Black Ops 7 New Fang Hoverpoint ELO Attachment Zero Recoil Optic Guides

Black Ops 7 New Fang Hoverpoint ELO Attachment Zero Recoil Optic Guides

New weekly challenges are live in Black Ops 7, bringing new attachments with them. The most notable new attachment is the Fang Hover Point ELO. If you have played the franchise long enough, you should be able to recognize its DNA. It is basically a spiritual successor to the Jack Glassless Optic from MW3, which was a very dominant optic in the meta.

So, does this optic live up to the expectations in BO7? We spent a lot of time testing this optic with multiple weapon classes, ranging from SMGs to LMGs. We were trying to see if the claims of zero recoil were true, or just a placebo. Here is what we found after testing it in live gameplay.

The Stats: What Are You Actually Trading Off?

What we want to talk about first are the numbers. The in-game description mentions that it is going to help with stability and mention a floating illuminated reticle, but does not state what the trade-off is going to be.

When we examine the detailed stats, we see the following:

  • The Benefit: Massive increase in Recoil Stabilization
  • The Cost: Approximately 4% decrease in ADS (Aim Down Sight) speed.

We understand you might have doubts about the impact that 4% change could make. On paper, it clearly looks like a nerf, but it is negligible for most mid to long range engagements. The sight is fitted with a low profile and a clearly defined dot. The low profile sight frame and the dot sight contributes to minimizing visual recoil which is the effect of the gun moving up and down which obscures the target you want to engage, and is of no concern as long as the actual recoil pattern is consistent.

Field Research: Which Weapons Provide the Most Advantages?

We have tested the Fang Hover Point ELO with 3 different archetypes of weapons and the feedback is encouraging.

1. The SMG Assessment: The Rev

We first worked with the Rev. Since the Rev's iron sights are bad, the sight is a requirement.

The Experience: Smoothing the sight picture is better. However, SMGs depend a lot on quick aiming and movement.

The Verdict: Overall improvement on the gun's stability is a plus but the slight increase in ADS works against the gun's main purpose. It functions, but it is not a revolutionary improvement.

2. AR Test: The AK

Next up is the AK. This weapon has some serious recoil which is perfect for testing the stability improvements.

  • The Experience: This is where the magic started happening. The visual recoil has been incredibly reduced. Enemy tracking at mid range became way easier compared to the standard ELO sight.
  • The Verdict: Great choice. If you want to build an AK for mid range this optic will make the recoil feel a lot more vertical and predictable.

3. The LMG Test: The Socal

Lastly we have the Socal LMG. This weapon is infamous for having an insane recoil pattern that is nearly impossible to manage during sustained fire.

The Experience: This was the first eureka moment. The Fang Hover Point ELO completely changed this weapon. The recoil felt like it was completely gone. The combination of the optic stabilization and the damage profile of the LMG made this weapon absolute insanity.

The Verdict:Best in Slot. If you are taking the Socal you have to run this optic. It feels like a cheat code.

ELO Fang vs ELO Standard Comparison

To assist in determining whether you should change your current builds, we have listed the main differences below:

Feature Standard ELO Fang Hyper Point ELO
Visual Clarity Good, standard frame Great, float, thin frame
Recoil Control Standard Improved Stability (Reduces visual shake)
Handling Neutral / Fast -4% ADS Speed
Best Range Close-Mid Mid-Long
Ideal Weapon SMGs / Aggressive ARs LMGs / Heavy ARs / Marksman Rifles

Why Recoil Stabilization is so Important

Gun Kick Control and Recoil Stabilization are often used interchangeably, and this leads to a lot of confusion. While Gun Kick keeps the weapon from bouncing in an upward direction, Stabilization prevents the jitter and visual shake to the left and right.

While using the Fang Hover Point ELO in the Socal event, the reduced visual noise helped us focus on the target effortlessly. Even though the weapon may be moving, your brain finds it easier to track moving targets when your crosshair stays flush to the center of the screen. That is the reason the optic seems to give you zero recoil. It eliminates the visual distractions that results in you blowing the shot.

FAQ

Q: What are the steps to unlock the Fang Hover Point ELO?

A: You must complete the weekly missions for Black Ops 7. You can check the challenges menu to see what you need to complete.

Q: Is this available in Ranked Play?

A: At the time, it depends on the current ranked ruleset, which changes often. But this is open in public lobbies and Warzone.

Q: Is the -4% ADS speed affecting the gun's performance?

A: You may feel an impact on an SMG, but with Assault rifles and LMGs, the change is too small to notice especially when you consider the benefit you get for being able to hit your initial shots because of the stability.

Q: Is this better than the Jack Glassless from MW3?

A: It's more or less the same idea. If you enjoyed the Jack Glassless, you'll enjoy this equally, if not more. On heavy weapons like the Socal, it might feel better because of BO7's (Black Ops 7) new recoil mechanics.

Final Thoughts

Having tested this attachment thoroughly, we can say with confidence that the Fang Hover Point ELO is not a filler attachment. It may be less useful for your close-quarters SMGs, but for Assault Rifles and LMGs, it is easily the best optic.

The trade-off in ADS (aim down sight) speed is more than worth it for clearer and more stable sights. If you have not done your weeklies yet, we recommend trying to get this attachment as it is game changing on weapons like the Socal. You will not enjoy standard sights, or even old school red dots as much afterward.
