Star Citizen Exploration Guide: Weird Locations You Should Visit Before They Change

Star Citizen's exploration gameplay is still thin. No real discovery economy. No deep scanning loop. But the game already has something worth chasing: places with scale, history, and personality.

Some landmarks are already gone. Port Olisar disappeared. Old terrain features changed. Event locations get removed, rebuilt, or forgotten.

That means one thing: visit the good stuff while it still exists.

Star Citizen Exploration Guide: Weird Locations You Should Visit Before They Change

Whistler's Crypt Stanton / Daymar Loot, cave exploration Hard

If you only have one night, hit Ghost Hollow, Siege of Orison, and Benny Henge. That gives you wrecks, history, scale, and weirdness fast.

Why These Star Citizen Locations Matter

The verse changes every major patch.

Terrain gets cleaned up. Stations get replaced. Event sites go dormant. Hidden areas get patched. With Genesis terrain tech expected to reshape planetary surfaces, some landmarks may not survive in their current form.

So the play is simple:

  • Visit now
  • Screenshot everything
  • Bring friends
  • Use these spots for races, FPS nights, and org events

This is not a money route. It is a player-memory route.

Pyro Exploration Locations

Pyro has the best harsh-terrain sightseeing in the game. It also has the highest chance of someone ruining your peaceful screenshot session.

Bring a fast ship. Do not loiter.

Fuego's Rib Cage

RouteDetails
SystemPyro
Area Around Fuego / Pyro 5
Navigation Set course to OM1, descend toward the moon marker
Best For Low flying, canyon runs
Risk Terrain collision

This is one of Pyro's strangest terrain features.

As you descend toward the marker, ping the surface. You'll see tight repeating ridges with deep cuts between them. It looks like a rib cage carved into the ground.

Use a small, responsive ship. Fly low only if you know your handling. The terrain comes up fast.

Result: one of the best natural canyon-run zones in Star Citizen.

Golden Riviera on Bloom

RouteDetails
SystemPyro
BodyBloom
Location Golden Riviera outpost and nearby mountains
Best For Sunsets, screenshots
Gameplay Light loot, shady outpost atmosphere

The outpost is dirty, hostile, and not the point.

The mountains nearby are the reason to go. At the right time of day, the light turns the whole area gold. Storms roll across the horizon. Your ship cools behind you. The game finally shuts up.

Land above the outpost for the best angle.

Result: one of Pyro's strongest scenic screenshot spots.

Pyro 4 Impact Crater

RouteDetails
SystemPyro
BodyPyro 4
Location North pole
Best For Scale, geology, screenshots
NearbyFallow's Field

Pyro 4's north pole has a massive impact scar. Not just a crater. You can see ripple-like crust formations around it.

That detail matters. It tells the story without a quest marker: a planetary body hit hard enough to change orbit.

This is the best geological landmark in Star Citizen right now.

Result: pure scale. Bring a camera-friendly ship and daylight.

Stanton Exploration Locations

Stanton has more history. Some spots are old event sites. Some are hidden jokes. Some are just perfect places to get your org killed in a funny way.

Siege of Orison Platforms

RouteDetails
SystemStanton
PlanetCrusader
StartOrison
Navigation Fly heading 110
Best For PvP, looting, races, FPS events

The old Siege of Orison platforms are still there.

You get:

  • Large floating platforms
  • Wrecks
  • Long sightlines
  • Sniper angles
  • Buggies
  • A boxing ring
  • Strong FPS event layout

No active event needed. Bring players and make your own chaos.

Result: one of the best abandoned combat arenas in the game.

Great Wall of Aberdeen

RouteDetails
SystemStanton
MoonAberdeen
Navigation Go to OM1, descend toward marker
Best For Ground wars, vehicle events
Difficulty Medium

This terrain used to look more broken. Now it looks more intentional, but the core feature remains: a massive wall and steep valley.

It is not a loot spot. It is a terrain playground.

Use it for:

  • Ground battles
  • Vehicle charges
  • Knife-only stupidity
  • Screenshot lines

Result: a natural ground-war arena.

Sketto Rock on Magda

RouteDetails
SystemStanton
MoonMagda
StartOM6
Navigation Face OM1, aim for the blue terrain patch
Best For Mountain races, screenshots

Sketto Rock is a large overhanging boulder with a clean overlook.

The place itself is simple. The use case is not.

Start races here. Launch vehicles downhill. Watch confidence become insurance claims.

Result: excellent for low-effort player-made events.

Ghost Hollow

RouteDetails
SystemStanton
PlanetmicroTech
Landmark Crashed Reclaimer
Best For FPS, PvP, exploration
Difficulty Easy

Ghost Hollow is still one of the best-designed locations in Star Citizen.

It has a crashed Reclaimer split through forest terrain, with vegetation growing over the wreck. The old money-terminal loop has been inconsistent, but the location still works.

Why it is good:

  • Strong cover
  • Interior and exterior routes
  • Natural verticality
  • Creepy atmosphere
  • Great attack-and-defend layout

Result: top-tier org event site.

Christmas Cave on microTech

RouteDetails
SystemStanton
PlanetmicroTech
Navigation Follow tram lines under the large hotel area
Best For Seasonal screenshots
Difficulty Easy

Small festive cave. Trees, presents, fire, snow geysers.

With friends, it is cozy. Alone, it feels cursed.

Result: quick stop, good screenshot, weird vibe.

Hidden Star Citizen Easter Eggs

These are not efficient. They are memorable.

Pico Pub

RouteDetails
LocationRAB Stations
Access Fan wall glitch
Best For Secret room
Difficulty Hard

At RAB stations, use the fan area to glitch into the wall space. Move through zero-g toward the lit door. Break back through into Pico Pub.

Inside:

  • Penguin bartenders
  • Pool table
  • Hidden bar props
  • Functional elevator exit

Patch risk is high. If it stops working, it was probably fixed.

Result: the best hidden joke room in the game.

Voyager Bar Crunchy in Orison

RouteDetails
PlanetCrusader
CityOrison
LocationVoyager Bar
Best For Tiny Easter egg

Go up the elevator in Voyager Bar. Check behind the small staircase area.

There is a tiny tortoise setup players call Crunchy.

It does nothing. It still matters.

Result: small detail, big charm.

Grim HEX Secrets

RouteDetails
SystemStanton
AreaYela orbit
LocationGrim HEX
Best For Lore, hidden details

Grim HEX has more character than most stations.

Look for:

  • Data pads
  • Old lore references
  • Hidden hab details
  • Vending machine story threads
  • Race-viewing areas
  • Developer Easter eggs

One data pad connects to A Gift for Baba, the lore behind Daymar, Cellin, and Yela.

Result: dirty station, excellent personality.

Benny Henge

RouteDetails
SystemStanton
AreaYela asteroid belt
StartNakamura Aid Shelter
Difficulty Hard
Best For Classic pilgrimage

Benny Henge is a ring of stolen noodle machines on an asteroid, with the dead artist in the middle.

Navigation reference:

TargetDistance
Yela641 km
Grim HEX254.8 km
Yela again641 km

Start from Nakamura Aid Shelter. Face Yela's rings with Grim HEX on your right. Fly toward the asteroid cluster near OM6, then use the distances above.

Result: mandatory Star Citizen pilgrimage. Useless, iconic, perfect.

Loot and Event Locations Worth Visiting

These spots have more practical value. Not always efficient, but useful if you know what to check.

Checkmate Station Hidden Shop

RouteDetails
SystemPyro
LocationCheckmate Station
BringFuses
Best For Loot, shop, alternate routes

Checkmate has useful hidden routes in its contested zones. Some exterior doors can bypass obvious choke points.

There is also a hidden HAB section with a working shop.

Possible supplies:

  • PA SMG
  • Ammo
  • Rockets
  • Med pens
  • Food and drinks
  • Telescopic sights
  • Arrowhead
  • Orange loot boxes behind fuse doors

Result: good Pyro knowledge. Useful when full looting or PvP traffic is active.

Daymar Javelin Wreck

RouteDetails
SystemStanton
MoonDaymar
StartOM3
NearbyNT-999-XVI / Security Post Moluto
Best For Scale, screenshots, ground events

This is a crashed capital ship wreck tied to the UEES Flyssa incident.

From OM3, search between NT-999-XVI and Security Post Moluto. Look for rough terrain where dark and light ground meet. Aim for the valley between two large mountains.

Go during daylight. Night search is miserable.

Result: one of the best capital-ship scale references in-game.

Cutter's Rig

RouteDetails
PlanetHurston
NearWeeping Cove
Best For Loot, screenshots
Difficulty Easy

Cutter's Rig sits on the water with a rough industrial look and a big flame jet.

It can have loot boxes. More importantly, it looks like a proper faction-war objective.

Result: strong visual identity. Good stop for screenshots or small group fights.

Whistler's Crypt

RouteDetails
MoonDaymar
StartThe Garden
TargetNT-999-XVI
Distance Cue Around 150 km
Landmark Crashed 600i cave base
FactionNine Tails

Whistler's Crypt is one of Stanton's best hidden locations.

Route:

1. Go to Daymar → The Garden.

2. Target NT-999-XVI.

3. At about 150 km, cut ship power.

4. Look for a large fish-shaped terrain formation.

5. Find the middle mountain range along the lower fin.

6. Aim for the rightmost tall peak.

7. Look for the crashed 600i.

Inside, you get a cave base, wreckage, Nine Tails presence, and possible loot.

Avoid unstable nearby wreck geometry. Some spots can send you straight into the planet.

Result: great atmosphere, good loot checks, strong FPS potential.

FAQ

What is the best Star Citizen exploration location for new players?

Ghost Hollow is the best first stop. It is easy to reach, visually strong, and useful for FPS practice, screenshots, and org events. Siege of Orison is another easy recommendation.

What is the hardest hidden location to find in Star Citizen?

Benny Henge and Whistler's Crypt are the hardest. Both require manual navigation, distance checks, and terrain reading. Reset from the start point if you lose your reference.

Are these Star Citizen locations good for making money?

Mostly no. This is not a credit farm. For loot, check Checkmate Station, Cutter's Rig, and Whistler's Crypt. Most other locations are better for exploration, events, and screenshots.

Can these locations disappear in future updates?

Yes. Star Citizen locations can change with terrain updates, performance passes, event reworks, or city expansions. Genesis terrain tech may reshape some planetary landmarks.

What are the best locations for org events?

Use Ghost Hollow, Siege of Orison Platforms, and Whistler's Crypt for FPS events. Use Great Wall of Aberdeen, Sketto Rock, and the Daymar Javelin Wreck for vehicle or ground events.
