EverQuest Legends White Dragonscale Cloak Quest Guide: Improved Damage III

The White Dragonscale Cloak quest is mainly worth doing for Improved Damage III.

At maximum upgrade, the effect can increase eligible direct-damage spell damage by up to 20%. The bonus decays on spells above level 60 and does not affect DoTs.

EverQuest Legends White Dragonscale Cloak Quest Guide: Improved Damage III

The quest itself is straightforward. The common time-wasters are selling the required gems, crafting the wrong jewelry, and missing the faction requirement.

White Dragonscale Cloak Quest Requirements

Item Source
White Dragon Scale Hide Lady Vox
Magical Black Sapphire Platinum Necklace Jewelcrafting
Magical Platinum Diamond Wedding Ring Jewelcrafting
Black Sapphire Plane of Hate
Diamond Plane of Hate
Platinum Bars Tradeskill / Enchanter

You need the Magical versions of both jewelry pieces.

The regular recipes do not work.

1. Farm the White Dragon Scale Hide

Kill Lady Vox for the White Dragon Scale Hide.

The drop is common enough that replacing one isn't a serious problem. If you sold or destroyed yours, farm Vox again.

The gems are the materials we really need to protect.

2. Save Black Sapphires and Diamonds

Open Advanced Loot:

/ADVL

Search for Black Sapphire and Diamond.

If either is set to Sell, change it to Store or loot it manually.

Plane of Hate is a reliable farming location for both.

This is an easy mistake to make. We ended up with roughly 23 Diamonds but only a few Black Sapphires because the sapphires had been sold while leveling.

Save them now. You'll need them later.

3. Craft the Required Magical Jewelry

You need exactly these two items:

Magical Black Sapphire Platinum Necklace

Magical Platinum Diamond Wedding Ring

Do not accidentally craft the standard versions.

Recipe Required?
Black Sapphire Platinum Necklace No
Magical Black Sapphire Platinum NecklaceYes
Platinum Diamond Wedding Ring No
Magical Platinum Diamond Wedding RingYes

If you're an Enchanter, enchant the Platinum Bars before crafting.

We made these successfully at around 269 Jewelcrafting, which is a useful real-world benchmark if you're planning to craft them yourself.

Otherwise, find a jewelcrafter and provide the materials.

4. Go to Wrath Mountains

The quest NPC is Karam Dragonforge in Wrath Mountains.

Use:

/slwaypoint 4109

Follow the waypoint to the quest area.

There is another NPC nearby who can return items, but Karam Dragonforge is the NPC for the cloak quest.

5. Check Karam Dragonforge Faction

You need sufficient faction before Karam will accept the turn-in.

Indifferent is the stated baseline, but our actual testing showed that Indifferent was not enough for the character setup used.

Using a Dwarf illusion raised the character to Amiable, and the quest then worked.

If Karam refuses your items even though everything is correct:

1. Check faction.

2. Use the appropriate Dwarf illusion if available.

3. Try the turn-in again.

In our testing, Collaboration did not fix the faction issue.

6. Turn In the White Dragonscale Cloak Quest

Bring Karam:

1. White Dragon Scale Hide

2. Magical Black Sapphire Platinum Necklace

3. Magical Platinum Diamond Wedding Ring

Complete the turn-in to receive the White Dragonscale Cloak.

The quest is repeatable, which matters if you're chasing the +4 version.

How to Get Improved Damage III

The target is a +4 White Dragonscale Cloak.

The basic upgrade progression is:

Combine Result
+1 + +1+2
+2 + +2+3
+3 + +3+4

With four base cloaks, the clean route is:

4 × +1 → 2 × +2 → 2 × +3 → 1 × +4

Don't combine cloaks randomly.

If you're short on copies, keep the higher-ranked cloak and farm another White Dragon Scale Hide rather than wasting the upgrade path.

What Improved Damage III Does

Improved Damage III can provide up to 20% increased damage to eligible spells.

Spell Improved Damage III
Direct-damage spellsYes
DoTsNo
Spells above level 60Bonus decays

This is why the cloak is particularly attractive for direct-damage casters.

If most of your damage comes from DoTs, don't expect the same payoff.

White Dragonscale Cloak vs. Cloak of Flames

Both cloaks are All/All, so there is no new class or race restriction when switching.

If you're already using a Cloak of Flames, the White Dragonscale Cloak can replace it without creating an equipment restriction problem.

For most players pursuing this quest, the base cloak stats are secondary.

The real prize is Improved Damage III.

FAQ

Where does the White Dragon Scale Hide drop?

It drops from Lady Vox. The drop is common enough that farming another one is usually easier than worrying about a lost copy.

What jewelry is required for the White Dragonscale Cloak?

You need the Magical Black Sapphire Platinum Necklace and Magical Platinum Diamond Wedding Ring. The non-magical versions do not work.

Where is Karam Dragonforge?

Karam is in Wrath Mountains. Use:

``text

/slwaypoint 4109

``

to get to the quest area quickly.

Why won't Karam Dragonforge accept my items?

Check your faction. Indifferent may not be enough depending on your character. In our testing, a Dwarf illusion brought the character to Amiable and allowed the turn-in.

Does Improved Damage III affect DoTs?

No. It affects direct-damage spells. The bonus can reach 20%, but it decays on spells above level 60.

Summary

The efficient route is simple:

Lady Vox → White Dragon Scale Hide → Plane of Hate gems → Magical jewelry → Wrath Mountains → Karam Dragonforge → repeat the quest → upgrade to +4.

Three things matter most:

Don't sell Black Sapphires.

Craft the Magical jewelry versions.

Check faction before assuming the quest is broken.

For a direct-damage caster, the payoff is Improved Damage III, with up to 20% increased eligible spell damage.
