Monster Hunter Wilds introduces Mizutsune, the new monster in the game, with the first major title update (TU1) of the game. With this update, hunters will have to deal with a tricky and swift leviathan that can easily outmaneuver them. Every hunter needs to have the proper plan of action as presented in this guide on how to defeat Mizutsune as simply as possible.

↖ Finding Mizutsune
In order to hunt Mizustune, you need to first reach Hunter Rank 21. After you have done that, head to the Scarlet Forest and talk to the NPC Kanya. She can be seen at the lake located at your camp, right beside her fishing rod.
Ensure you complete Kanya's its basic fishing quest; if the quest with Kanya does not progress, this might be the reason. After that, Kanya should allow you to accept the special mission ‘Spirit in Moonlight' where she lets you fight Mizutsune.
If you fail to complete the quest, Mizutsune can be easily unlocked in the Overworld Scarlet Forest map for free after beating him once for the first time Now, unlocking him allows you to fight him at Wyveria as well. Or, you can take part in the side 5-star quest offered up by Alma where she titles it Blooms in Scarlet Foam. Only after completing this will the user able to access chest multiple times.

Elemental Weaknesses
Weapons that have Dragon, Ice, and Thunder elements will do specific damage to Mizutsune as they are particularly weak against these. Using Fire or Water-based weapons will be ineffective as Mizutsune is resistant towards these elements.
Physical Weak Points
Mizutsune's mouth are its main weak zones. Other notable areas include the head, claws, dorsal fin, and tail which can all be broken. With respect to severing, the tail can also be sliced off which will help in reducing Mizutsune's range and mobility during battle.
Preparing For the Hunt
Facing Mizutsune requires keen preparation. Make sure to eat a pre-quest meal that improves your stats. Provide yourself with both offensive and defensive gear like:
Required Items
Essential MH Wilds items for successful hunts in Game include Healing Items, Buffing Items, and Traps, which enhance survivability and effectiveness during battles.
- Pitfall Trap: Great for capturing Mizutsune and holding it temporarily.
- Shock Trap: An excellent stunning weapon.
- Flash Bombs: Useful for disrupting Mizutsune's attacks.
- Cleanser: Useful for mitigating the Blight from Its bubble attacks.
- Tranquilizer Bombs or Ammo: Ideal if the strategy is capture over kill.
Do not take Sonic Bombs as they have no bearing on Mizutsune.
Further, use water and fire resistance skills for survivability along with weapons with water and fire damage Earplugs like Mizutsune's weaknesses.
↖ Mizutsune's Combat Behavior and Strategies
Basic Actions
- Body Slam: Mizutsune stands on its two legs and prepares to slam down which usually leads to an overbearing attack. Get out of the specified area to prevent being squashed.
- Claw Strike: A powerful paw strike is aimed at the hunters after some brief charging. Make sure you time your dodge just right to avoid getting pummelled.
- Spin Leap: Mizutsune spins while leaping a few meters into the air which knocks back everyone that is within range. Back off before this attack so that you can evade.
- Tail Sweep: It spins in rapid motion clearing and sweeping up all things in close proximity. Either back off during the attack or roll through the attack window for safety.
- Water Jet: Either forward or sideways, Mizutsune sprays a jet of water sharply. Evade sideways to avoid getting hit and take advantage of the vulnerable state it will be in after this move.
↖ Bubbles Attack
Bubble Breath: A large quantity of bubble is released that arc sweeping Mizutsune's combination changing water into ice at extreme temperatures with a B class range explosion. During this attack stay low and hope you don't get hit as he sweeps his attack from his knees.
Aggressive Bubble Breath: It leaps back while puffy a single huge bubble that is capable of moderate damage and will pop before touching the target which explodes.
Bubble Barrage: Mizutsune rapidly spins while releasing numerous bubbles that extend outwardly in circular formations. Depending on their colors, these bubbles may possess a variety of effects such as:
White/Pink/Blue: Cause damage and apply the status condition Bubble Blight.
Red: Grant a damage buff when bursting.
Green: Heal when bursting.
Explosive Fire Bubbles: While enraged, Mizutsune peoduces bubbles that explode on contact, dealing large amounts of damage. Stay away from these.
↖ Bubble Blight
Miss too many mobility options and apply too many of these stacks of contact and you will suffer from the status effect Bubble Blight, which hinders movement while making damage intake harsher. Use Cleanser right away to eliminate this effect and regain command of the battle.
↖ Karmaseer Mizutsune (Soulseer Phase)
After dealing damage to the head of Mizutsune, the beast enters the Soulseer state, which leaves the creature blind and depending on its bubbles of vision. During this phase, his attacks become even faster and more aggressive, all the while Mizutsune is able to use large blue flaming bubbles that detonate on contact, dealing huge amounts of damage.
During this phase, concentrate on maximizing these openings while ignoring face to face fights with his explosive bubbles.
↖ Strategies to Ensure Success
Take Advantage of Exhaustion: When Mizutsune is enraged, it releases a massive explosive bubble followed by a period of exhaustion. This is your chance to aim for its mouth and potentially break it.
Exploit Weaknesses: While it's busy with these moves, dodge to the side to avoid getting hit and attack during one of its water jet attacks.
Maximize Damage: Try breaking some parts of its body like the tail or the claws for more damage while reducing fight duration to enhance your damage potential.
Use Bubbles to Buff: Red bubbles increase attack power for the duration of the fight if burst while green ones heal.
