The only crafted quantum drives most players should care about are VK-00, XL-1, and TS-2.
They are Military Grade A drives. They cover Size 1, Size 2, and Size 3 ships. They matter because quantum travel eats time, especially in Pyro. A better drive means faster jumps, lower fuel burn, and less dead time between contracts.
The bottleneck is not crafting. It is getting the blueprints and the right materials.

↖ Military Grade A Quantum Drives: What to Craft
| Drive | Size | Type | Best Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| VK-00 | Size 1 | Military Grade A | Fighters, small ships |
| XL-1 | Size 2 | Military Grade A | Daily ships, medium haulers |
| TS-2 | Size 3 | Military Grade A | Large ships, cargo, Pyro travel |
If you fly large ships, craft the TS-2 first.
That is where the time saved is easiest to feel.

↖ How to Unlock VK-00, XL-1 and TS-2 Blueprints
You need Master rank with Covalex to access the blueprint farm.
The blueprint source is Master Covalex interstellar hauling contracts. These contracts can reward component blueprints, including VK-00, XL-1, and TS-2.
Important: these missions give 0 reputation.
They are for money and blueprints only.
↖ Covalex Blueprint Contract Rules
| Contract Type | Use for Blueprint Farm? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Local hauling | No | Not useful here |
| Planetary hauling | No | Rank-restricted |
| Stellar hauling | No | Not the target |
| Interstellar hauling | Yes | Best blueprint source |
| Master Covalex runs | Yes | Blueprint chance, no rep |
You cannot use these to power-level a lower-rank friend. But a Master Covalex player can help a group chase blueprint rewards through shared interstellar runs.
↖ Best Blueprint Farming Route
Stack Covalex Master interstellar contracts going to the same destination.
Do not run one contract at a time. That wastes travel.
↖ Good Blueprint Routes
| Origin | Destination | Why It Works |
|---|---|---|
| Port Tressler | New Terran Station | Easy Stanton-to-Pyro run |
| Baijini Point | Ruin Station | Strong interstellar route |
| Port Tressler | Ruin Station | Good Pyro loop |
| Everus Harbor | Levski | Useful Nyx route |
| Stanton stations | Pyro / Nyx stations | Best for stacking |
↖ Fast Blueprint Run
1. Accept 3–4 Covalex Master interstellar contracts.
2. Make sure they share the same destination.
3. Load one container from each contract.
4. Keep cargo separated.
5. Deliver all containers.
6. Check blueprint rewards.
7. Grab return contracts if available.
The blueprint pool has about 9 components, so expect repeats. If you need a specific drive, prepare for multiple runs.
↖ Quantum Drive Crafting Materials
All three drives use the same materials:
- Borase
- Tungsten
- Steleron
Each one controls a different stat.
↖ Material Stat Effects
| Material | Affects | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Tungsten | Quantum speed | Highest |
| Steleron | Quantum fuel burn | High |
| Borase | Integrity | Lower |
Use your best Tungsten and Steleron.
Borase matters, but speed and fuel burn affect every jump.
A good working target is 500+ quality on Tungsten and Steleron when possible.
↖ VK-00, XL-1 and TS-2 Material Requirements
| Drive | Borase | Tungsten | Steleron | Craft Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VK-00 | 35 cSCU | 14 cSCU | 14 cSCU | 15 min |
| XL-1 | 124 cSCU | 50 cSCU | 50 cSCU | 20 min |
| TS-2 | 4.28 SCU | 1.72 SCU | 1.72 SCU | 30 min |
The TS-2 is the expensive one. Plan mining capacity before you start. Running back and forth for small loads gets old fast.
↖ Best Mining Locations for Borase, Tungsten and Steleron
Farm in Pyro if you want the cleanest route.
You need Steleron anyway, and Steleron is effectively a Pyro material.
↖ Best Material Locations
| Material | Best Spot | Backup Spots | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Borase | Ader | Pyro 4, Pyro 3, Fuego, Ignis, Glaciem Ring | Mine with Tungsten on Ader |
| Tungsten | Ader | Pyro, Pyro 4, Lagrange F, Wala, Lyria | Ader is the efficient pick |
| Steleron | Pyro 4 | Monox, Pyro 1, Bloom, Pyro 3, Terminus | Pyro-only material |
↖ Why Ader Is the Best Borase and Tungsten Farm
Ader, a moon around Pyro 5, is the cleanest place to farm Borase + Tungsten together.
| Why Ader Works | Result |
|---|---|
| Borase and Tungsten both spawn there | Fewer mining trips |
| Lighter atmosphere than rougher moons | Easier handling |
| Useful Pyro routing | Less wasted travel |
| Extra resources available | Better side value |
In practice, Ader is where we go first. If you need both Borase and Tungsten, there is no reason to split the trip unless scans are terrible.
↖ Best Steleron Farm: Pyro 4
For Steleron, start on Pyro 4.
Some pilots prefer Monox. That is fine. Steleron can feel streaky. If you scan too long with bad results, move.
↖ Steleron Spot Comparison
| Location | Use Case | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pyro 4 | Best first stop | Also has Borase, Copper, Laranite |
| Monox | Strong backup | Good if Pyro 4 feels dry |
| Terminus | Refinery-friendly | Convenient near Ruin Station |
| Bloom | Backup | Usable if routing nearby |
| Pyro 1 / Pyro 3 | Backup | Not my first pick |
Pyro 4 has extra value because Copper and Laranite are useful for other crafts. If you craft more than quantum drives, it is worth the trip.
↖ Stanton Mining Options
You can get some materials in Stanton, but not the full set.
| Material | Stanton Availability | Problem |
|---|---|---|
| Tungsten | Wala, Lyria, ARC-L1, ARC-L2, ARC-L4, HUR-L2 | Easy enough |
| Borase | Some Lagrange and belt sources | Less direct |
| Steleron | No practical Stanton source | Go Pyro |
If you already have Tungsten or Borase in Stanton, use it.
If starting from zero, Pyro is cleaner.
↖ Crafted TS-2 Stat Examples
A crafted TS-2 can roll better than stock in the stats that matter.
↖ Realistic TS-2 Results
| Roll | Integrity | Quantum Speed | Fuel Burn | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TS-2 Example 1 | 2241.12 | 440.28 | 122.49 | Faster, more efficient |
| TS-2 Example 2 | 2397 | 451.2 | 131 | Faster, still efficient |
| TS-2 Example 3 | Similar | Similar | Similar | Repeatable with similar mats |
This is why material quality matters.
Better Tungsten pushes speed.
Better Steleron cuts burn.
Borase mostly keeps durability respectable.
For large ships, even small travel gains add up fast across Pyro routes.
↖ Best Crafting Priority
Craft for the ship you actually fly.
| Player Type | Craft First | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fighter pilot | VK-00 | Cheap, fast, useful |
| Medium ship pilot | XL-1 | Best daily-driver value |
| Hauler / large ship pilot | TS-2 | Biggest time save |
| Org logistics | TS-2 then XL-1 | Supports fleet utility |
A perfect drive in storage is worthless.
A good drive in your daily ship saves time every session.
↖ Best Full Route: Blueprint to Crafted Drive
Use this loop if you are starting from scratch.
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Reach or group with Master Covalex |
| 2 | Stack interstellar Covalex contracts |
| 3 | Deliver to the same destination |
| 4 | Farm blueprint rewards |
| 5 | Mine Borase + Tungsten on Ader |
| 6 | Mine Steleron on Pyro 4 |
| 7 | Refine and sort by quality |
| 8 | Craft VK-00 / XL-1 / TS-2 |
| 9 | Install and test |
That route keeps travel low and avoids random mining.
↖ Common Mistakes
| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| Expecting Master contracts to give rep | They give 0 rep |
| Running single blueprint contracts | Stack several to one destination |
| Mixing cargo | Keep each contract's container separated |
| Farming Steleron in the wrong system | Go Pyro |
| Using bad Tungsten on TS-2 | Save good Tungsten for speed |
| Overvaluing Borase | Prioritize Tungsten + Steleron |
| Ignoring craft times | VK-00 15m, XL-1 20m, TS-2 30m |
The main rule: do not craft expensive drives with trash speed materials. Save your best Tungsten for the drive you care about most.
↖ FAQ
↖ How do you unlock VK-00, XL-1 and TS-2 blueprints?
You need access to Master Covalex interstellar hauling contracts. These contracts can reward component blueprints, including Military Grade A quantum drives. The reward pool has about 9 components, so it may take multiple runs.
↖ Do Master Covalex blueprint missions give reputation?
No. They give 0 reputation. They are only useful for money and blueprint rewards. If you are not Master rank yet, grind Covalex rep through normal hauling first.
↖ What materials do Military A quantum drives need?
They all require Borase, Tungsten, and Steleron. Tungsten affects quantum speed, Steleron affects fuel burn, and Borase affects integrity.
↖ Where should I mine Borase, Tungsten and Steleron?
Mine Borase and Tungsten on Ader in Pyro. Mine Steleron on Pyro 4 first, then try Monox or Terminus if scans are bad.
↖ Is the TS-2 worth crafting?
Yes, especially for large ships. A crafted TS-2 can increase quantum speed and reduce fuel burn. On long Pyro routes, that saves noticeable time every session.
