PoE 2 Delirium Farm Guide: Basic Mechanics and Best Strategies

PoE 2 Delirium Farm Guide: Basic Mechanics and Best Strategies

Delirium is one of the four core endgame mechanics in Path of Exile 2, carrying over from the first game. In simpler terms, they are a kind of fog which adds more enemies (called Delirium demons) and more loot. There are two fundamental interactions with Delirium:

  • Delirium Mirrors: Appear at the beginning of maps and start a fog-based fight.
  • Fragmented Mirrors: Found throughout the map and summon more enemies.

Knowing how to use these mechanics will greatly improve the efficiency of your farming and increase the currency drops.

Delirium Mirrors

Your mechanics teaching tutorial begins with “Delirium Mirrors”.

  • Location: They are located at the map's entry points through Delirium enabled via Waystones.
  • Activation: When a Delirium Mirror is passed through a fog spreads in the direction of movement.
  • Enemy Spawns: Fog and Delirium demons serve as extra enemies with the regular mobs of the map.

Tips:

  • Don't move away from the fog to prevent premature ending of the fight.
  • Staying within the fog will give maximum enemies to defeat and thus maximize rewards.

Fragmented Mirrors

Fragmented Mirrors  are snipped pieces placed throughout the map which activate extra encounters.

  • Trigger: Getting near a Fragmented Mirror causes a group of Delirium dipsomaniacs to spawn in your general area.
  • Invulnerability Phase: These foes are first invulnerable until they completely teleport to their spawn positions.

Tips:

  • Eliminate in-range foes before dealing with a Fragmented Mirror to ensure you are not outnumbered.
  • Consider your movement strategically to increase the amount of mirrors you activate in one encounter.

Countdown Works

Farming runs can be made more effective if the workings of the Delirium countdown system are well understood.

  1. Timer Start: While concealed, a timer commences as soon as a Delirium mirror is struck.
  2. Extending Time: Defeating enemies or activating Fragmented Mirrors can temporarily pause or extend the timer.
  3. Fog Expansion: If you venture too far ahead of the fog, the encounter will be forfeited too soon.

How to Go Delirium Mirrors!

Key Considerations:

  • Ensure that pace does not exceed efficiency. Do not race ahead of the fog too much.
  • Attempt to remain within the range of the fog for as long as possible in order to attain the most rewards possible.

Delirium Rewards

When It Comes to Delirium, a new fog mechanic is introduced which adds a stacking reward system for every monster slain. The rewards are displayed at the side of your life gauge.

Reward Tiers:

  • Each of the slained monsters increases a reward tier within the fog.
  • Delirium demons fill the reward bar more than the regular monsters.
  • For a well optimized map run, the average reward tiers collected is between 4 to 6.

Distilled Emotions:

  • At the end of each encounter, a random distilled emotion drops at each reward tier.
  • The emotions served the purposes of Amulet Anointment and Installing a Map.

Reward Tier Reward Type Usage Options
1-6 Distilled Emotions Amulet Anointment, Map Instillation

Amulet Anointments

The amulet anointment system lets players receive tree notables without spending point.

  1. Hovering Over Notables Hits:  While hovering over a passive tree notable, hold `Alt`. You will be shown a list of three distilled emotions needed.
  2. Creating An Amounment:  Right click the required emotions in your backpack and put them into the instilling box in order. Put the amulet you want to apply the notable to in the window.
  3. Key Details:  The amulet does not require passive points to be activated. Normal amulets only have one anointment slot. Anouncements are still flexible and can be changed if necessary.

High Alert Overview

Delirium Waystones

Distilled emotions can also be used to instill maps with layers of Delirium, enhancing difficulty and rewards:

1. Instilling Maps:

  • Each map can hold up to three distilled emotions (they can be duplicates).
  • Emotions modify the map with specific effects and increase Delirium levels (measured as `% Delirious`).

2. Distilled Emotion Effects:

Distilled Emotion Effect on Map Player Delirious Level
IR +20% Magic Monsters +7% Delirious
Guilt  +8% Pack Size +9% Delirious
Greed  +8% Item Rarity +10% Delirious
Paranoia +15% Rare Monsters +12% Delirious
Envy +30% Waystones +15% Delirious
Disgust  +30% Precursor Tablets +18% Delirious
Despair +30% Simulacrum Splinters +20% Delirious
Fear Rare Monsters have +25% Mod Chance +22% Delirious
Suffering Bosses have +1 Modifier +25% Delirious
Isolation +50% Delirious (No Additional Effects) +50% Delirious

3. What Does `% Delirious` Mean?:

  • Players deal less damage but take more damage as `% Delirious` increases.
  • Higher `% Delirious` maps yield significantly better loot but are much more challenging to complete.

Delirium Rare Modifiers

As part of the Delirium infusion, unique modifiers that further add to the difficulty and reward scale of rare monsters are active. These modifiers appear on the monsters as black demonic entities. These entities manifest with the following features:

  • Damage Denial: Inability to sustain damage while performing some actions (for example: casting).
  • Death Triggered Effects: Effects activated on their demise.

Rewards:

  • Bolstered quality and volume of earned rewards.
  • Better probabilities for acquiring precious and often hidden treasures.

Why Play Delirium Maps?

Delirium maps provide an exciting results in rewards due to the high risk involved.

Reason Details
Increased Loot Distilling emotions into maps boosts loot drops and spawns more monsters.
Atlas Challenges Delirium maps provide unique challenges for Atlas progression.
Valuable Drops Chance to acquire Simulacrum Splinters and rare items.

Why Play Delirrium?

Important Note:

Completing a Delirium map on an Atlas node with a Delirium Mirror will remove the mirror mechanic and nullify any awarded Distilled Emotions. In order to avoid this, target the mirror nodes on a normal map as opposed to a Delirium infused map.

What to Do with Distilled Emotions?

Distilled Emotions are valuable currency items that can be used or sold for profit.

Options for Usage:

  • Juicing Maps: Inject emotions into your maps to get better loot drops.
  • Amulet Anointments: Passively apply powerful passives to your amulet.

Selling Distilled Emotions:

If they are no longer useful to you, trade them on the currency exchange for profit. Prices change depending on how hard it is to get them:

  • Common Distilled Emotions (e.g., Distilled IR) : Around ⅓ of an Exalted Orb.
  • Rare Distilled Emotions (e.g., Suffering, Isolation): 7-8 Exalted Orbs or up to 2 Divine Orbs (depends on the league).

Note: In the early stages of a league, Distilled Emotions are in high demand and sell for a premium. In the end, try to sell them to maximize profit. 18/24

Simulacrum Splinters

Simulacrum Splinters are a key component of the Delirium mechanic, dropping from monsters and bosses in Delirium encounters.

How to Acquire:

Source Details
Delirium Monsters Dropped by demons during encounters (level 75+ maps recommended)
Delirium Mirror Rewards Awarded at the end of mirror encounters based on enemy drops
Delirium Bosses (Kosis & Omniphobia) Drop large quantities of splinters upon defeat in any Delirium encounter

Why They Matter:Collect 300 splinters to assemble a Simulacrum, unlocking one of the most lucrative endgame encounters in Path of Exile 2.

Simulacrum

The Simulacrum is the boss fight of all boss fights when it comes to the Delirium mechanic. Not only does it provide incredibly lucrative rewards, but it also requires one to be well specialized and exceptionally skilled.

Encounter Details:

Key Features Key Features
Number of Waves 15 waves of increasingly difficult Delirium demons
Stacking Difficulty  Each wave scales up to 140% delirium intensity
Random Modifiers Waystone modifiers applied to each wave add variety and complexity
Boss Appearances Kosis and Omniphobia appear multiple times, culminating in the final waves
Temporary Invulnerability Enemies gain invulnerability briefly when spawning, increasing their danger

Rewards:

  • Extremely valuable loot that contains unique items, rare currency, and so forth.
  • It is now known that completing a Simulacrum gives 2½ Divine Orbs worth of profit.

Strangely Familiar Entity

Preparation:

  1. Character Build: Make sure my build can survive more than a few seconds of close range combat with high powered enemies.
  2. Defensive gear to survive this highly lethal encounter is a must and needs to be crafted.
  3. Familiarize oneself with the region before attempting the Simulacrum.

When Should Simulacrums Be Attempted?

Completing a Simulacrum is the pinnacle endgame encounter that requires a well-rounded powerful character. If attempted too early, failure is unavoidable costing precious time and resources that could have been better spent elsewhere.

Criteria Recommendation
Strong endgame build Attempt Simulacrums if your character has no significant weaknesses
Weak or incomplete build Sell Simulacrum Splinters for profit (approximately 1 Exalted Orb per 1.3 Splinters)
Co-op option available Play with friends to increase efficiency and survivability

Co-op Considerations:

  • Surface Area Coverage: Damage can be consistently applied over large area and can be done quickly by more than one player.
  • Modifier Mitigation: Teammates can counter negative modifiers to your build (like increased enemy accuracy countering an evasion build).
  • Revival Mechanic: Fallen Allies can reenter battle if the map owner survives and portal in the hideout is used.

Co-op Play Benefits

Co-op play has notable advantages in dealing with Simulacrums:

  1. Deficient Areas Minimized:
    • Friends can deal with counter waves of your build while you try to stay alive.
    • For instance: A player with evasion-based playstyle can depend on teammates when the enemy has accuracy modifiers on.
  2. Increased Chances Of Surviving:If a teammate is knocked out, they can come back to the fight through hideout portals stashed in the map (provided the map holder lives).
  3. Better Rewards:Simulacrums completed in a group increase how quickly they can Farm item level 82+ gear, distilled emotions, and currencies.

Simulacrum Rewards

The different rewards obtainable from Simulacrums are valuable differently based on RNG and difficulty level:

Reward Type Details
Unique Items Includes Kosis's items; most are low-value except the Melting Maelstrom flask (~20 Divines)
Megalomaniac Jewels Can allocate random passives; some combinations are extremely valuable
High-Level Gear  Item level 82+ gear for crafting or upgrades
Delirium Atlas Points Completing Simulacrums at all difficulty levels unlocks points to enhance future Delirium runs

Simulacrum Rewards Overview

Notes on Profitability:

A large number of Simulacrums won't let you even break even unless you get items like the Melting Maelstrom or some rare Megalomaniac passives.  But, the Delirium Atlas helps you in the long term by boosting future rewards.

How to Profit from Delirium?

While some of the mechanics like Breach of Ritual stand on their own and give considerable profits, Delirium is on the lower end of the scale. However, if Delirium is integrated into your mapping strategy, it can become profitable.

1. Apply Delirium Maps on Low-Value Nodes:

  • Apply Delirium Maps to the less rewarding nodes, which will help in earning additional currency and loot.
  • Rewards in all nodes will stay the same even with node mechanics, except with precursor tablet modifiers.

2. Add to Other Maps:

  • Have Delirium in maps where you already farm other mechanics like Towers or Breaches.
  • This guarantees more loot and experience with no effort whatsoever.

3. Manage Distillated Emotions:

Use distilled emotions in moderation when needing to increase rewards and reduce costs.

Comparison with Other Mechanics:

Mechanic Reward Potential Setup Requirements
Delirium Moderate to High Requires Delirium maps and distilled emotions
Breach High Requires Breachstones or map modifiers
Ritual High Requires Ritual altars on maps

Delirium Ritual Synergy

Ritual and Delirium mechanics compliment each other very well creating synergy that enhances the potential rewards of both mechanics.

  • Efficient Map Clearing: Delirium farming requires clearing entire maps to locate rituals, and with a Delirious Waystone, loot from Delirium demons and tribute points are increased.
  • High-Value Rewards: Increased extra tribute points makes acquiring high ticket ritual items easier.
  • Speed is Key: Both mechanics benefit from transitioning fast between maps, so work smart.

Delirium + Ritual Overview

Delirium Breach Synergy

Delirious farming is done with Breach intersecting towers and tablets to increase the paying out rewards.

  • Increased Loot: Delirious Waystones add Delirium demons which enhance the loot for Breach encounters.
  • Splinter Farming: Get extra currency exchange or splinters for Simulacrum battles.
  • Resource Optimization: Get better returns while augmenting breach farming with Delirium Waystones instead of using the mirrors directly.

Cost Management

Integrating Delirium into maps will incur new expenses, but the added profits more than compensate.

  • Investment in Currency: Emotions that can be distilled (Fear, Guilt, etc.) are cheap and provide great returns.
  • Marked Profit: After applying the modifiers' costs, you are always going to at least break even or profit because of the extra loot and money acquired.

The Cost of Delirium Maps Overview

Delirium Atlas Strategy

The Delirium Atlas offers powerful passive nodes that significantly enhance your farming efficiency.

Passive Nodes Recommended:

Node Name Effect Benefit
Get Out of My Head 20% chance for Waystones to drop with random emotions Free modifiers on maps increase value and rewards
Would You Like to See My Face Doubles Simulacrum Splinter drops from non-boss encounters; faster Delirium growth during mirrors More splinters per map translates to higher profits and faster Simulacrum access
They're Coming to Get You Pauses Delirium timer during mirror encounters by 4 seconds upon slaying rares; increases unique boss spawn chance by 25% Extends farming time in mirrors and increases chances of obtaining rare boss loot and splinters

Additional Tips:

Pasive noduri deliriu permite eficienta mult mai mare pentru farming datorita atlasului.

  • Apostolul Tinta Boss: Transformati boss noduri in Delirious Delirium.
