↖ The Importance of Horses in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
The open world of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has two huge regions, and walking in either one is slow and dangerous is to say the least. Whether you're running away from enemies or trying to travel long distances, a strong horse can help you save time while also keeping you out of danger.
Horses are extremely important, and getting one as early into the game as possible is highly recommended. While there are some options available, they might not seem great at first. Pebbles, a mare from the previous game, is one such option. While her base stats might leave a lot to be desired, and are definitely not jaw dropping, Pebbles does have one secret skill that can make her one of the best companions in the game.
↖ Pebbles – This Horse is a True Hidden Beauty
As far as the gamers who indulged in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 know, Pebbles plays an important role in the latter parts of the game when players need to reconnect with Heinrich. Unfortunately, the opening scenes of the game throws Heinrich a little bit of a curveball by separating him from his devoted mare. Thankfully, most players don't have to put in too much effort when it comes to locating Pebbles in the early game stages.
Initially, Pebbles' stats are not going to be anything to write home about as players are going to find her stamina, speed and her carrying capacity quite low when compared to other horse options. Most players tend to start searching for other horse alternatives which is totally understandable. But those who are loyal to Pebbles and dedicate the time to foster a bond with her are in for a treat because she has secret skills that unlock her true potential.
↖ Unlocking Secret Skill of Pebbles
Unlocking skill Pebbles secret skill requires rather straightforward player mechanics that focus on the bond between Heinrich and his horse. This mechanic does not only deal with Pebbles, it also includes Heinrich's furry friend, Mutt. To strengthen his bond, players must spend time on the horse all over the medieval landscapes of Bohemia while fulfilling the compliments/ praise quota on Pebbles regularly.
Your relationship with Pebbles the horse has a bond level that once reached, unlocks the skill Good Old Pebbles. This skill improves Pebbles' stats tremendously at the cost of the skill's activation. Stamina improves from 139 to 222, carrying capacity improves from 158 to 358, and speed improves from 30 to 53. With these upgraded stats, Pebbles undeniably surpasses all other stat-wise options. Not only that, but her wonderful personality, her and Heinrich's bond makes her an even greater companion.
↖ Hering: Another Horse with Hidden Potential
Hering is another horse in the game, and also has the hidden potential skill. Players will encounter Hering during the main questline. Like Pebbles, Hering has a hidden ability that unlocks after building a bond over time. Hering's skill comes with a lot of vague details when it comes to the stat changes, as does most of his other skills, but all changes are undoubtably, making him one of the best horses to get.
The ideal horse to suit you is Pebbles, Hering, or other options available depending on your playstyle and preferences. That said, it is important to point out that Pebbles has been accompanying Heinrich since the very first game, which is a hard thing to ignore. Regardless of whether you lean more towards loyalty, or sheer numbers, you will definitely get a return on your investment while romping through Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 if you put in the effort with your horse.
Don't set aside the horse you have been using for many years. You might want to think twice as there is a chance that you do not know them as much as you think.
