2 Insta-Kills expire with zero kills during either one.
Effect: Next Insta-Kill turns red — zombies die on contact for ~18 seconds.
Loss: Get hit while Insta-Kill is active. Yes, even with contact-kill on.
↖ Ray Gun Olympia
Unlock: 5 kills with no headshots, no melee, no post-repair kills — AND you've never hit round 10 on any BO2 Zombies map.
Effect: Buying the Olympia hands you a Ray Gun instead.
Loss: Reach round 10 on any Victis/MOTD/Origins map. Realistically, this needs a fresh account.
↖ PhD Flopper Lite (Buried Only)
Unlock: Take 30+ fall damage, 6 times. Farm it near the town Mystery Box stairway.
Effect: Dive-to-prone triggers an explosion + splash damage immunity.
Loss: Take 50+ damage from a single fall. Stop casually jumping off high ledges.
↖ Mystery Box Upgrade
Unlock: Buy and equip 5 box weapons in a row, before round 10.
Effect: Better odds on box pulls — 100% → 60% → 0% across your next 3 spins, resets after hitting a non-upgraded weapon.
Loss: Hit round 10. Dead for the rest of that match.
↖ Perk Refund
Unlock: Buy 50 perks total, then prone after your next 15 perk purchases.
Effect:+1,000 points back per qualifying buy. That's up to 15,000 points across 15 perks.
Loss: Skip proning after a perk buy. No exceptions — buy, then drop immediately.
↖ Half-Off Double Points
Unlock: Net +2,500 points during a single Double Points window.
Effect: All purchases are 50% cheaper during Double Points.
Loss: Gain any points during DP after this unlocks. It's now a shopping window, not a killing window.
↖ Sniper Bonus
Unlock:5 long-range sniper kills (roughly 800 units out — stand as far as the map allows).
Best weapon:SVU — good ammo, easy access on Die Rise.
Effect:+300 points per sniper kill.
Loss: Miss 3 sniper shots. Aim into grouped zombies to insure against misses.
↖ Pistol Points
Unlock: Kill with ≤25% accuracy and 8+ kills already logged.
Effect:2x points on pistol kills.
Loss: Kill anything above 25% accuracy. Hard to keep once you're actually good with a pistol.

↖ FAQ
↖ Are Perma Perks actually permanent?
No. They persist across matches, but each has a hidden loss condition. Some vanish in one bad round.
↖ What's the easiest Perma Perk to unlock?
Quick Revive. Grab a second controller, revive 17 times in one TranZit match, done.
↖ What's the best Perma Perk overall?
Juggernog Health, Quick Revive, Deadshot Damage, and Perk Refund — highest impact, lowest lifestyle change required.
↖ Does reaching round 15 kill the Juggernog Health upgrade?
Not directly. The real trigger is your max health changing after round 15 — usually from going down or buying Jugg late.
↖ Which map is best for farming Perma Perks?
Die Rise for SVU/headshot/sniper upgrades. TranZit for revives and quick unlocks. Buried is mandatory for PhD Flopper Lite.
↖ Summary
Every Perma Perk in BO2 Zombies is a trade. The game hands you an edge, but it expects a specific behavior in return — revive cleanly, land headshots, repair boards, prone after perks, don't get greedy during Double Points. Lock in Quick Revive, Juggernog Health, Deadshot Damage, Tombstone, and Perk Refund first — they're the highest-value, lowest-maintenance set. Layer in the specialized ones once you know your map and playstyle. Learn the hidden rules, and these not-so-permanent perks turn into the strongest edge in the game.
