Windrose Completion Guide: Max Comfort, Weapons, Armor, Quests and Missable Items
Getting completion in Windrose takes more than finishing the main story. If we want a true full-clear save, we need to check off comfort, crafting, exploration, quests, bosses, factions, workers, ships, collectibles, and a few awkward resources the game does not explain very clearly.

After pushing through a full completion run, the biggest lesson is simple: most missing progress comes from small details. A crab shell from the wrong crab, a seed from the wrong tree, a rare weapon locked behind fishing, or a trophy recipe hidden behind a challenge can easily keep you stuck at 99%.

↖ Windrose Completion Checklist
Before diving into the details, here is the big-picture checklist for a complete Windrose save.
| Category | Completion Target | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Max Comfort | 35 | Requires trophies and decoration categories |
| Max Level | 15 | Current character level cap |
| Stat Points | 45 | Earned through leveling |
| Talent Points | 12 | Full talent progression |
| Bosses | 3 | Required for story completion |
| Armor Sets | 6 sets | Craft every full set |
| Necklaces | 6 types | Upgradeable to major quality |
| Rings | 13 types | Most can be upgraded |
| Ships | 9 total | Catch, Brig, and Frigate variants |
| Factions | 4 factions | Raise each to level 4 |
| Workers | 4 workers | Recruit all for your base |
| POIs | All explored | Clear every biome and shipwreck |
The easiest way to approach is not to do everything randomly. Finish quests, clear POIs, unlock recipes, then start the heavy crafting and upgrade grind.
↖ Max Comfort 35 Guide
The maximum comfort in Windrose is 35. To reach it, we need a mix of base Windrose items, decorations, and trophies.
| Comfort Source | Requirement | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Fire source | Bonfire or Signal Fire | Gives basic comfort |
| Bed | Any upgraded bed, not Simple Bed | Better beds give more comfort |
| Decoration categories | Build one item from each category | Counts toward comfort completion |
| Trophies | Build every trophy | Trophies stack |
The key detail is that trophies stack, while most other decoration categories only require one item. If your comfort is stuck below 35, trophies are usually the first thing to check.
↖ Trophy Checklist
| Trophy | Main Requirement |
|---|---|
| Crab Trophy | Crab Shell |
| Dodo Trophy | Dodo hunting progress |
| Boar Trophy | Boar challenge |
| Wolf Trophy | Wolf challenge |
| Great Goat Trophy | Goat-related progress |
| Crocodile Trophy | Crocodile hunting |
| Sen Kemati Blade Trophy | Ritual dagger collection |
↖ Decoration Categories to Cover
You do not need every decoration item. You only need one item from each non-trophy category.
| Decoration Type | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Seating, Tables, Shelves, Wardrobes | Build one each |
| Canopy, Lighting, Chandeliers | Build one each |
| Dishes, Supplies, Food Displays | Build one each |
| Books, Pier Decorations, Miscellaneous | Build one each |
| Military, Banners, Statues | Build one each |
| Ship Model, Fireplace, Painting | Build one each |
| Garden, Curtain, Carpets | Build one each |
If you are missing recipes, check faction vendors, POIs, quest rewards, and decoration plans from merchants.
↖ All Weapons Checklist
Most weapons unlock naturally through exploration, quests, POIs, or crafting recipes. One weapon is different: the Smasher.
| Easy-to-Miss Weapon | How to Get It | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Smasher | Rare fishing drop | Deep-water fishing worked best in our run |
The Smasher is probably the rarest weapon to discover because it does not come from normal progression. If you are missing one weapon, start fishing.
↖ Weapon List
| Weapon Type | Weapons to Check |
|---|---|
| Heavy Weapons | Smasher, Crusher, Bone Breaker, Sturdy Mace |
| Greatswords | Dueling Greatsword, Stalwart Greatsword, Two-Handed Sword |
| Polearms | Plague Halberd, Executioner, Sturdy Halberd, Halberd |
| Rapiers | Rapier of a Thousand Cuts, Rapier of Devastation, Sturdy Rapier, Rapier |
| Sabers | Cutlass, Arboreal Saber, Razor, Dueling Saber, Sturdy Saber, Saber |
| Blunderbusses | Dragon's Breath, Reliable Blunderbuss, Blunderbuss |
| Muskets | Infantry Musket, Reliable Musket, Musket |
| Pistols | Buccaneer's Friend, Drake's Double-Barreled Pistol, Reliable Pistol, Pistol |
| Other | Club, Soul Eater |
↖ Important Weapon Notes
| Weapon Note | Details |
|---|---|
| Plague Pistol | Can be discovered, but does not appear craftable |
| Max weapon level | Level 15 |
| Blue weapons | Many can be ascended |
| Smasher | Rare, but does not seem to ascend like most blue weapons |
If you are aiming for a true completion file, upgrading every weapon to level 15 is possible, but it becomes a serious material grind.
↖ All Armor Sets
There are six armor sets to collect and craft. Some recipes come through normal exploration, while others may require faction vendors.
| Armor Set | Pieces | Quick Note |
|---|---|---|
| Tracker | Boots, Gloves, Hat, Pants, Jacket | Strong utility set |
| Survivalist | Boots, Gloves, Bandanna, Pants, Jacket | Generally weaker |
| Conquistador | Boots, Gloves, Helmet, Pants, Cuirass | Defensive style |
| Marksman | Boots, Gloves, Tricorn, Pants, Doublet | Ranged identity |
| Pikeman | Boots, Gloves, Helmet, Pants, Cuirass | Polearm theme |
| Privateer | Boots, Gloves, Tricorn, Pants, Doublet | Great for crit damage |
| Flybustier | Boots, Gloves, Hat, Pants, Jacket | Good healing value |
For actual gameplay, we liked Privateer because crit damage feels strong. For 100%, personal preference does not matter. Craft every set.
↖ Rings and Necklaces
Accessories are a major part of completion because they can be upgraded and require a lot of gold and silver.
↖ Necklaces
There are six necklace types.
| Necklace Type |
|---|
| Agility |
| Endurance |
| Mastery |
| Precision |
| Strength |
| Vitality |
Each necklace can be upgraded to major quality.
↖ Rings
There are 13 rings in total.
| Ring | Note |
|---|---|
| Jaguar Ring | Upgradeable |
| Cutthroat Ring | Upgradeable |
| Sun Ring | Upgradeable |
| Capricorn Ring | Upgradeable |
| Warrior Ring | Upgradeable |
| Fisherman Ring | Linked to fish collection |
| Bravery Ring | Upgradeable |
| Spear Throwing Ring | Upgradeable |
| Knight's Ring | Upgrade exception |
| Marksman's Ring | Upgradeable |
| Prospector Ring | Upgradeable |
| Corsair Ring | Upgradeable |
| Champion Ring | Upgradeable |
If you are missing accessory upgrades, expect to farm a lot of silver and gold. This is one of the longer parts of 100%.
↖ Best Material Farming Spots
Several valuable material locations refresh every 6 real-time hours. That means you can leave the game, come back later, and loot them again.
| Material | Location | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Silver | Undead-infested shipwrecks | Ring and necklace upgrades |
| Gold | Blackbeard Ruins Excavation Site in Foothills | Accessory upgrades |
| Tumbaga Ingots | Tainted Ruins of Ancient Table | Gear upgrades |
If you are upgrading everything, make these three spots part of your routine. It saves a lot of aimless farming.
↖ Biome Discovery Checklist
Windrose tracks discoveries by biome. If your collection is incomplete, compare your missing entries against these tables.
↖ Coastal Jungle
| Item Type | Important Discoveries |
|---|---|
| Core resources | Fast Travel Bell, Copper Ore, Copper Ingot, Rough Hide |
| Food and plants | Banana, Cayenne Pepper, Sweet Potatoes |
| Materials | Clay, Lamp, Undead Essence, Healing Herbs, Rum Bottle, Steel Nails |
| Seeds | Banana Seeds, Palm Seeds, Ficus Seeds, Shrub Seeds |
| Animal drops | Crab Shell, Crab Meat, Bird Meat, Meat, Animal Fat, Feathers |
| Other | Plant Fiber, Wood, Stone, Coconut, Triton's Horn, Scallop Shell, Pearls |
| Trophy drops | Boar Tusk, Boar Head, Dodo Head |
↖ Common Coastal Jungle Mistakes
| Missing Item | Correct Source |
|---|---|
| Crab Shell | Small orange beach crabs during daytime |
| Palm Seeds | Large inland palm trees |
| Ficus Seeds | Large inland ficus trees |
The crab shell is especially easy to misunderstand. Do not farm the large undead crabs for it.
↖ Foothills
| Item Type | Important Discoveries |
|---|---|
| Farming | Fertile Soil, Corn |
| Mining | Iron Ore, Silver Ingots, Sulfur |
| Wood | Hardwood, Tree Bark |
| Plants | Flax Fiber, Coffee Beans, Nuts, Aloe Leaf |
| Food | Lime, Tomatoes, Salt, Cane Sugar |
| Seeds | Lime Seeds |
| Animal drops | Wolf Fang, Bezoar, Wolf Head, Mountain Goat Leader Head |
↖ Foothills Tips
| Missing Item | Where to Look |
|---|---|
| Fertile Soil | POIs with wheat symbols |
| Corn | Farming-related POIs |
| Hardwood / Tree Bark | Inland Foothills trees |
| Lime / Lime Seeds | Around huge Foothills trees |
| Sulfur | Requires Iron Pick |
If you cannot find corn or fertile soil, stop checking random wilderness spots and focus on the correct POI icons.
↖ Cursed Swamps
| Item Type | Important Discoveries |
|---|---|
| Core materials | Ancient Scraps, Crocodile Hide Piece |
| Crafted material | Essence of Bromis |
| Swamp drops | Crocodile Tail, Tainted Bile, Crocodile Head |
| Plants | Bromeliad, Coco Plum, Leek, Beans, Lobster Mushrooms |
| Other | Tar, Plague Wood, Firefly, Tears of Sorrow, Mysterious Bites |
| Seeds | Coco Plum Seeds, Bean Seeds, Leek Seeds |
↖ Common Swamp Mistakes
| Missing Item | Correct Source |
|---|---|
| Essence of Bromis | Smelt Plague Wood in a furnace |
| Bromeliad | Small red bushes in plague forest areas |
Essence of Bromis is one of those items that feels hidden because it is not gathered directly. If you have Plague Wood, use the furnace.
↖ Bosses and Quests
You need to defeat the three current major bosses and complete all available questlines.
↖ Boss Checklist
| Area | Boss |
|---|---|
| Coastal Jungle | Thomas Richards |
| Foothills | Israel Hands |
| Cursed Swamps | Tainted Priestess |
↖ Quest Checklist
| Quest Type | Quests |
|---|---|
| Main Quests | Needle in a Haystack, Forgotten Relics, I Need a Bigger Boat, Revenge Is Best Served Cold, Rescuing the Crew |
| Side Quests | Fate of the Prophets, Sacrificial Lamb, Eyes Wide with Fear, Jokes of the Gods, Mystery of the Expedition, 15 Men on a Dead Man's Chest, The Bitter Pill |
| Faction Quests | Brethren of the Coast, Catastrophe's Aftermath, Smugglers, Glorious Hunters, Underground Network, Buccaneers |
| Tutorial Quests | How My Short Adventure Began, How My Sea Adventure Began |
The main questline currently reaches a to be continued point after the Cursed Swamps boss, so that is normal.
↖ Library and Notes Checklist
Most library entries come from quests and POIs. If you are missing notes, recheck ruins, campsites, shipwrecks, tables, chests, and quest areas.
| Library Collection | Total Entries |
|---|---|
| Marcel's Pictures Notes | 3 |
| Castaway | 4 |
| Travel Notes | 7 |
| Memories of a Ghost | 4 |
| The Priestess's Tale | 4 |
| Tales of the Stargazers | 3 |
| The Izel Tech Pre-Story | 3 |
| The Frightened Private's Journal | 3 |
↖ Additional Documents
| Documents to Check |
|---|
| Officer's Notes |
| Letters to a Good Friend |
| Blood-Stained Message |
| Captain Juan de la Cosa's Journal |
| Thomas Richards' Journal |
| Journals of the Captain of the Unsinkable |
| Blurry Sketch of the Island |
| Decayed Diary Page |
| Francois Arnaud's Letter |
| Children of the New Ark Manifest |
| Michael Hardy's Letter |
If you are at the endgame and still missing entries, POIs are usually the answer.
↖ Challenges and Collections
Challenges are important because several trophy recipes and comfort items depend on them.
| Challenge / Collection | Requirement | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Bird Hunt | Kill 20 dodos | Trophy progress |
| Goat Hunter | Kill 20 goats | Trophy progress |
| Predator Call | Kill 40 wolves | Trophy progress |
| Swamp Hunter | Kill 30 crocodiles | Trophy progress |
| Legends of the Swamp | Kill 200 crocodiles | Unlocks comfort statue |
| Boar Challenge | Kill 40 boars | Unlocks Boar Trophy |
| Fish Collection | Catch 10 fish | Helps unlock Fisherman Ring |
| Ritual Daggers | Collect 3 daggers | Unlocks Sen Kemati Blade Trophy |
Important warning: plague crocodiles do not count for the 200 crocodile challenge. You need regular crocodiles.
For fishing, we caught everything in deep water during our run, even though some fish descriptions mention water depth. Expect the larger fish to take some time.
↖ Ships, Factions and Workers
For full completion, you also need to handle ships, factions, and base workers.
↖ Ships
There are nine craftable ships.
| Ship Class | Variants |
|---|---|
| Catch | Catch, Brethren Catch, Blackbeard Catch |
| Brig | Brig, Brethren Brig, Blackbeard Brig |
| Frigate | Frigate, Brethren Frigate, Blackbeard Frigate |
Ship designs can be bought from the Provisioner of the Brethren of the Coast, including Brig and Frigate designs.
↖ Factions
Raise all four factions to level 4.
| Faction | Target |
|---|---|
| Smugglers of Port Royal | Level 4 |
| Rogue Buccaneers | Level 4 |
| Brethren of the Coast | Level 4 |
| People of Tortuga | Level 4 |
↖ Workers
Recruit all four workers for your base.
| Worker | Location / Note |
|---|---|
| Rosalinda Mercer | People of Tortuga area |
| Black Axle | Tortuga-related location |
| Mortar Joe | Brethren of the Coast, costs 500 coin |
| Jasper Crow | Tortuga |
Workers are easy to forget because they are not as flashy as weapons or bosses, but they still matter for a complete base setup.
↖ Hidden Treasures and Unusual Items
Some completion-related items are tied to exploration rather than obvious quest rewards.
| Item / Objective | How to Find It |
|---|---|
| Escumalin's Treasures | Dig near campsite POI trees with tarp-like markers |
| Boar Whistle | Interact with the statue at a Foothills POI |
| Ocean Shipwrecks | Explore and loot all shipwreck locations |
The hidden campsite treasures are especially easy to miss. If you see a campsite with a chest and a nearby marked tree, dig around the base.
↖ Unconfirmed Items
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Crocodile Whistle | Not confirmed in normal gameplay |
| Swamp Creature's Tooth | Not confirmed in normal gameplay |
These may exist in files or future content, but they do not seem reliably obtainable right now.
↖ Best Completion Route
If you already finished the story and want to clean up the rest, this route works well.
| Step | Task | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Reach level 15 | Unlock full stats and talents |
| 2 | Finish all quests | Unlock recipes and notes |
| 3 | Clear all POIs | Completes discoveries and library entries |
| 4 | Complete hunting challenges | Unlock trophy recipes |
| 5 | Build max comfort base | Uses all decoration and trophy unlocks |
| 6 | Craft all weapons and armor | Confirms recipe completion |
| 7 | Farm silver, gold, and tumbaga | Needed for upgrades |
| 8 | Upgrade accessories and gear | Longest grind |
| 9 | Craft all ships | Expensive late-game goal |
| 10 | Recheck notes and discoveries | Cleans up final missing items |
This order prevents wasted effort. For example, if you try to max comfort before finishing hunting challenges, you may not even have the trophy recipes yet.
↖ Most Commonly Missed Items
If you are stuck near 100%, check this table first.
| Missing Item / Objective | Correct Source |
|---|---|
| Smasher | Rare fishing drop |
| Crab Shell | Small orange beach crabs |
| Palm Seeds | Large inland palm trees |
| Ficus Seeds | Large inland ficus trees |
| Essence of Bromis | Smelt Plague Wood |
| Bromeliad | Red bushes in plague forest |
| Fertile Soil | Wheat-symbol POIs |
| Corn | Farming-related POIs |
| Fisherman Ring | Complete fish collection |
| Comfort Statue | Kill 200 regular crocodiles |
| Boar Trophy | Kill 40 boars |
| Sen Kemati Blade Trophy | Complete ritual dagger collection |
This table catches most of the annoying final blockers.
↖ FAQ
↖ What is the max comfort in Windrose?
The max comfort is 35. You need a fire source, an upgraded bed, one item from most decoration categories, and every trophy.
↖ Why am I stuck below 35 comfort?
You are probably missing trophies or one decoration category. Remember, trophies stack, so you need all of them.
↖ Where do we get the Smasher weapon?
The Smasher is a rare fishing drop. Deep-water fishing worked best in our completion run.
↖ Can we craft the Plague Pistol?
The Plague Pistol appears to be discoverable but not craftable. It is the odd exception compared with most weapons.
↖ Where do crab shells come from?
Crab shells come from the small orange crabs on the beach during the day, not the larger undead crabs.
↖ How do we get Essence of Bromis?
Smelt Plague Wood in a furnace. It is not gathered directly from the world.
↖ Why is my 200 crocodile challenge not progressing?
You are likely killing plague crocodiles. Only regular crocodiles count for that challenge.
↖ What is the max level in Windrose?
The current max level is 15, with 45 stat points and 12 talent points.
↖ How many ships are there in Windrose?
There are nine craftable ships: three Catch variants, three Brig variants, and three Frigate variants.
↖ How often do silver, gold, and tumbaga farming spots refresh?
Key farming containers refresh every 6 real-time hours.
↖ Summary
Windrose completion is a proper checklist grind, but it becomes much easier once you know what the game quietly expects from you. The main targets are max comfort 35, all weapons, all armor sets, all rings and necklaces, every quest, every boss, all factions at level 4, all workers, all ships, and every major biome discovery.
The biggest blockers are usually not hard fights. They are small details: Smasher from fishing, crab shells from small beach crabs, palm and ficus seeds from large inland trees, Essence of Bromis from smelting Plague Wood, and regular crocodiles for the 200-kill challenge.
Work through the checklist in order, farm the 6-hour material spots when needed, and save the full gear upgrade grind for the endgame. That path keeps the run organized instead of turning it into a treasure hunt conducted during a mild panic attack.
