How to Unlocking Elden Ring Nightreign: Duchess and Revenant Class?

As outlined in the Elden Ring: Nightreign DLC, players can explore a collection of eight distinct characters right from the beginning. However, only six are playable at the start of the game. To access two classes, Duchess and Revenant, additional game-specific actions are necessary. This guide aims to unlock and elaborate on the steps needed to access both classes.

How to Unlocking Elden Ring Nightreign: Duchess and Revenant Class?

Unlocking The Duchess

Duchess is one of the hidden classes of Elden Ring: Nightreign. Below are the prerequisites for unlocking the Duchess character.

- Step 1: Entering Roundtable Hold

Completing the tutorial grants you access to Roundtable Hold, where you find a lady donned in white cloaks along with a mask; she is the Duchess.

- Step 2: Acquiring Old Pocket Watch

To unlock Duchess, one needs to obtain an item called the Old Pocket Watch. This item can be acquired by finishing the expedition Tricephalos. It is worth noting that winning or losing the expedition does not impact the end result as long as you finish the Old Pocket Watch.

- Step 3: Give the Duchess the Old Pocket Watch

When you have the Old Pocket Watch, go back to the Roundtable Hold and talk to the Duchess. She will give you an option to either present the relic or keep it. You may think that you are losing the relic by giving it to her, but you can still use it in your build during Relic Rites.

After giving the Old Pocket Watch, a cutscene will play where the Duchess gets ready to fight the darkness. After this scene, she will be fully unlocked as a playable character.

- How to Change Characters

To change to the Duchess or any other unlocked character, access your map in the Roundtable Hold and click Character selection in the pop up menu. This will open another window where you can select from the characters you have. Keep in mind that switching characters can only be done at the special bell found at the main hall of the Roundtable Hold. You cannot switch characters during a match.

How to Unlock Revenant

The Revenant is yet another hidden class in Elden Ring: Nightreign, and it has some specific requirements in order to be unlocked. Here is how you can add this spectral fighter to your roster:

- Step 1: Finish the Tutorial and Unlock Duchess

There's a pre-requisite that needs to be done before moving to Revenant's unlock sequences. This involves going to the Roundtable Hold and finishing the tutorial alongside unlocking the Duchess as a playable character. This step is mandatory for moving forward towards Revenant unlock progression.

- Step 2: Acquire the Besmirched Frame

After unlocking Duchess, you can purchase an item called Besmirched Frame from the Vessel Bazaar. This item has a cost of 1,500 Murk (in-game currency). Trübe can be obtained through expeditions, regardless of their outcome.

- Step 3: Interact with Revenant

Now with the Tarnished Frame in your possession, head to the character-switching corridor in the Roundtable Hold. Stick to your left side and you should see a ghostly character looking at some paintings on a wall. Interacting with this trigger sequence.

You'll be teleported to a small arena where you will be required to duel the Revenant along with three of its minions. Defeating the boss will automatically give you the Revenant as a class you can now play, and you will be sent back to Roundtable Hold.

- Strategies for Defeating the Revenant

One of the hardest parts of the Revenant is dealing with his three allies, and the fact that this is a solo-only fight proves vastly annoying. Here are some useful tips that may help:

Take Out Minions In Order: Focus on killing the minions in this order:

  • Page
  • Large Skeleton
  • Masked Troll

By focusing on eliminating these minions one at a time, you will persistently decrease their overall power.

Do Not Rush Into Close Range: The Large Skeleton has the ability to shoot a devastating laser beam from far away. Focus on dodging until the threat is dealt with first.

Watch Out for Holy Disks: Revenants can launch three holy disks that cause great damage. Stay away from these disks at all costs, especially during this time.

Take Advantage Off Openings: When engaging in close combat, wait until the Revenant attacks so you can quickly strike back. Use rapid reaction counters to deal damage.

Suggested Heroes

The Raider: Perfect for taking damage.

Both The Executor and Iron-Eye are proficient in countering and parrying.

Iron-Eye gives himself extra safety with his ranged combat style in this fight.

Changing Characters After Unlocking

Like with other characters, to change to Revenant, you still have to go to the map of Roundtable Hold and choose Character Selection. As a reminder, character swapping is only at the special bell in the main hall, not available in mid-game. Completing these steps allows you to unlock two of Elden Ring: Nightreign's most fascinating hidden classes: The Duchess and The Revenant, increasing the number of playable characters. Best of luck on your journey into this dark, difficult world!
