MH Wilds Artian Weapons Guide: Materials, Craft and Upgrades

It is no longer a challenge to defeat monsters in MH Wilds, because you have some of the most powerful weapons - Artian Weapons. In terms of flexibility, power and adaptability, they stand out. They come with high attack stats, elemental power, superb decoration slots, and customization options making them optimal for the end game.

However, to craft Artian weapon, you need to possess tempered monsters and have a deep knowledge of the system. This guide will walk you through how to efficiently farm your materials, craft your weapons, and select the most favorable upgrades tailored to your style of play.

Artian Weapons: How To Craft?

Each type of relic corresponds to specific weapon types and in particular, each cosplay mannerism has its own weapon. So make sure to plan your farming well in order to have all the weapons you intend to craft.

Step 1. Unlocking Artian Weapons

  • Complete all Low-Rank Quests: Try to complete all of the easy quests first.
  • Continue Advancing through High-Rank Quests: Work your way to completing high-rank quests.
  • Hunter Rank Requirements: When you reach approximately Hunter Rank 21 there will be tempered monsters that spawn. These monsters will give you the required materials to make the Artian Weapons.

Step 2. Farming Materials

The appraisal items necessary for the Artian Weapons are drops from tempered monsters. The tempered monsters have three tiers of rarity:

Material Source Hunter Rank Requirement Rarity
Damaged Weapon Shard Tempered Gib Aros Hunter Rank 21+ Rarity 5
Rusted Weapon Shard Tempered Gravios Hunter Rank 31+ Rarity 6
Ancient Weapon Fragment Tempered Arc Felt Hunter Rank 41+ Rarity 7

Valuable Material

How to Farm Materials?

  1. Find tempered monsters on the world map.
  2. See if they have any appraisal items as loot (e.g., Damaged Weapon Shards).
  3. Participate in quests or investigations surrounding the monsters to collect the shards.

  3. Select the type of weapon that you want based on the collection relics that you have.

Reinforcements & Upgrades

Crafted and reinforced properly, Artian Weapons offer a level of performance and customization unequaled anywhere else. By selecting weapon parts, aligning elements, selecting optimizations, and reinforcing, you can achieve a weapon that not only fits your hunting needs but is also perfect for your unique playstyle.

Artian Materials Box Overview

Crafting Artian Weapons

1. Part Selection and Rarities

Each weapon requires specific components for them to be crafted, Parts come in different rarities (e.g., Rarity 6, 7, 8). All parts must be matched into the same rarity. For instance, if you use a Rarity 8 part, all other selected parts must also be Rarity 8.

Weapon Type Required Parts
Great Sword 2 Blades + 1 Tube
Sword & Shield 1 Blade + 1 Tube + 1 Disc
Insect Glaive 2 Tubes + 1 Blade

2. Elemental Types and Infusions

Parts come with elemental types or ailments( e.g., Fire, Water, Paralysis). All selected parts must share the same type element in order to activate it on your weapon. Mixing elements or ailments does not grant additional value.

3. Infusions

Each part includes an infusion, you can choose infusions based on your build and play style.

  • Attack Infusion: Adds raw attack power.
  • Affinity Infusion: Increases critical hit chance (Affinity).

4. Rarity and Decoration Slots

Better stats and more decorations is available on higher rarity weapons, for example Rarity 8:

  • Rarity 8: Three Level 3 slots.
  • Rarity 7: Three 2 slots.
  • Rarity 6: Three 2 slots (lower stats).

Reinforcing Artian Weapons

Reinforcement allows for the improving of Artian Weapons once crafted.

1. Reinforcement Materials

Most valuable material of Oricite is required to reinforce specific ores. To reach maximum reinforcement, you will need 50 Oricite.

2. Reinforcement Bonuses

Bonuses will be earned through supplements achieved after hitting reinforcement milestones.

Bonuses Available Are:

  • Sharpness Boost: Adds 30 units of sharpness.
  • Attack Boost: Increases raw attack by 5.
  • Affinity Boost: Increases Affinity (critical chance) by 5.
  • Elemental Boost: Adds 30 to elemental damage or ailment.

Bonus Type Effect
Sharpness Boost Adds durability to weapon sharpness
Attack Boost Increases raw damage output
Affinity Boost Improves critical hit chance
Elemental Boost Enhances elemental damage or ailment

3. Optimizing Reinforcements

Prioritize at least one Sharpness Boost for durability and damage consistency.

Combine bonuses based on your build:

  • High-damage builds: Focus on Attack and Elemental Boosts.
  • Critical builds: Focus on Affinity Boosts.

Strategies

  • Tip 1. Consistency in Elemental Builds - Always equip parts with the same element or ailment type to make the most out of their impact on your weapon.
  • Tip 2. Decoration Slot Utilization Place Rarity 8 weapons' highly sought after decoration slots if it will grant upper tier Critical Boost, Weakness Exploit, or Handicraft.
  • Tip 3. Sharpness Management - A white sharpness is game's strongest damage multiplier, thus you should guarantee your weapon maintains white sharpness using Razor Sharp with its other skills.
  • Tip 4. Rerolling Reinforcement Bonuses - If you do not like the bonuses given, add extra materials to change them until you like the combination of boosts provided.

Artian Weapon: How to Re-Roll Upgrades?

Re-rolling the upgrades for the Artian Weapon is simple with the dismantling system and the Elder Melder craft options. By retrieving reinforcement material and farm well, you can optimize weapons without any resource wastage.

Reinforce/Dismantle Artian Weapons

1. The Dismantling Process

Dismantling an Artian Weapon allows you to recover the materials used for reinforcement, enabling you to re-roll its upgrades.

  • Recovered Materials:  You will receive all the materials used to reinforce the weapon (e.g., Oralite).  You will also gain one additional material, such as an Archer Site, based on the weapon's rarity.
  • Non-Recovered Materials:  Materials used to craft the weapon itself (e.g., base parts) will not be returned.

Example:

If you used 50 Oralite to reinforce a weapon and dismantle it, you'll get all 50 Oralite back, plus an Archer Site (or equivalent material depending on rarity).

2. Steps to Dismantle a Weapon

  1. Navigate to Su the Peaks of Accord.
  2. Speak with the Elder Melder NPC.
  3. Select the Dismantle Option from the menu.
  4. Choose the weapon you wish to dismantle.
  5. Confirm the process to retrieve your materials.

3. Creating New Parts With Elder Melder

The Elder Melder also gives you the option to craft specific parts using furth material or other obtainable resources:

  • Meld Relics must be selected from the Elder Melder section.
  • Pick the type of part you wish to create (blades or handles for example).
  • Combine into a lower rarity part or use W Varian Blood Stone Shards to create higher level parts.

Resource Notes:

W Varian Blood Stone Shards: Acquiring these from Tier 3 monsters grant you the ability to craft multiple fragments efficiently. One shard can yield three East Varian fragment shards.

4. Suggested Tactics for Material Farming

Target Tier 3 Monsters, as fighting them gives you pesky items such as: W Verian Bloodstone Large and W Varian Bloodstone Trunk. Go to Elder Melder often to exchange item surplus for select fragments or parts. Example show one purchased W Verian Bloodstone Trunk, can give you 42 of these fragments.

Note: Do not forget to visit Su the Peaks of Accord regularly and strategize your farming for optimal resource gathering.

Artian Weapons: How To Efficiently Farm?

As in all other games, farming Artian Weapons requires an efficient allocation of resources and strategies. Targeting Tier 3 monsters and using investigations with secondary monsters and time mechanics allows for quick farming of materials needed for crafting the Rarity 8 Artian Weapons.

Join Quests Overview

1. Know the Tier of Monsters and Their Hunter Rank Requirements

The tempered monsters are categorized into three tiers. Each has a corresponding Hunter Rank needed to unlock its investigations.

Monster Tier Examples Hunter Rank Required
Tier 1  Chatak Cabra, Chemris HR 21+
Tier 2  Rathalos, Rathian, Daguma HR 31+
Tier 3 Arcv, Raow, Apex Monsters HR 41+

Tier 3 Monsters are the Focus: These monsters have the required materials needed to be crafted into Rarity 8 Artian Weapons.

2. Go For Investigations With Secondary Monsters

Some investigations are accompanied by a second monster making them extremely analytically valued due to the extra rewards they provide.

Q: Why Secondary Monsters Matter?

A: Additional secondary monsters allow for farms as high as 20 materials per quest per monster.

Q: How to Save Investigations?

A: Scan the map in search of Tier 3 monsters alongside secondary monsters. They can be saved by talking to Alma allowing for three repeats.

3. Use Time Passage Mechanics to Refresh Investigations

In case there are no fitting investigations, try passing time in the game. This should refresh the entire investigation list.

Steps to Refresh Investigations:

  1. Tent It: Change the time of the day in the tent (day to night, etc). This costs 300 worth resource points which can easily be regained during gameplay.
  2. Look Out For New Investigations: After passing time, check the map for tier 3 investigations with secondary monsters. If there are none available repeat this process until a fitting investigation is discovered.
  3. Watching Monster Forecasts: To see the list of monsters set to appear, press the right bumper button on the map. This will allow you to see a weather forecast of what monsters will spawn if they are waited upon.

Note: Each time you pass time, the monster table resets entirely, offering a new set of available investigations. Use this mechanic strategically to farm efficiently.

4. Maximize Rewards

Always prioritize investigations featuring Tier 3 monsters with secondary monsters for maximum rewards. Aim to complete these investigations multiple times by saving them with Alma.

Artian Weapons: How to Farm Oricalcite?

Hunt Tier 3 monsters like Gore Magala and Apex Monsters to stockpile high level materials. Always trade materials with higher point values to save time and effort.

1. Location: The Smelting Foundry

To start farming Oricalcite, go to the Oil Well Basin, specifically to the Ever Forge. Open your map and search for the Smelting Foundry. Ro'Cool, the NPC managing the Smelting Foundry, can be interacted with. The Smelting Foundry allows you to smelt various materials, including Oricalcite.

2. Smelting Oricalcite

Once you're at the Smelting Foundry:

  • Access the Smelting Menu: Speak to Ro'Cool so that you can see the options for smelting materials.
  • Select Oricalcite: Pick Oricalcite from available list of ores.
  • Trade Monster Materials: Acquire Oricalcite by using monster materials to procure it. Every material contributed has point value which helps toward obtaining Oricalcite.

3. Efficient Material Farming

For farming Oricalcite, target high tier monsters that offer materials with point values that are beneficial to your score.

Note: Gore Magala materials are particularly noteworthy as its gems can yield close to 800 points. One Gore Magala Gem can nearly yield three Oricalcite alone.

4. Automatic Smelting Option

For bulk orders, consider using the Automatic Smelting Option as a time saving feature. It is best to use Oricalcite while smelting other ores because of its prominence in crafting and upgrading Artian Weapons.

5. Crafting Artian Weapons

After collecting enough Oricalcite to max out an Artian Weapon, which requires 50 units, proceed to craft and upgrade your chosen weapon. This ensures all reinforcement stats are favorable to your preference and tailored to your gameplay.

The Artian Weapons are among the most powerful and customizable in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, serving as the pinnacle of achievements. Knowing how to efficiently craft, upgrade, and farm these weapons will help you dominate even the hardest hunts. Use this guide to customize your weapon arsenal to match your preferred playstyle.
