Monster Hunter Wilds: Highlights from the Street Fighter 6 Collaboration

A hallmark feature of the Monster Hunter series is collaboration content, which oftentimes excites its devoted player audience. A recent trailer has shown that Monster Hunter Wilds will also be following this trend with their first collaboration. This collaboration features exclusive content based on Street Fighter 6, and is set to release on May 28, 2025. The best part? There are no time restrictions, which means players can enjoy the content forever!

Street Fighter 6 Meets Monster Hunter Wilds

Starting May 28, players can enjoy branded quests, items and other features that integrate the core gameplay of Street Fighter into the Monster Hunter universe. In addition to monetized armor sets and Character skins, the collaboration adds a fresh combat system that lets hunters challenge monsters hand-to-hand with fighter style moves.

New Features Alongside Select Rewards

As expected from the cross-over, the collaboration lets players engage in a myriad of activities. While players can customize their experience however they choose, it is suggested they reach Hunter Rank 21 so they can complete an exclusive side quest called Ultimate Power. During this quest, players transform into one of the most powerful characters in Street Fighter 6, Akuma. In order to accept this quest, users must talk to Quinn in Oil Spring Basin.

Demonic Power and True Strength arena quests offer additional rewards where players can unlock an entire Akuma-themed armor set. Not only does this transform your hunter into Akuma, it also changes how you play the game. Other rewards include a Blanka-Chan inspired Palico armor, exclusive hunter profile decorations, and more.

Akuma Armor Set: A Game Changing Feature

What makes the Akuma armor stand out is that it grants players the ability to take on monsters with no traditional weaponry! After putting on the entire set, players unlock the ability to wield Akuma's iconic items and perform his emotes which lets them fight using his martial arts in the brawls.

This includes the implementation of Monster Hunter Wilds featuring Street Fighter 6's Drive Impact. Players can select Sakuras combat style from their item bars and perform Auto Combo: Akuma, launching themselves into a sequence of devastating moves and powerful combos. The attack dealt incorporates the stats of your primary weapon while the armor set dramatically increases attack power.

These automatic bursts of strike and motion come with stun effects as well, allowing hunters to disable monsters. They are capable of dynamically brutal, stunning, and visually eliminate monsters and the exclusive counterattack animations make slaying pose more savage.

Emotes with Combat Functionality

The collaboration includes new emotes based on Street Fighter moves like Hadoken and Shoryuken which inflict damage to monsters during hunts. The addition of these emotes does spice up the game but their usefulness is still overshadowed by more standard hunting methods. There is some speculation among players about whether a full emote-only hunt would work, and if so, it would definitely be an interesting challenge.

The addition of emotes that can be used to fight has been applauded for bringing a new level of creativity into hunts, but the emotes' limitations offer room for growth. Some players are excited to see if these emotes can be used to complete hunts, adding a level of difficulty and creativity to the game.

Blanka Toy for Palico

One of the lighter toys that came with this collaboration is Blanka inspired Palico toy. This update adds a certain level of humor and whimsy due to the reference to the Blank's electrifying moves.

Cammy Handler Outfit

From the collaboration, the handler also received a new layered outfit based on Cammy from Street Fighter 6. Although this expands the range of apparel available to NPCs, it sparked debate among the community with some wishing there were more hunter-themed clothes.

Monetary Add-Ons

Players that want to go the extra mile can purchase paid DLCs that go along with the collaboration. Two Alma skins, themed gestures, stickers, and a unique weapon charm are included in the premium DLC bundle. For players that want to customize their hunting further, add-ons for the mounts are also available.

Additional Content

Other additions also include Akuma's fireball emote, which has been turned into slinger attachments, stickers, and pendants. These additions further character customization for players and allow them to personalize their gear even more.

Outro

For the fans of either of the two franchises, the collaboration of Monster Hunter Wilds and Street Fighter 6 looks to provide a new and thrilling experience. The crossover looks to have new quests, innovative combat mechanics, and loads of things to unlock making this one of the most notable additions to the game. If you are a seasoned hunter or a street fighter fan, May 28, 2025 will mark another great chapter into monster hunter wilds.

Outside of the collaboration, Capcom has also announced other updates coming out on the 28th of May. These include balance changes to various weapons, responding to the underperforming and overpowered gear and adjusting them as necessary. Moreover, tempered monsters will be added as eight-star quests for advanced hunters to tackle. While the information around Title Update 2 is still a mystery, there is hope for more news after the May update.
