ARC Raiders Amplified Bettina: X-Rounds vs Bigger Mag PvE Guide
We recommend Semi-Auto into X-Rounds for accurate armor-component shooting, and Bigger Mag for full-auto players who lose damage opportunities to reloads. Both routes are permanent and mutually exclusive, so choose by your usual failure point—not an impressive kill clip.

Choose the Branch That Fixes Your Build
Does a larger magazine mean faster kills? Only when you can use the extra rounds during a useful firing window.
The Bettina reference lists 22 rounds as standard; the community-sourced amplification breakdown documents these upgrade effects and costs.
| Upgrade | Stat changes | Materials | Choose it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bigger Mag | 37-round magazine; retains full-auto | 3 Pressure Regulators | Longer firing windows and fewer reload interruptions |
| Semi-Auto | +3 base damage; 20% reduced maximum shot dispersion; 20% reduced fire rate | 3 Pneumatic Actuators | Deliberate shooting; prerequisite for X-Rounds |
| X-Rounds | Explosive rounds; another +3 base damage; 25% increased damage against ARC armor; 18-round magazine | 3 Fossilized Lightning | Concentrated armor-component damage |
| X-Rounds penalties | 20% more horizontal and vertical recoil; 30% lower bullet velocity | Included in the node | A handling cost, not an optional modifier |
Skip X-Rounds if its handling causes enough misses to erase the stronger hits.

Bigger Mag: Capacity Is Not Damage
The increase from 22 to 37 rounds is approximately 68%, not double. If an enemy forces you behind cover before round 22, the extra capacity does not extend that attack window.
It still helps across several short peeks by postponing the reload.

X-Rounds: Accuracy Has Two Separate Costs
Semi-Auto reduces maximum shot dispersion, but X-Rounds separately increases recoil and lowers projectile velocity. We checked those modifiers against the accessible amplification breakdown; describing the finished build as simply more accurate ignores half the trade-off.
If your shots trail moving thrusters, adjust your lead or shorten the distance where safe. Firing faster will not correct the aim error.
Commit Materials Only After Choosing the Route
If amplification is unavailable, check workshop progression before farming node materials. The Amplified Weapons reference documents the requirements and confirms that activated amplifications cannot be removed or changed.
1. Reach Gunsmith Level 4 and Research Station Level 4.
2. Bring the Bettina to Level IV.
3. Obtain Amplification Module Mk. IV, matching its Epic rarity.
4. Upgrade to Level 5 and complete any required node research.
5. Activate Bigger Mag, or Semi-Auto followed by X-Rounds.
Testing both routes requires separate Bettinas.

We also checked the repair rules: Level 5 adds 70 maximum durability, and repairs require Amplified Fragments. That improves durability capacity, but it does not establish a guaranteed number of rounds per repair.
Budget repair materials before deploying an expensive amplified weapon.
Break Components Without Wasting Magazines
If you keep hitting the body while aiming at a thruster, change your angle before spending another magazine. Explosive rounds reward useful impacts; they do not make every impact equally useful.
Rocketeers and Vaporizers: Finish One Thruster
We compared the supplied Rocketeer accounts: one reports 15 hits, while another counts 12 shots on a previously damaged thruster. Those are not equivalent benchmarks.
Use the counts as evidence that a one-magazine break is possible—not guaranteed.
1. Clear nearby small ARC before attracting the larger target.
2. Find hard cover with a visible thruster angle.
3. Fire during a safe recovery window.
4. Keep attacking the same thruster after its armor breaks.
5. Reload behind cover.
A doorway is useful only if it preserves that angle. Standing beneath an elevated target can leave you sheltered but unable to hit the component.

For Vaporizers, separate thruster-break time from total kill time. In the supplied account we reviewed, a crash ended the fight after a thruster was destroyed; that result cannot prove superior weapon damage.
Shredders: One Spare Round Is Not Comfortable
One supplied encounter reports a 17-shot X-Rounds kill. With an 18-round magazine, that leaves only one spare shot if the result repeats.
Two additional required shots force a reload.
Keep cover available instead of committing to a guaranteed one-magazine kill.
Kinetic Converter: Measure Follow-Up Hits
One supplied comparison describes faster semi-auto firing with increased recoil. It does not establish better practical damage output.
Start without the converter. Add it only if faster follow-up shots remain on the same component; remove it when recoil costs more hits than the speed gains.
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Which amplified Bettina upgrade is best for PvE?
X-Rounds suits accurate component shooting; Bigger Mag suits sustained full-auto fire. We recommend choosing by whether you waste more ammunition through misses or lose more damage opportunities to reloads.
Can Bigger Mag and X-Rounds be combined?
No, the documented routes are mutually exclusive. X-Rounds requires Semi-Auto, and activated amplification choices are permanent.
What materials do the Bettina upgrades require?
Bigger Mag costs 3 Pressure Regulators; Semi-Auto costs 3 Pneumatic Actuators; X-Rounds costs 3 Fossilized Lightning. Reaching Level 5 separately requires an Amplification Module Mk. IV.
Can X-Rounds destroy a Rocketeer thruster in one magazine?
A one-magazine break is possible in the supplied accounts, but it is not a verified repeatable breakpoint. Prior damage, missed shots and hit placement prevent an exact fresh-target shot-count promise.
