Have you ever wished to have a loadout that turns you into the ultimate hunter without the constant fear of losing your best gear? One that let you easily dominate in the Rust Belt? That is exactly what the new Safekeeper augment does.

We are calling this loadout S-Tier for a reason. From our experience, this is easily one of the best mechanics Embark has added to Arc Raiders. It allows for playstyles that are drastically different than what most people are used to with the Mark III Survivor or Defensive builds. Its biggest selling point? It genuinely alleviates gear fear.
Now you can go on a raid without worry because even if you get ambushed, your best weapon, whether it is an Equalizer or a Hallcracker, is stowed safely in your pocket. In this guide, we will show you how to farm it (and avoid dying to sweats), how to build your loadout, and how it is going to change the economy of PvP.

↖ Farming the Blueprint (The Anti-Meta Strategy)
Every time a new augment drops, the same chaos ensues.
People load into Blue Gate night raids, sprint straight towards the breachable room at Reinforced Reception, and turn it into a full-on warzone.

If you want to walk out with the Safekeeper blueprint, you need to do the opposite of the crowd. We have a method that works to secure drops.
| Strategies | Rationale |
|---|---|
| Stop Running Night Raids | Night raids are full of sweaty players, and the drop rates are the same as the other times of the day. It's just less skill based at other times |
| Stick to Day Raids | Day raids are calmer, and there are less reception area campers, making it easier to navigate to the reception area |
| Disable Crossplay (Console) | If you can, play on a console and turn off crossplay. These lobbies feel a lot less aggressive and have less people rushing the top area at the high tier loot zones |
| Spawn Management | Don't attempt the run if you spawn on the opposite side. It'll be looted by the time you get there. Wait for a spawn by the Village, or Reinforced Reception. |
Pro tip:
In one of the black boxes next to the lockers, we found our blueprint. Even if you get killed after looting it, (which happened to us once) as long as it's in your pocket, you can craft it at the lab.
↖ Safekeeper: New META?
Let's start with first impressions. On paper, the Safekeeper sounded great — but in practice, it's broken.
The Safekeeper states:
A looting augment that trades weight and utility for increased looting potential, but this downplays its actual potential. Unlike the Looting Mark III Survivor, which offers you 3 safe pockets that only store small items, the Safekeeper guarantees one massive safe pocket that can store anything.
You can store:
- Weapons (Jupiter, Equalizer, Hallcracker)
- High-Value Loot (Blueprints, Rare Mats)
- Key Items (Raider Hatch Keys)
This creates a hybrid playstyle. While it is looting augment, its play style is centered around being a combat-focused safety net.
The Safekeeper provides you with 18 backpack slots, 4 quick-use slots, and 2 trinket slots, which is still a lot for looting runs while keeping your primary asset safe.
↖Two Ways to Run It: The Loadouts
For this augment, we have constructed two distinct playstyles. Choose the one that best serves your objective.
↖1. The Arc Hunter (PvE Focus)
This build is designed for fighting Matriarchs and Tyrants without the risk of holding your best energy weapons.
- Shield: Heavy Shield (Maximum protection).
- Your Primary (Stored):The Jupiter (or Equalizer). You keep it in your safe pocket until you reach the boss. Its armor penetration is top-tier.
- Your Secondary (Equipped):Anvil (Level 4). This gun is versatile enough to fight off enemy raiders and clear smaller mobs while your Jupiter is hidden.
- Gadgets: Sound is everything Mark 2 Silencer, Shield Recharger 5, Herbal Bandage 5, Stim 5.
How to play it.
Your focus and situational awareness needs to be high while playing this. If you aren't engaging with a Queen or Matriarch, put your energy gun away. If you get a random rocket shot to the face or get shot in the back looting, your Jupiter is safe. This makes you more free to play.
↖2. The Gunrunner (Loot Focus)
This is the setup you would us for an high-value looting runs. The goal for this is to get keys and also the rare materials.
Shield: Light or Medium (For speed).
Weapons:El Toro (Level 4) with a silencer.
Tool:Snap Hook.
The Mental Shift:
As mentioned before we pretty much pamper our snap hook, being afraid of losing it. With the safekeeper we can Snap Hook like a tool we can afford to lose. Use it to gain verticality, escape ambushes, and move freely. Dying means losing the hook, but you've probably stashed enough high-value loot in your safepocket to offset the loss dozens of times.
↖Future-Proofing the Legendary Tier
Another reason knowing how to master the Safekeeper is important is the potential new tier of weapons that the developers may release soon.
The design lead Virgil Watkins was the most recent to suggest the possibility of adding new legendary weapons, even stating that while it could imbalance the game, it is a potential for a power spike for players.
If Embark makes weapons that are too strong for PvP but are also high risk, high reward, the Safekeeper will be the only way to safely run them. Consider this augment the natural successor to the current meta and will prepare you to keep the Safekeeper for new updates.
↖Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Is it true I can keep any weapon inside the safe pocket?
A: Yes, you can keep primary and secondary weapons and even large quest items. This is the only safe pocket augment in the game with versatility.
Q: Is the Safekeeper better than the Mark III Survivor?
A: It depends on what you aim to do. If your goal is to secure multiple, smaller items, Survivor is better. It is great for securing chips and meds. However, Safekeeper is better for quality over quantity. Saving one high-tier weapon is worth more than three stacks of materials.
Q: Can the Safe Pocket stop extraction campers?
A: Yes. If you have the blueprint or the weapon in your safe pocket, even if you die at the extraction, it will not matter. You will keep it.
↖ Final Thoughts
After doing this for dozens of hours, we can safely say the Safekeeper is top three augments with Looting Mark III Survivor and Tactical Mark III Defensive.
It deeply alters the risk vs reward equation of Arc Raiders* Everything you progress is no longer at stake every time you go on a raid. Whether you are farming for Matriarchs or for Buried City Keys, this loadout gives you the ability to control what you lose and what you keep, no matter what.
If you haven't farmed the blueprint yet, use our day-raid guide and get it done. The game is much more enjoyable when you best gear is immortal.
