MLB The Show 26 Best Outfielders Tier List: June Rankings for RF, CF, LF and DH

If your outfield is slow, you are giving away runs. That is the rule. In MLB The Show 26, a great bat with bad range belongs at DH, not in the grass. This June outfielder tier list ranks cards by what actually matters in ranked: swing, contact, power, speed, reaction, arm strength, quirks and difficulty scaling.

MLB The Show 26 Best Outfielders Tier List: June Rankings for RF, CF, LF and DH

MLB The Show 26 Outfielder Tier List: June Snapshot

Use this as the quick board before we go position by position.

TierCardsBest Role
S Tier Fernando Tatis Jr., Brandon Montgomery, Mookie Betts, Albert Pujols Premium starters
A Tier Kyle Tucker, George Springer, Mike Trout, John Singleton, Shawn Figgins, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Cole, Jose Ramirez, Cody Bellinger, Ken Griffey Jr., Ted Simmons Strong starters / matchup pieces
B Tier Roman Anthony, Byron Buxton, Adam Jones, Christian Yelich, Jim Rice Usable but replaceable
C Tier Paul O'Neill, Steve Finley, Ceddanne Rafaela, Willie McGee, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Daylen Lile, Jason Dominguez, Jarren Duran Budget or niche
DH Tier Lance Berkman, Nick Castellanos, Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Bryce Harper, Ted Williams, Miguel Cabrera, Yordan Alvarez, Billy Williams, Manny Ramirez, Joc Pederson, Michael Conforto, Babe Ruth, Brent Rooker, Jeremy Burnitz Bat-only cards

The board is simple: S Tier cards can start without excuses. A Tier cards are good but need context. DH Tier cards can hit, but their defense will cost you games.

Best Right Fielders in MLB The Show 26

Right field needs bat + arm + enough speed. You can hide a slower player here, but not a statue.

RankCardTierBest Use
1Fernando Tatis Jr. S Best RF for most players
2Brandon Montgomery S Best free RF value
3Mookie Betts S Elite bat, speed mod advised
4Kyle Tucker A Reliable lefty RF
5George Springer A Power bat, shaky defense
6Mike Trout A RF only, no longer ideal in CF
7John Singleton A Legend-friendly switch bat

Fernando Tatis Jr.: Best RF for Ranked

Tatis is the safest top-end right fielder on All-Star and Hall of Fame.

Why he plays:

  • Elite swing
  • High-end power
  • Strong quirks
  • Usable speed
  • Good enough defense

The only real issue is Legend righty-righty matchups. If you keep getting carved by away sliders from Nolan Ryan or deGrom-type arms, shift to Brandon Montgomery.

Brandon Montgomery: Best Free Outfielder

Montgomery is a gift for no-money-spent squads.

He gives you:

  • Big power
  • Strong arm
  • Playable defense
  • Premium RF value without spending stubs

His contact is not perfect for Legend, and the swing may not click for everyone. Still, for a free card, he is easily one of the best outfielders in MLB The Show 26.

Mookie Betts: S Tier Bat, Smaller Defensive Margin

Mookie hits. No debate.

The issue is the outfield fit. He is small, not blazing fast, and usually takes a secondary-position penalty. That means some gap shots will hurt.

Best mod setup:

CardRecommended ModReason
Mookie BettsContact + Speed Bigger PCI, better range

If you play him in RF, boost speed. If you leave him as-is, expect some defensive tax.

Kyle Tucker, Springer and Trout

These three are A Tier for different reasons.

CardWhy Use HimMain Flaw
Kyle Tucker Smooth swing, good reaction, good arm Average speed
George Springer Ball jumps off the bat, great swing Mediocre defense
Mike Trout Still strong offensively No longer a top defensive OF

Tucker is the most stable. Springer has the most underrated bat. Trout still plays, but keep him in right field, not center.

Best Center Fielders in MLB The Show 26

Center field is not negotiable. You need speed and reaction. A bad CF turns singles into doubles and doubles into rage quits.

RankCardTierBest Use
1Cole A Best balanced CF
2Shawn Figgins A Switch-hitting speed option
3Pete Crow-Armstrong A/B Defensive replacement or glove-first starter
4Byron Buxton B Speed-only option
5Adam Jones B Outdated but usable
6Steve Finley C Needs mods
7Ceddanne Rafaela C Budget CF
8Willie McGee C Defense-only option

Cole: Best Practical Center Fielder

Cole is the cleanest CF choice right now.

Strengths:

  • Switch hitter
  • Good speed
  • 99 arm strength
  • Power plays above attributes

Weakness:

Reaction is not elite

That matters. In center, late jumps get punished. Still, Cole gives enough offense and defense to start.

Best setup: keep him boosted if possible, or use a defensive/speed-leaning build.

Pete Crow-Armstrong: Elite Glove, Weak Bat

PCA catches everything. That part is real.

But the bat against lefties is rough. If you start him full-time, you need to accept dead at-bats versus left-handed pitching.

Best role:

  • Late-game defensive replacement
  • Bench speed
  • Starter only if you value defense over lineup depth

Shawn Figgins: Good Toolset, Risky Routes

Figgins has the profile we like: switch hitter, speed, contact, versatility.

But in-game, he can feel shaky in center. If you like his swing, he is A Tier. If not, he drops fast.

Byron Buxton: 99 Speed Is Not Enough

Buxton looks better than he plays.

Problems:

  • Low contact
  • Low vision
  • Reaction not good enough
  • Arm is not elite

On All-Star, you can make it work. On Hall of Fame and Legend, the bat becomes a problem.

Best Left Fielders in MLB The Show 26

Left field lets you cheat more offense, but not full DH defense. You still need enough speed to cover the line and gap.

RankCardTierBest Use
1Albert Pujols S Elite LF/RF bat
2Ken Griffey Jr. A/S Best swing, needs contact help
3Cody Bellinger A Best natural LF
4Jose Ramirez A Switch-hitting utility LF
5Ted Simmons A Switch bat, needs speed/power help
6Roman Anthony B Safe but bland
7Christian Yelich B Strong vs righties
8Jim Rice B Solid budget LF
9Daylen Lile C Speed/contact niche
10Jason Dominguez C All-Star switch bat
11Lourdes Gurriel Jr. C Underwhelming stats
12Jarren Duran C Speed, weak vs lefties

Albert Pujols: S Tier Bat Anywhere

Pujols is S Tier because the bat carries.

Use him in:

  • LF
  • RF
  • DH if your defense is stacked

If he plays outfield, give him speed. No debate. Without it, you will feel the range problem.

Ken Griffey Jr.: Still Nasty, But Aging

Griffey still has one of the best swings in the game.

The problem is contact. On All-Star, he can feel S Tier. On Hall of Fame, he needs support. On Legend, you better be comfortable with smaller PCI.

Best mod:

CardRecommended ModWhy
Ken Griffey Jr.Contact + Speed Keeps bat viable and improves OF range

If your timing is good, Griffey still rakes. If you are late often, move to a safer contact bat.

Cody Bellinger: Best True Left Fielder

Bellinger makes more sense in left than at first base.

Why:

  • Good swing
  • Usable defense
  • Enough power
  • Natural OF fit

If you want a clean primary LF without weird out-of-position penalties, Bellinger is your guy.

Jose Ramirez: Useful, Not Dominant

J-Ram is still good because he switch-hits. But the attributes are starting to feel dated.

He is fine everywhere, elite nowhere.

Use him if:

  • You love the swing
  • You need flexibility
  • You want switch hitting in LF

Replace him if you need more power or better outfield defense.

Best DH Options from Outfielder Cards

This is where many bad outfielders become valuable again.

RankCardBest RoleWhy
1Lance Berkman Full-time DH Switch hitter, contact, clutch
2Bryce Harper Platoon DH vs RHP Destroys righties
3Yordan Alvarez Full-time DH Stronger full-time lefty bat
4Juan Soto Full-time DH Great swing, patient bat
5Nick Castellanos Platoon DH vs LHP Crushes lefties
6Aaron Judge Power DH Huge upside, vision risk
7Joc Pederson Platoon DH vs RHP Pure righty killer
8Ted Williams Contact DH Better on Legend
9Manny Ramirez Righty DH Still usable, dated
10Miguel Cabrera DH only Never play him in OF

Best DH Strategy

The cleanest DH setup is Berkman full-time.

The highest-damage setup is a platoon:

Vs RHPVs LHP
Bryce HarperNick Castellanos
Joc PedersonAaron Judge
Yordan AlvarezManny Ramirez

If you play on Legend, value contact and vision more. Berkman and Ted Williams gain value there.

Best Outfield Builds by Difficulty

Your best outfield depends on difficulty. Do not build an All-Star lineup and expect it to survive on Legend.

Best All-Star Outfield

PositionPick
LFPujols / Griffey
CFCole / Figgins
RFTatis
DHHarper / Berkman

On All-Star, swing and power win. Lower contact is easier to survive.

Best Hall of Fame Outfield

PositionPick
LFBellinger / Contact-modded Griffey
CFCole
RFTatis / Montgomery
DHBerkman / Harper platoon

Hall of Fame punishes low contact more often. Start balancing power with PCI size.

Best Legend Outfield

PositionPick
LFBellinger / J-Ram / Contact Griffey
CFCole
RFMontgomery / Tatis if you handle R-R
DHBerkman / Ted Williams / high-contact platoon

On Legend, stop chasing only power. Contact, vision and swing comfort matter more.

Best Attribute Mods for Outfielders

Mods fix roster holes. Use them with intent.

ProblemBest ModResult
Slow corner OFSpeed + Contact Better range, bigger PCI
Low-contact sluggerContact + Vision More usable on HOF/Legend
Good bat, bad gloveSpeed + Fielding Fewer defensive disasters
Contact hitter, low popPower + Speed More damage without losing range
Small OF modelContact + Speed Better hitting and coverage

If your outfielder keeps missing gap balls, boost speed.

If you keep striking out, boost contact.

If both are happening, replace the card.

Cards to Keep Out of the Outfield

These cards can hit. That does not mean they should field.

CardIssueUse Instead
Miguel Cabrera Terrible OF fit DH
Ted Williams Bad defense DH
Nick Castellanos Poor range Platoon DH
Juan Soto Not enough defense DH
Bryce Harper Better bat than glove DH
Joc Pederson Cannot face lefties Platoon DH
Jeremy Burnitz Replaceable Budget DH
Brent Rooker Limited value Temporary DH

Rule: if a card is slow + bad reaction + no elite defensive traits, do not put him in the outfield.

FAQ

Who is the best outfielder in MLB The Show 26?

Fernando Tatis Jr. is the best outfielder for most players. He has the best mix of swing, power, quirks and playable defense. On Legend, Brandon Montgomery can be safer.

Who is the best free outfielder in MLB The Show 26?

Brandon Montgomery is the best free outfielder value. He gives you power, arm strength and usable defense without spending stubs.

Should Bryce Harper play outfield or DH?

Use Bryce Harper at DH. He crushes right-handed pitching, but his defense is not worth the risk in competitive games.

Is Ken Griffey Jr. still worth using?

Yes, but use a Contact + Speed mod. Griffey still has an elite swing, but his contact is starting to age on Hall of Fame and Legend.

Who is the best center fielder in MLB The Show 26?

Cole is the best practical center fielder. He switch-hits, has good speed and brings a strong arm. Pete Crow-Armstrong is better defensively, but much weaker at the plate.

Summary

The best MLB The Show 26 outfield right now is built around Tatis, Montgomery, Cole, Pujols, Griffey and Bellinger.

Keep slow mashers at DH. That means Berkman, Harper, Soto, Yordan, Judge, Castellanos, Ted Williams and Joc should not be forced into the field unless your roster is thin.

Best competitive setup:

PositionRecommended Pick
LFPujols / Griffey / Bellinger
CFCole
RFTatis / Montgomery
DHBerkman / Harper platoon

Build for your difficulty. On All-Star, power carries. On Hall of Fame, contact matters. On Legend, PCI size, swing comfort and defense decide games.
