One of the best RPGs to date is Monster Hunter Wilds. It's popular due to its multitude of features and customization options. However, if you've just finished a tedious manual hunt and find yourself lost in the numerous settings to fine-tune the HUD or enable accessibility options, it can be a tad overwhelming. Luckily for you, we've compiled a list of six configurations that enhance gameplay experience but are tucked within sub-menus.

- 3. Saikrii Movement Controls
- 4. Camera Distance and Orientation
- 5. Hide & Customize Armor Pieces
- 6. Hide Weapons and Helmets During Cutscenes

↖ What Makes The Menu Options So Difficult?
The main problem is Monster Hunter Wilds is the vast array of options. As many new players adapt to modern gaming, they are offered a sense of choice that many old RPGs did not have. In Monster Hunter Wilds, a plethora of custom options are available at almost all aspects of the game. However, with so much depth, players are often given less intuitive interfaces in sub-screens. This can waste time and add frustration. So, to make your life easier, we've compiled a list of six options you can tweak to enhance gameplay experience:
1. Favorites Menu
While not the most sought-out objective in the game, my personal quest was to level up and kill every monster for my trophy collection. One of the most practical and time-saving features in this scenario is the Favorites Menu. Favorites Menu allows you to simplify event progression on the dynamics of favorites based on prerequisites. However, this tool is so well-hidden that many players overlook it entirely. In case you really wish to simplify reshuffling:
- Click on the emblem that corresponds to your emblem on overview menu.
- Press the button corresponding to the submenu you want to access.
- Rearrange or hide other tabs as necessary, but include the star-marked Favorites Menu.
You can set up the menu so that frequently used menu items are added as short cuts to this section. This means essential options can be accessed immediately and do not require searching through numerous menu layers.
↖ 2. Saikrii Auto-Explore
If your mount ever tends to wander off while you check your map or sharpen your weapons, the Auto-Explore feature could be the culprit. Thankfully this feature can be turned off:
Page 3 of the Game Settings Menu.
In the middle of the page you should see Auto-Explore. Turn it off.
Your Saikrii will not begin moving without your command unless a waypoint is manually set, augemting your control over your Saikrii's motion.
↖ 3. Saikrii Movement Controls
There are two additional options in the Control Settings menu that could improve your experience with your Saikrii:
Directional Movement: Change the control scheme so that directional movement (i.e. using an analog stick or WASD) is the only movement input. In which case buttons for acceleration and stopping are not needed.
Exclusive Routes: Change how you traverse exclusive routes that can only be reached using your Saikrii.
Both features can be accessed on the second page of the Control Settings menu. These options improve the ergonomics associated with controlling your mount.
↖ 4. Camera Distance and Orientation
For those experiencing difficulty with situational awareness, or for those simply desiring to view more of the area, adjusting the camera distance can help:
Visit page 2 of the Camera Settings menu.
Locate the Camera Distance: Zoom setting. Changing this value upward moves the camera further from your character, hence providing a wider view.
You will also see options to change the angle of the camera in relation to your character just under this option.
Such modifications will increase visibility during hunts, enhancing immersion within the game world.
↖ 5. Hide & Customize Armor Pieces
For designers who aim to have complete outfits, but are put off by certain pieces of armor interfering with their intended look, there is good news. You can hide or change the color of some armor fragments.
Go to your tent and go to the last tab.
Choose Equipment Appearance to enable sliders for achieving visibility settings for specific armor pieces.
As you reach the high-rank quests, players unlock layered armor that enables customization. Players can now overlay crafted gear on their current equipment along with custom layering to change the color of the armor for appearance purposes.
↖ 6. Hide Weapons and Helmets During Cutscenes
In case one wishes to see the face of the hunter throughout the cutscenes but prefers the helmet on during the gameplay, there is a setting configured for that as well.
Navigate to Page 3 of the Game Settings menu.
Find the options titled Weapon Visibility and Helmet Visibility.
Whenever the player prefers weapons and helmets to be shown prominently during gameplay and hidden during cutscenes, these settings are applicable. Even though these options seem minor, the impact on polish is tremendous.
↖ Final Thoughts
Monster Hunter Wilds provides many customization options, but its depth can be quite daunting. With the aid of these six settings, you can reduce the complexity of the game and, instead, concentrate on the hunting and exploring. These changes, whether it’s sorting the menus and mount controls or optimizing the character customization, will enhance your experience and efficiency in the wilds.
