Old Priest logic is dead. Spam Heal, slap on Holy Symbol, print EXP for the whole party. That game is over.

Heal barely damages undead now. Holy Symbol gives zero EXP. Bless lost its defense stats. What's left is a class that still has tools, but you have to relearn how to use them. Here's the breakdown.

↖ What Actually Changed
| Old Identity | Current Identity |
|---|---|
| Holy Symbol = EXP machine | Holy Symbol = weak revive effect |
| Heal-farm undead maps | Holy Arrow is your main damage |
| Mandatory party support | Optional utility support |
| Low damage, high support = fine | Low-to-mid damage, low support = a problem |
Bottom line: support got gutted, damage didn't get buffed enough to cover it.
↖ First Job: MP Is Your Lifeline
Magic Guard is now a toggle. No more panic when it expires mid-fight. This alone makes early Mage life better.
- MP Increase > MP Recovery. Bigger MP pool = bigger safety buffer with Magic Guard up.
- MP Recovery saves potions, fine for casual play, but skip it if you're progressing seriously.
If you're eating random hits and folding fast, check Magic Guard is on first. That's 90% of why am I dying moments.
↖ Second Job Cleric: Heal Is Dead Weight, Holy Arrow Carries
↖ Heal: Support Only, Not Damage
Heal still hits undead. It's just too weak to grind with. Old Zombie/Wraith farming routes don't work anymore.
Use Heal for:
- Party HP sustain
- Emergency saves
- Nothing else
↖ Bless Got Downgraded
Current effects: accuracy, evasion, +10% Heal recovery at max. No more weapon/magic defense.
It's a nice-to-have now, not a we need a Cleric buff.
↖ Invincible Is Actually Good Now
~30% physical damage reduction + retaliation damage on contact. Makes touch-heavy maps way less punishing. Not a tank button, but a real safety net.
↖ Holy Arrow = Your New Main Attack
Fires 3 arrows, flexible targeting:
- 3 hits on one target
- 1 hit each on 3 targets
- 2 hits on one target + 1 spillover hit
This is the skill your build revolves around now. Stop thinking Heal farm. Start thinking Holy Arrow grind with Heal as backup.
↖ Third Job Priest: Utility Stayed, Power Didn't Scale
| Skill | Change | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Elemental Resistance | -10% resistance | Situational, not a dealbreaker |
| Dispel | Cures poison/blind/weakness/curse | Good, underused with limited boss content |
| Mystic Door | Same, costs Magic Rock | Still genuinely useful |
| Shining Ray | 130 ATK (up from 105), hits 4 targets | Better mobbing, still not a real solution |
| Doom | Turns mobs into snails | Fun, niche, not efficient |
| Summon Dragon | 100 ATK, 300s duration (down from 150 ATK) | Longer uptime, weaker hits |
Holy Arrow beats single targets. Shining Ray handles small packs. Use both depending on the pull.
↖ Holy Symbol: The Real Problem
Old version: bonus party EXP. Extremely broken, enabled mule parking, made Priest mandatory.
New version: 30-min buff, revives you with 35% HP on death — but you still lose EXP.
The nerf made sense. The replacement doesn't. A death-save that still costs you EXP isn't strong enough to be a signature third-job skill. It needs teeth: reduced EXP loss, party-wide protection, or a recovery aura. Right now it's just... there.
↖ Skill Build Priority
↖ First Job
1. Magic Guard
2. MP Increase
3. Main attack
4. MP Recovery
↖ Second Job
1. Holy Arrow
2. Heal
3. Invincible
4. Bless
↖ Third Job
1. Shining Ray
2. Mystic Door
3. Dispel
4. Summon Dragon (if rocks are cheap)
5. Elemental Resistance
6. Holy Symbol
7. Doom
↖ How to Actually Grind
Stop hunting old Cleric maps. Test kill speed directly:
1. Grind a map for 10 minutes
2. Track EXP + potion cost
3. Compare against another map
4. Pick the winner
Map-by-map rotation logic:
| Situation | Action |
|---|---|
| Single strong target | Holy Arrow |
| 2-4 grouped mobs | Shining Ray |
| Party taking damage | Heal |
| Long session | Mystic Door for supply runs |
| Status effects flying | Dispel ready |
| Contact-heavy map | Invincible + Magic Guard on |
Watch your rock economy. Mystic Door and Dragon both eat consumables. If Magic Rocks or Summoning Rocks get expensive, cut Dragon uptime first — it's the least essential.
↖ When Priest Is Actually Worth Bringing
Good reasons:
- Potion savings via Heal
- Long grind sessions (Mystic Door)
- Status-heavy content (Dispel)
- Undergeared/casual parties needing stability
Bad reasons:
- Expecting EXP boosts (gone)
- Expecting top-tier damage (not happening)
- Expecting Heal to clear mobs (it won't)
Priest's value scales with content difficulty, not EXP-per-hour meta. Simple farm parties barely need you. Dangerous, long-grind content is where you shine.
↖ FAQ
↖ Is Heal still good for grinding?
No. It damages undead, but too weakly to be your main skill. Use it for sustain only.
↖ What's the main Cleric attack now?
Holy Arrow. Three-arrow spread, flexible targeting, far stronger than old Holy Arrow ever was.
↖ Is Holy Symbol still worth maxing?
Not really, unless your party specifically values the death-save. It doesn't give EXP anymore and the revive effect still costs you EXP on death.
↖ Is Shining Ray better than Holy Arrow?
Depends on the pull. Holy Arrow wins single-target. Shining Ray wins on 2-4 grouped mobs. Run both.
↖ Is Priest good for bossing?
Unproven right now — current boss content is thin. Heal, Dispel, and Mystic Door could matter a lot more once harder encounters show up.
↖ Bottom Line
Priest lost its old EXP-machine identity and hasn't fully found a new one. Build around Holy Arrow for damage, Heal for sustain, and Mystic Door/Dispel for situational utility. Test your maps instead of relying on nostalgia, and watch your rock costs.
If you love active support and steady, safe grinding, Priest still delivers. If you're chasing the old Holy Symbol EXP meta, that class doesn't exist anymore — this is a different beast wearing the same robe.
